Remove LOCKED Door from Hinges | Take Door Off by Taking Off Hinges | Open a Locked Door

Before we moved in, someone installed our closet door with the hinges and the lock (yes, there's a lock on the closet!) on the opposite sides. To prevent someone from simply taking your locked door off, the hinge and the lock should be on the same side.
In the event they're not and you get locked out, don't tear your door down! This is how to take the door off without damaging any of the trim or the door, and without needing to take the door handle off.

Does this only work on newer doors? I have one that is older, made of wood and glass.

It should be ok, but just be sure to let the door down slowly so it doesn’t shatter the glass when setting on the floor!

I don’t think so, unless the deadbolt was small enough. Otherwise it’s likely to get stuck as you turn the door to take it off
