Let's hear it. Similar to the new 4Runner I want to know what you all think I should do with this new kayak project. Like I said, I want to make this unique, and extremely versatile for river, creek, and lake missions. As always, thanks for that phat view and keep fishing!!

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
"Who can afford a 20k bass boat?" Uhhhh didnt you just sell your porsche? lmao
Wow day three with straight videos I'm in heaven
fish nation same tbh
Same
Make a full build series out of this, I’m sure there’s a lot of viewers that would be excited to have content about budget things to add to their kayak
Quick question..should I order the 15hp or the 20hp Mercury outboard for the new yak? Don't want to go overboard here but would like to add a little extra power, ya feel?
mabe like a 500-600hp Yamaha...
Stick with a 15...
This is a quality comment! Love that you can laugh at all the hate. Lol
I'd go with a 3.5 mercruiser inboard/outboard with hydraulic controls.
Jon B. Get another milk crate from local Cumberland farms and cut bottom off and use it for the lid on your other crate . That way if you flip it will hold your stuff in if you tip over has saved me many times
Kayak fishing is the way to go. It’s a challenge at times but frankly way more fun and rewarding in my opinion.
Don't put the LED strips on top It'll end up blinding you and making it hard to see. Instead put them on the top edge facing out. It's safer and more practical
Exhaust King ah, good call
What about velcro strips for the LED lights?
Also stop at the hardware store and get a 5 or 10 amp inline fuse and some shrink wrap. The inline fuse is for in case the connections get wet it doesn't melt the wiring and the shrink-wrap is key for keeping the connections dry 👌
+Jon B. Don't put duck tape on the batterie if the wire breaks the tape will burn and can start the batterie on fire
And maybe put them in the water for like a bait attractor
hell yes to the decals and hell yes to the customization series
You should get a tiny kayak trolling motor 😂😂 nice vid Jon!
Being from Kansas, I recommend a power pole for those windy days
I dont understand. Jon B has been getting so many dislikes on his videos lately. His last vid has 2k dislikes. What is going on. Jon B is the perfect youtuber
The Dream Catcher bot dislikes. Not real
The Dream Catcher so true
All the googans are being dislike botted
I would almost venture out and say it might have something to do with Catch em all...he commented something on one of Rob's recent vids but I don't remember exactly what without looking back. All I know is that guy seems like a douche
scott martin is getting them too
Please make a series on beginner fly fishing! Tips on fly fishing for smallies in creeks would be great!
Why so much dislikes? Wtfuark!
EDIT: Hey jon! Bring your yak down to East Tn! My bro, cousin, and I fish on yaks all the time. I have vids up of us. Let us know if you are ever passing by down here! We love to collab with the best! 2v2 Our Ascends vs their Feelfree kayaks!!!
Yeh what is this?!!
deadhorsez
How do you know that?
If that's true, that's F'd up.
he said he was ok with jon b ab is the problem
BassAndCoffee I'm in east tn as well on Douglas
Hello Jon B. I have had the pleasure of reviewing your new purchase of the Asend kayak. I to am farely new to this concept. I have found your video VERY INFORMATIVE in assisting me in my future purchase of a kayak. Thank you Mr. Jon B. in being Very Helpful in my future purchase of a new kayak. Sincerely, Mr. Carl Joseph Gwizdala.
Some tips from a fellow kayak fisherman; ADD OUT RIGGERS, out riggers can stabilize your kayak while they might make it a little harder to paddle when you are flipping docks for bass you can stand up and make a easy money cast, the kayak will also roll a lot less! And when you are putting that 12v battery where ever, Go to your local store and go around putting your battery in boxes and try to find the best fit, this will make your batter waterproof and it is pretty cheap to do! If you really want to go over board with your kayak mount a 20lb trolling motor. Now with a 10ft kayak and limited space this is isn't really needed but makes getting to your spots easier and faster! Look up videos on how other anglers made there yaks and brain storm! good luck
Just keep yakkin, Just keep yakkin :)
Please more kayak videos. I am considering getting one myself and it helps to watch someone go through the process of buying one with all the additions. Maybe in the future talk more about how much you paid for each piece.
