In all due respect folks this is how to properly aim a gun on a movie set.Any direction but not directly at a indiviual. Only if Baldwin had 10% of Matts brains then "Rust" may have been completed.

John Drew Barrymore (aka John Barrymore Jr) had some great roles in the 1950s & 60s but sadly destroyed that and himself as time went. The curse of his father who died when John Jr was just 10.
One great thing about this show is Miss Kitty didn't take any crap from anyone. Great example here.

Matt had no desire to arrest him or he would have had his gun drawn when he entered the bar. He wanted the gunfight. Andersen was way slow and was much faster earlier in the episode. Barrymore slowed up so Matt could get off the first shot and Arness never aimed the gun at him as even a blank discharge can fire off a fatal projectile. Ask Brandon Lee.
In the next season, Matt killed off Barrymore's character, Mason Storm, whose gang was robbing the town dry. John Drew Barrymore was awesome in both episodes.

Barrymore was signed to act in a episode of Star Trek (The Alternative Factor) but he never showed up the day shooting started and his agent didn't know where he was. The producer's had to scramble to find a replacement in the form of Robert Brown. The Star Trek producers took Barrymore to a hearing in front of SAG members where Charlton Heston was president. Barrymore offered no explanation for his conduct and so they took away his SAG card for 6 months.
