Hah Rob, you two we on the EXACT same groove/swing. Was honestly beautiful. Looks like you both had an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing man. Hope you and family are always good sir.
I learned to play guitar at a younger age, but I haven’t picked it up in years unfortunately so technically I am back to square one as far as learning goes. I also attempted to learn drums and saxophone at that same age just to explore, but it led nowhere besides getting a note on the saxophone on my first try!
I admit that I thoutht that in the first place. And usually I watch 1 min and then go to another video. But this looks so genuine and beautifull. A the the cool thing was that they made other people happy and smile.
@@xstian The funny thing is the artists are impressive enough without the fake “encounters”. Just watching 2 incredibly talented people play would be enough but they just have to give it more and it ends up turning off so many people to it
So glad to see an actual accidental encounter. Feels so much better than those terrible “I was so confused when out of nowhere this famous professional instrumentalist started playing along”
At no point in his performance did he ever look like he was concentrating. Always the sign of a good player, it flows naturally rather than requires concentration.
It's pretty clear this excellent violinist doesn't have all that much jazz experience to hang in there in the improv part, but he makes a bold attempt. Hat's off to you sir, you're a gamer!
@@bochapman1058 Honestly, I hear IZ. Judy Garland's version is classic, but something about Israel's version is just so much more... I don't know how to phrase it. Poignant? Memorable? Probably the wrong terms.
It's funny how, at the beginning of the video, the gentleman on the piano was basically saying, "Hey, make it quick, I have to go." But then he realized this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. Something I also realized was that there's a time and place for playing ALL THE NOTES, but it's always awesome when people understand that sometimes less is more.
Less is more... It's kind of like when you whisper about love. It's not overpowering but its overpowering. This was gorgeous. I would be thrilled to happen on to this scene.
Charles the pianist, could not resist but taking a video of this smart violinist who knows how to improvise. Man oh man, this was now nice. Thank you, Rob!
I've seen so many of those "playing an ukulele at airport and random orchestra joined" videos getting recommended to me (even fell for them the first time I've seen one), so it's really refreshing to see something genuine and real. I think the imperfections make it more human. Thanks Rob.
Rob I’m 65 I listened to this in bed on my headphones and my wife asked me why I was crying I love this song but the way you two guys played this was so good and made me emotional Thank you both so much that made my night, total respect to you both
I'm old now, and can barely play a radio, but seeing musicians just bump into each other, completely randomly and create such beauty makes me weep with joy.
Rob this is my first comment for you , iam a silent fan of your music from Egypt, i really enjoyed every single femto second of the 8:02 video, you and charles are true artists and a reason to live. Thank you❤
that is honestly one of the best things I've ever seen Rob do. Great song choice and great improv. Charles obviously didn't really want to play at the start, but only after a few bars he was so into it. Seriously, so well done to both of you. Amazing
❤❤❤. So beautiful! Brought tears to my eyes, not just the music, also the human interaction and the way the pianist smiled all the time. Thank you for doing this!
You know he's a really kind man when he has so much experience, plays really great AND admires while filming another artist who he never played with b4 (hopefully not fake 💀). Much respect for sharing the spotlight.
I teared up up listening to you guys. He is so smooth it’s like his fingers are performing a ballet on the keys. I am so glad he came back to music. Charles, I’m so glad you decided to come back to music .
That is true talent. Nothing staged. Just 2 musicians in their element and going with it. He looked unsure in the beginning, but, DUDE!, you converted him perfectly.
Having a rough day at work, but watching this video on a short lunch break gives energy to keep up. There seemed to be lot of audience by the applaudes you got. This was an amazing collab! ❤
I love this so much. Charles thought you were just some random shlub and was completely blown away. Looks like both of you had fun which means you were actually playing.
Thanks, you are one of the reason I started music et the reason I keep playing it now. I have so many things left to learn but moment like this and people like you are why I'm enjoying it! Just 2 strangers that meet and share there passion👏 thanks, I wish you the best ❤
What a beautiful genuine moment you both created! I love seeing videos like this! It was almost like you knew each other and had been playing together for years. So wonderful thanks for sharing! ❤
What a breath of fresh air. 2 very talented musicians just playing a song. That man was awesome! It's like the way you guys kind of pick up on cues and just make it flow. You'd never guess you were strangers. Bravo! I should have kept playing after highschool. I was on the tuba but was graded at 110%(hard to forget that) on guitar.
Really enjoyed that Rob, thanks! I played Viola for 5 years in middle school/high school. Got to 2nd chair in the chamber orchestra but it’s been over 15 years since I’ve played seriously. I still have a real love for it, so I love living vicariously through you.
it's the little things.. that are big things.. the way you seek to lift up other artists and are generous with praise. You could be the best violinist on earth and it would not mean anything compared to how you use your superpower right now.. sir, I commend you. .
Ah! Its soo goood! You just have to play jazz now! Jokes aside though, thanks for sharing man, "Music is like a relationship, there's give and take, and its about knowing when to let others shine and when to take the spotlight" this is super helpful to me! This just makes me love violin!
This really makes me miss playing music in band and with friends as kids. I have fallen away from it and this video highlights exactly what I miss. The non-verbal connection you can make, ease of creativity, and bonding that comes with playing music is so special. Thanks for sharing this genuine connection between two amazing musicians! The exploration of the song was a true joy to experience.
OML I would've honestly thought yall were a long-term duo based on how well yall meshed! What a unique treat to meet a musician you can truly vibe with, makes me miss playing all the more!

Great jam Rob! Gotta love impromptu sessions like this between two skilled musicians who love music and love to share it. Great for the players, and also the listeners! :)
I'm not entirely sure why I'm tearing up but there's just something about musicians being musicians like this that makes my heart soar! This was beautiful!
I have a sore throat and a throbbing headache, but for a scant few minutes it all melted away as the music flowed and the memories surfaced of cuddling on the couch as a little girl with Mom and Dad, watching the movie.
I’ve played with a few violinists before (as a percussionist) and it’s hard for classically trained players to try jazz. For many it’s a very big leap! But you jumped in there - of course with your amazingly trained ear which we’ve seen in previous videos - and did a very nice rendition, a mix between a traditional ballad-style and an improv around the theme. It was touching, especially seeing Charles getting a huge kick out of the collab. Hope you keep posting more of these impromptu jams! Thank you Rob
I’m a multi-instrumentalist and music teacher, but violin is my main instrument, Rob. Just wanted to say I thought you did a great job with Charles, considering you’re not a trained jazz violinist. You used your ears very well, and embellished around the melodic lines just enough to make it sound tasteful. It was cool that he let you play with him!
Thank you ❤ I was transported to those men playing while the titanic was sinking. Just so lost in the music the chaos all around you melts away. This was incredible ❤

I play a little guitar and if I sing, it will start raining, trust me on that one.

to be fair i'd be upset if someone shows up 1 min prior to closing also but if that someone entertained me i'd be lenient