Thank you for uploading I was so bored I was watching 1rod!!
Kody Z. Dude, at that point I would’ve rather watched paint dry.
BancroftOutdoors 😂😂😂😂
Pls don't stop making vids I have no idea why people are disliking your videos you are my favourite RUclipsr
Pimp my yak, is what this series should be called
+Fernando_ dinosaur I dig it..!
You can always mount the transducer the inside of the hull, no drilling required, there's tons of videos about how to glue or epoxy your transducer to the inside of the hull, one thing a lot of people don't know is that the transducer does not have to be in contact with the water. Depending on the brand, you might sacrifice a little bit of resolution and picture quality but if you don't want to drill holes and avoid cheap plastic extension arms it's the way to go. I do know for a fact that Lowrance and Simrad work well with this technique. Hope this helps
lmao griping about how expensive a bass boat is in the video after trading in your porsche.
hoss56 right lol
This video gave me some good ideas on what i can do and how to get started fishing with a kayak! nice upload jon b!
Keep Fishing, Never Stop
Keep Stopping. Never Fish.
MoMo Baklava I've got things to see and people to do
Never keep, fishing stop
the foam is for you to stand up and have grip
Fishing Keep, Stop Never
Suggestions from a kayak fisherman
1. mount all your stuff (fishfinder, rodholder etc) on teh one side of the kayak. Left I would say so your right arm can land fish etc). This way you can more easily land fish but you also, if/when you flip the kayak , will have a clear side that is easier to get back in from.
2. Get your battery into either a dry box or a dry bag
3. Get a leash for your paddle.
4. Get a few more leashes for stuff like Pliers, lip grippers, scissors and rods that are not in use
5. Put a rod holder on (scotty likely) so when you are trolling you can set it there, or when you land a fish you can just quickly put the rod in it and not worry about it falling out etc.
6. Get an anchor setup to hold your spot (or a micro power pole with some of that panamera money)
7. Keep an empty gatorade widemouth bottle on board :)
Don’t forget an anchor Jon B! Also a little anchor trolley system.... u won’t regret it!
Was so glad my Old Town came with the trolley system. +1, get one for sure.
I pulled the milk crate move this summer; not bad at all! If you end up needing to drill into the kayak just hit the seams with some silicon glue and you’ll be golden👌🏼
Keep it up man you’ve come a long way in the 4.5 Years I’ve been watching!
Who else likes the video before watching just out of habit??
For drilling holes into the yak, just take the leap, it pays off. I installed an anchor trolley into my kayak and it helps so much for positioning.
How Jon hasn’t broke anything in his unboxing segs/ vids is beyond me 😂
I just got into kayak fishing too, and Pinterest is a wealth of information. I also joined a Facebook group for customizing yaks. There's so many options.
WHY DOES THIS HAVE SO MAY DISLIKES!?
Max Chronister Not sure. This is troubling cuz a lot of people out there want to see kayak mods. Especially from Jon. Some of the most interesting vids on yt get disliked a lot.
I think somebody might be botting dislikes, there's bot dislikes on Rob's channel too
Hayden Higginbotham I noticed this too but I guess the silver lining is that even dislikes contribute to viewer exposure. Some weird stuff going on with RUclips.
All of the googans are getting botted
Yeah looking at it there's a lot of videos that shouldn't get dislikes (Like Peter browns) most recent video I agree with you all.
I was hesitant to drill into my kayak at first but then when I came up with a game plan it turned out that drilling and mounting all my accessories was the easiest and safest option. You can mount the transducer inside the hallow hull of the kayak and glue it down and it works just like if it were in the water. I also store the battery inside a waterproof case inside the hallow hull. I then just run the cables up and out of a small hole I drilled near the fishfinder and plug it in the fishfinder when I'm using it. This way you don't have some many exposed cables on the deck of the boat
Can I please come fishing with you
No.
outdoors weekly no.
outdoors weekly you know he will never see this
outdoors weekly Fellas, this is outdoors weekly. He's growing and loves to fish. All you haters just need to stop. A kid can dream. Let him.
