OMG This is one of the best videos I seen on youtube. It's so inspiring to see his entire growth as an artist. And I got goosebumps when I saw the scene about Starry Night.
Emile Bernard really seems to care about Vincent, I really felt their devastation by the end of the story. Watching it a second time I noticed there's so much foreshadowing.

Thank you so much for the kind words :)

I remember I was so moved when I read the letter Emile sent to Albert Aurier for the first time, it's a big reason why I decided to make this video. (A large part of Chapter 6 is really about this letter.)

Here’s some additional information - Vincent actually invited Emile Bernard to stay with him in Arles, but Emile didn't go because he’s comfortable where he’s at.

But If you really think about it, If Emile went with him, it’s possible that the whole “CRAZY incident” could have been prevented, and then Vincent would never end up in Saint Remy, and would even avoid the ENTIRE TRAGEDY.

I think there’s a big probability that Emile actually knew this too, and felt a lot of guilt over what happened.

PS : But then, if Vincent didn’t go through everthing that happened, he wouldn’t be able to make all the paintings he made in Chapter 5, and the art world would have been slightly different.

This is why the full history of Van Gogh is truly extraordinary. Beyond all his paintings, it’s an incredible story about love and humanity, there are just so many layers that most people didn't even know about!
