This video was driven by my own curiosity as a gaming hardware enthusiast. I figured it could make for an interesting video. Let me know your thoughts below. My equivalent build and setup is theoretical based of what we know and there's still a bit we don't know but I think it provides an interesting insight on what could be possible perhaps. I did capture 3 more games that I left on the cutting room floor mainly because this video got too long. If there's interest in this video maybe I can make a part two. Let me know and thanks for watching. I appreciate it. CHEERS!
Great idea for a video, I'm sure DF are going to make a similar video if they haven't already, since the CPU is the closest component we have to the PS5 pro. The optimizations post launch in games like dragons dogma are nice to see. I like the 'surprise game' pick too, fueling the console war lol.
Looks like the PRO will hit 60fps in most games, which is what I have been saying all along! They will probably be optimized a little better and they may have to lower a few setting, but they will get very close. These games are hard to run on the average PC hardware at 4k 60 as well tbf.
You put some work on that video! Great stuff! My 2 cents on the topic: 2 to 3 times the RT capabilities might mean from 10 fps to 20-30 fps. Because the base PS5 is not an RT monster, lol. It also raises the question on what RT settings is the PS5 Pro gonna run, RT Low, RT Medium? We still don't know. P.S: Great to see another 6800XT video yet again!
The RT claims of the pro are wrapped in a lot of marketing slang that makes it difficult to interpret how it translates to actual performance. You'd think its 2 to 3 times performance but they say 2 to 3 times calculation of the rays, and a new AMD design not out in current GPU's. For example I'll try to sell you the 6800XT over the PS5. The 6800XT is a huge improvement over the PS5, with 200% the amount of RDNA 2 GPU compute units of the PS5. DOUBLE the amount of Ray Accelerators for ray tracing. We also increased the core frequency by 20% and added Infinity Cache to increase the memory bandwidth for a GPU thats DOUBLE the size. Most would think ok the 6800XT is twice as fast as the PS5, it has 2 times the RT power and more from the increased frequency and Infinity Cache, when it really isn't like that in reality lol. For me its too vague to make out what it means so time will tell but I am very curious to see it.
HOW DARE you defile the 6800xt 😰😰😰 Dude I think this is easily one of my favorite vids, seriously great work. Personally I think the PS5 Pro will have zero issues running current games specially when they tend to be better optimized for consoles. I am however worried about the CPU down the line, the PS6 will probably be out around 2028 and this little guy is already barely holding on in some cases. Would have been a safer bet if they upgraded it to a 5600x equivalent imo. Gpu should be ok... ish. It will really come down to developers, Saber proved we can have both next gen visuals with phenomenal performance (even though it's cpu heavy) while having a ton going on onscreen but not everyone has a Swarm engine equivalent. I think this can go either way for the Pro assuming of course the data we have so far is legit and not fluffed up for marketing because I was worried they chose to showcase an older title (TLOU2) when they could have easily used a current gen one. But we'll see. Also I would love to see Starfield coming for Ps5 users but I'm not sure Microsoft would be happy to have their exclusive running and looking much better on their competitors side. This kind of competition only hurts consumers and consumers keep feeding it with their stupid console wars. Seriously people they're just different branded boxes that do the same thing.
The CPU in the Pro is definitely a weak link. The first parties will utilize all the nuts and bolds. Like its been with the PS5 will be the best case scenario but third parties aren't really going to bother. Maybe some close collaborations could, like Stellar Blade for example but than you have other examples like FF16 or even FF7 Rebirth to some degree that feel like ports more or less.
Consoles performance is really hard to undestand sometimes. DF compared PS5 and Series X in Space Marine 2 and in (presumably) CPU limited scenario Series X was 20% faster! Despite the fact that both of these consoles use exactly the same CPU. How could this be? No idea. Looks like X received some specific software optimiziations, which helps it to provide higher framerates in CPU limited scenarios. X memory bandwidth is a bit higher though, but still 20% is way too much. We should also take into account the fact that on PC some games include Denuvo, thus PC versions of certain games (DD2 in particular) are probably running worse than console versions (CPU-wise). Anyway, I think you did a great job here. Underclocked 6800 XT is most probably reflects PS5 Pro performance pretty accurately. In terms of RT (taking into account the Pro is probably using RDNA 4 RT accelerators) it should be similar to stock 7800 XT, so 30-40% faster than underclocked 6800 XT.
Exactly, I said the same thing in the Space Marine 2 part about the Series X running noticeably better while having same CPU, leading me to wonder if it maybe could be due to the PS5's smaller GPU. You're right though consoles use custom variants of similar API's and PS uses their own. It's kind of what makes this stuff interesting from an enthusiasts perspective.

Teraflops is not an accurate measurement of gaming performance across different architectures. Perfect example the RX 7700XT is 33 tflops and RX 6800 non XT is 16tflops but they perform the same in gaming.
PS5 is 10 Tflops the PS5 Pro is 35 but is not 3 times faster its only "up to" 45% faster.
@@TerraWare n'importe quoi débile 45% c'est le rendu du con ! Et no 45% fast ps5 10 Teraflops rdna2 ps5 pro 33.5 Teraflops boos à 36 Teraflops rdna 3 !! Is more to 45 % !!!
Starfield will always be better on PC or Xbox even if it does come to PlayStation. Why? Mods