Yo Jon I don't know if you'll see this but I have a kayak that i've decked out over the years and have a few suggestions. For 1, definitely install an umbrella mount, being out on the water usually means direct sunlight for hours on end. The shade is so nice and it can help with light rains as well. Also keep a small length of rope, it'll always come in handy. Maybe invest in an anchor too, I just have a heavy crowbar and it's easily one of the most used items in the kayak. Also the small storage space in front of your cupholder isn't as waterproof as it seems, just a heads up.
Good luck, bud.
Yo Jon do another nationwide challenge but in Orlando with all the ponds and canals.
You may be able to add the transducer into one of the scupper holes (where water drains thought the big holes in the boat) and put the battery in a sealed ammo can with rubber seals where you run the wires though. Yak fishing takes some getting used to, especaially on rivers, but it has enabled me to find the big juicy smallies that I love catching so much. Tight lines!
+Jon B. As a kayak angler I am familiar with the milk crate idea. The thing about the milk crate is you should really put PVC rod holders on it (homemade) you can literally fit like 12 rods on the crate. Also an anchor trolley is very easy to figure out. The battery to your fish finder can go in your milk crate. Also if you are into this kind of thing, you can mount a trolling motor on the back of your yak! It makes for a better day on the water. Silicone the hole on the transducer! Basically simple stuff, another nice video!
Justin M. If I could only have one thing for my FS12t it would be the anchor trolley/anchor combo. Invaluable.
Justin M. Those were some great ideas, I recently put up a video on my yak. You might check it out and see if you could give me some more ideas on it!
All in for the kayak fishing!!!
Lol 2019 still no kayak video 😂😂
@Jack Layher he has moved on to bigger better yaks 😔
@Jack Layher 2021 now
@@sambam97 2022 now
@@swarmz826@sambam97 2024
So cool...Just bought my first kayak 2 days before you...so much fun. Love your videos bro!!!
I mounted a paddle holder on my kayak -- then you always have to put it in and take it out. I simply use a tether and I can throw my paddle at will or as needed --- cost about 3 bucks
If I'm not mistaken they make battery packs for the yaks. Also you definitely need to get some leashes. Leashes for your rods and then definitely get a leash for your paddle . I normally keep my paddle across my lap all the time and when I go to set the hook if It slides off, the leash keeps it nearby.
Also some friendly advice, when the water warms back up take all your gear out of your kayak. Go to the water, and attempt to flip your kayak. By doing so you will have an idea of how much you can lean before you actually flip. So when you're in a real life fishing situation trying to get that 12 pounder out of the brush, you'll know the limits. Excited to see these videos come!.
That’s a Nice Kayak for the price!
The ram mount system has a suction cup, not sure if the kayak has smooth enough finish but they work great in my fiber glass boat for tools mounting and no holes. I can adjust where its located anytime depending if I fish bow or stern. Might be a good solution for transducer or for fish finder so that you can position it where you want and take it off for flipping upside down when you strap to the highlander. Keep fishing...Never Stop!
Well, you've caught your PB twice on a kayak and once from the bank at Yamamoto's. Who the hell needs a boat? 👀
+Ryan R. Ikr! The kayak scene has been good to me so far
Jon B. You get a boat when you can no longer get around in a kayak which is many many years from now. Ur kayak vids are the best. Thx for finally getting a paddle holder. 😀
Got my first watercraft last year. I bought a cheap kayak from Walmart but I love it. It's so much better than fishing from shore all the time. Keep kayaking!
I am pretty sure that someone is botting dislikes because there is no reason this video should have this many dislikes and also on zaks channel he made a new fishing video that has 1000 plus dislikes, same with lunkers and ap....
