Own 2 of the Sundolphin Aruba 10' kayaks. They were only $189.00 each brand new, and these come with the adjustable foot rests.. Have had them for 5yrs. They have been in both the Columbia river, and Wilamette rivers, and multiple lakes in Oregon. They have been in the ocean around Baja, and near Seattle. They are now enjoying the muddy little river, named The Rio Grande, and the elephant butte reservoir. My longest trip in mine was 9hrs straight (feet never touched dry ground). I've upgraded it with pole holders, 2 anchors (front and back for river current).. I personally would never advise anyone to spend more money on "name brand fishing kayaks" I've landed everything from trout all the way to a 28" flathead in mine. Idk, guess it all depends on preference. Glad you endorsed that yak.
I am a 66 6year old lady, thinking about getting my first kayak, and well, your video has me laughing so hard I am crying! I will def check out a kayak for myself now. thank you for this video!
Up late, randomly watching older videos and found this classic. I"ve not laughed so hard as you caught the first fish. Made me totally get outta breath. Great stuff. Love to see you catfish alittle more.
Name the kayak “Crush” as in Orange Crush. This is my favorite vid by far. I am 6’1” and 190lbs i fish out of a Pelican kayak cost me $224 it’s basically a Trailblazer model with 2 rod holders. I never upgraded as it weighs 38lbs and because it’s so light I can take it anywhere with ease.
Your my favorite fisherman youtuber, your so friendly, positive and happy about everything on your channel, your so sincere and it makes me so happy and really encourages me to keep on fishing no matter the challenge.
I have 2 of these exact kayaks they are great for the kids but the first summer we had them my husband and me used these. Hes a 120lbs soaking wet and had no problem. Me I'm almost 200 and I flipped soooooo many times lol. Hubby now has a 10ft sundolphin and loves it and is on his 2nd summer. I now have a lifetime on top and love it.
You had me on the edge of my seat! As a begginer, this is probably going to be my commentary no matter what kayak I end up getting "oh god were in the water" 🤣 i am so excited to get out there and go kayak fishing tho!
When I was a kid, my friends and I paddled around a pond in an empty galvanized steel cow watering tank. We used some old barn wood planks for paddles. No PFD or safety of any kind. This orange kayak is better than that
Have you tried to plastic welding the hobie? Go to a kayak retail store and see if you can get a hobie chunk and patch it in. U can even use a plastic 55gal drum and a heat gun. Clean the hull off cut a chunk out of the drum, then heat your hull up till it gets glossy(keep the hull glossy) put the c chunk in a toaster oven bake till it is also glossy/flexible. Once flexible, take out of oven and press onto the crack till you can see it bond to the hull

I am probably close to lojos size and use this exact kayak so my brother who is bigger could use mine. I was in the river with moving water and it was very sketchy.
I've caught bigger fish then this guys ever seen out of that kayak he's just an amateur. I've landed 30 inch walleye and 46 inch pike in raging rivers in these. Just got back actually.
A year and a half later, I'm in walmart and notice that I can get into a kayak for $150. I'm wondering if this kayak is fishing capable. On my way out of walmart I was thinking "I'd sure like to see Ole Lojo demo this kayak!" Sure as shit and here we are!!! Thanks, man! I think I'm gonna get off the bank even before I finish my tiny boat build! Love the channel, Brother!!!
Get two ping pong paddles, drill a hole in each handle, and tie them together with 3 feet of string. Hang them around your neck so you won't lose them. For a small pond, or stream, they make moving the kayak easy. Your kayak paddle, can be disassembled, and stored inside the kayak. Makes it all easier.
I fished in one like that for years. I could paddle up swift rivers and fish on the way back down. I loved it. Messed up my shoulder a few years back in a motorcycle accident. Can't do it anymore.
LMAO 🤣. I’ve never laugh so hard. Seeing a grown man act like a little girl. Now that’s the kinda man any woman could have a ball with. He’s hilarious.
I think you called it at the store, "The Baron." There's someone near me who fishes in a similar yak, which his parents bought him when he was about twelve. He has some bungee cord criss-crossed on the front, and uses that tho strap his rods down. I've only seen him fishing it in a little pond near where I live, but he says he's taken it out on other bodies of water where he can't put in with his jon boat. I couldn't imagine the stability in that thing! His looks like it's about to tip over whenever he paddles, like yours did. I've been using my first ever fishing kayak, and it has made me nervous a little, despite being relatively stable. If you ever make your way up towards Birmingham, I can suggest a place or two.
Think about trying a Jackson Kayak, the Rivera is a great one. It has a molded seat with back and foot placements for short or long legs. They can take a beating. They come with molded handle grips on each end and storage with lids. Mine was however is uncut i just like it better that way. They top out at 40 pounds which seems small but that adds up if you launch by yourself. Cheers. The kayak catty can handle that. Cheers
That sun dolphin was my first kayak :) I worked my tail off on Black Friday splitting and stacking firewood to be able to afford it at the HUGE discount! I actually won a few tournaments from that thing :) Great Video!
Name the boat Tony! I work with a tiny special needs girl. Only 73 pounds at age 14. Tiny she might be...but she battles on every day like a super hero. She’s not very steady, tough as she is. In the AM, i walk in and ruffle her hair. “Come on, Iron Girl...time to suit up!” First to go on are her braces. One for her right knee. Then a left leg/foot brace. (That’s why she wobbles). Then her much hated hearing aids (she hates those things!), then her glasses. Finally her face mask (if we are leaving the house). Once suited up, I ask “Ready to fly?” And she gives me two thumbs up. I swing her in an arc, shouting: “Whoo Hoo Iron Girl! Look out people...incoming Avenger!” Your boat looks as tiny, tough, and wobbly as my littlest client! 👍🏼
I got mine because I could carry it. I use an 8 foot paddle. It took 4 years launching on a cement boat ramp to wear a hole in it under the seat, but I was able to fix it with a heat gun & part of a red paint bucket & it's held for another year.
I named my Sundolphin Patriot 8.6 Sit-On-Top, Stimulus Package! Bought some stuff to run a mushroom anchor, rod holder, etc and converted into a saltwater fishing yak. $169 for the kayak and probably another 150 in conversion stuff. Next up - stabilizers. Works great now by the way.