Fishing Northern Florida Seems like YT is out to destroy the ones that get out the house and away from a TV or computer screen. Idk but I wish they would stop. 😒
QUIT CHANNEL iii
Hey Jon, I have been kayak fishing for a long time now and one of the most important things is an anchor especially on windy days. I have a 12ft kayak and use a 10lb anchor and a anchor trolley. Awesome to see you starting to kayak fishing!!!
Yes on the new series. Call it "Pimp My Yak"
Jon been watching you for years . We need more yak videos .
Kayak build series mondays?
Hey, so for the transducer connection with the mount you have the only way to connect it is by drilling into it. If you decide to go that route, you will definitely want to use silicone to help keep water out of the kayak, and using a rivet gun will help exponentially! If you have anymore questions pertaining to kayak fishing I’d be more than happy to help.
Thass My Boi
Crankin' Caleb yo Klae from fishing northern Florida said he wants to join the squad!!
Crankin' Caleb lol
Bass Finatic BRENTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad you join the yak life. It's the best type of fishing
looking pretty good b roll, and that's coming from a kayak fishing expert like myself!!!! Lol not really
lojo.fishing lojo loving the new hobie gotta come down and chase some Texas bucket mouths some time
lojo.fishing but you are pretty much close to being an expert. At least you fish from a kayak and back it up with quality content unlike a lot of people in the comment section. 😂😂
I watch your videos keep up the good work
What i did on my kayak is I made an anchor system with a outdoor clothes hanger, small 3 pound weight, and a carabiner. Also you will want a kayak anchor trolley kit since you will be fishing bigger ponds/small lakes. This is not 100% needed but it is nice to be able to position your boat correctly.
You should install an anchor trolly to help keep you from drifting with the wind.
I would watch the HECK out of kayak customizing vids!! I just picked up a yak recently and I am also trying to figure out what I can put on it while being able to put it on top of an SUV. I believe my first mod will be an anchor trolley system - you should look into that as well. Pretty cheap to install and really helpful on windy days.
Keep yakking, never stop :)
Aquqdymatic 😂😂😂 great word
😂
BEARDed Outdoors 👍👍
Jon, get yourself the icefishing kit for your Lowrance. Hear me out here. The kit comes with a bag that stores the whole thing for icefishing and comes with a battery and ice tranducer. I keep everything in the bag when not in the yak (except my regular transducer which is permanently mounted to my yak). I use a ram mount to mount the unit to gear track on my yak and put the bag with the battery still in it in my front hatch with the wires coming out of the bag to power the unit. Then I can easily transport it, it takes very little time to hook it up and the battery is secure in the bag (along with everything I need for when the water turns to ice and I go icefishing). Win win. (You do plan on returning to the midwest for some icefishing, right?)
make a kayak series!
Had this in my saved to watch later. Here i am 6 or 7 years later lol. As im watching I'm realized damn he was pumped about his first watercraft, a kayak. Look at him now. Amazing how much can change in such a short time
Like if jon b is the best googan squad member!!!!
I build these kayaks for a living at a tracker plant in Lebanon and I love to hear the reviews on the kayaks we make
I hope he realized he said his paddle was 240 inches which is 20 feet, longer than the kayak itself 😂😂
One thing I would suggest is a YakAttack BlackPak . It's for your tackle but it has a lid. It can be strapped down but if you where to flip the kayak it would keep everything inside. It also have rode holders on it as well. Just thought I'd leave the suggestion because I know from experience.
You should defiantly put some rigged fishing decals on it that would be sick
You got it going on pretty good JB. Add a small solar panel to keep your battery and accessories charged. There are a lot of small 12 and 6 volt ones that are used on deer feeders that would work very well.
Hopefully this doesn't become another regretful purchase like the Porsche
every one should flood him with likes because hes my favorite fishermen to watch ever and yes for the motor so much easier you can spend more time fishing
Watercraft Tour 👌
Crankin' Caleb tf
I like how simple you are. I kayak fish in Wisconsin with my fl8 Vexilar off my kayak with my ice fishing rods for crappies. I think you should do a challenge with ice fishing gear off a kayak. What do you think!
Velcro strap for the battery
+Bass Fishing With TK Heaven I like it
Jon B. 👍👍
Jon I have the same fish finder for my yak. They actually sell a mounting kit for the finder and transducer. It comes with a port that u plug the depth finder in and it runs off of 4 AA batteries. Also comes with a water proof bag and it’s easy to take out and put back it. Much easier then a big battery taking up space and adding weight. Good luck with it
"Your guyses help" I think it's time to learn to say "Yall" since you live in Texas now!
Jon b I recommend using a solar panel charger for the 12v battery and adding a 12v input female to charge your phone or camera batteries(mount everything on the crate) , get a kayak leash for the paddles and for the fish finder mount 3m clips on the sides of the kayak to hook the wires when running them to the battery, and use the railing to mount your go pro for camera angles
I miss poor jon b when he lived in his moms house
If you're going to be out at night you're gonna want nav lights. You could use each led strip on a side of the yak and have one set up red and one green. There's some battery boxes for kayaks on Amazon that would keep everything water tight. Plastic ammo cans work well too, they just require some modifications to keep them water tight. These can be drilled, but I would use the special rivets that keep everything water tight.
HEYJON!! GLUE STRONG MAGNETS ON THE PADDLE AND A LOCATION ON THE YAK. THAT WAY WHEN YOU HOOK UP, YOU CAN JUST STICK UR PADDLE ON THE YAK.
travis nabors have you tried this? Seems like a great idea.
Hey John, I have a Jackson Big Tuna. I have bungees on the sides and depressions in the gunnels to keep the paddle from moving... but the magnet idea sounds interesting. I have a friend that could really use that.
Sounds like a great idea, bro.
That is the dumbest thing I have ever her and”face palm
”
Definitely excited for more yak videos!
Jon b just got boted with dislikes
Love it jon! Some people with yaks don't have an idea on how to set it up and this series will definitely help them!
Anyone remember when he was jojobars😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥
You can always use an in-hull transducer mount that allows the signal to pass through the kayak. It's what I use on mine and it works just fine.
Keep putting stupid funny clips at the end of you're videos I love them😂😂 like if you agree
Cant wait to see more of this series
I love the video Jon B your my hero!
Welcome to the world of kayaking!
"The ultimate kayak project"
I assume that's the reason behind all the dislikes.
Dude, you did what I've been considering. I want to get a kayak, but my car isn't ideal for transporting one. Like you, I'll probably get a truck or SUV just so I can haul a kayak. Thanks for sharing your plan!
Essskiitttt
You should add an anchor for river fishing. I made one out of a 3 pound dumbbell with little feet welded on the bottom. I used a retractable dog leash as a rope. It is cheep and works great and there are plenty of pictures online to show you how to install it.
geeeeezzz these ratings. I hate ppl
jon dont listen to the dislikes this video got me PUMPED to get a kayak lol plz do more videos like these. Dude just make a whole kayak series
whats with all de dislikes?
I rented the 12 foot model this summer. That black mat is there to give you traction when you stand up to fish in the boat.
He’s been fooling us the whole time... his real name isn’t Jon. BUT HIS RUclips NAME IS JON BOAT. Ya get it? “Jon B”? You don’t? K I’ll go home...
Cameron Nalley j0j0barz3000
Big Rick wut
Cameron Nalley that was Jon’s original RUclips username lol
Big Rick oh I see lol
Kayak rigging is always fun! That paddle holder comes in clutch all the time
Hey Jon, Cabellas sells a fishfinder mount that holds the monitor and the transducer all on one mounting system that is completely removable. Great for your Kayak. It's around $45. It's all metal. Easy install. No screwing into kayak.
For the LED lights...1: Learn how to solder, don't use the quick clips. 2: Use liquid electrical tape and heat shrink to waterproof connections. 3: Make sure you have a dimmer / switch. 4: Face them out not up and maybe use red or green (won't blind yourself and attract bugs) 5. Don't just rely on the adhesive strip, clean the surface and use some additional glue. Hope this helps!😎
