Ages ago, I said that you give me old school Beakman's World vibes and I 10000% stand by that statement, haha. You are an expert when it comes to bringing a lightheartedness and sense of fun to these complex subjects. I'm an engineer by day and love educational deep-dives like this! As an interesting factoid, you compared your new light to the older aquarium lights that have a blue-ish hue. While they aren't the most appealing, the blue aspect serves an important purpose in an aquarium setting. It provides lighting in a way that won't promote algae growth or interfere with a day/night cycle for the fish while still providing benefits to fish/aquatic life. It's pretty fascinating that everything serves a unique purpose on the spectrum!

    • @betsybegonia

Yes, I was reading about that as I got lost down a rabbit hole specifically about the benefits of blue light in plant care. Really interesting stuff to sit around and read when one isn't knee deep in Vlogmas. 😂

I love that you give honest reviews, show us the ins and outs and then give us updates later to see the worth of the product and how it effected the plants, etc. I loooooove it. Your delivery is also just amazing and the edits hilarious. Your journey with your surgery is also the reason I finally decided to go through with it. I was like “if Betsy can do this. I can.” I will watch those videos during my healing to remind myself that I’m not alone ha ha is there anyway you could find some more affordable like under $100 lights that might work just as well? Do your aquarium lights help at all or is it just enough to keep them alive but not thriving? Just curious.

Go look at the specs on this light. First , NO ONE measures PAR in percentages. 92% PAR is meaningless. Now look at the PPFD. At 4inches ( 10 CM ) it has barely enough light output to keep a plant alive, Now look at efficiency 86 Lumens per Watt is TERRIBLE, about what a CFL bulb produces... I have a lamp that I converted from fluorescent to LED. The strips are 3 years old and were rated THEN at 192 Lumens per watt! And lastly, the rating CRI is totally without meaning in a plant light. CRI is a measurement of how the human eye precieves the color of light.
Get your lighting information from someone who knows what they are talking about, not some clueless " influencer"! Or you could just buy it because it's pretty....

Dude, I read about this extensively online and there are scientists in the comments commending me on my explanation. Mother had nothing to do with my research, I did not even use their site as a resource. They are simply the sponsor of my video on the topic of lights because it's a related product.
Also, my plants are thriving under this light. I don't know what to tell you besides it works, and much better than any other CFL or LED lights I've put my plants under.
And no, CRI is not relevant to the efficiency of the lamp in terms of plant growth, but it is important to me in shopping for a light. I said in this video that I consider what the lamp looks like to me as well and that I take things like the Kelvin output or CCT into consideration.because I don't want a light that is offensively white or blue. The lights I have on the top two shelves make my plants look blueish green and it's not pleasing to my eye. For personal reasons I prefer a light that has a warmer temperature and a light that reveals colors more faithfully in comparison with a natural light source. That's a personal preference and it isn't what this video is about at all--I don't even bring up CRI. I don't know why you're so hung up on the fact that this company gives the CRI in its specifications, I don't see why it's a problem for you or how it's relevant to the info I've provided about grow lights in general.
I never told anyone that Mother is the only light worth buying. I told them about Mother and used it as a quick example because it's the only lamp I own that gives these specifications on the website. I don't care what lights people buy, but PAR, PPFD, and DLI are real guides and measurements that we can use to calculate how much light specific plants thrive on and how to use lighting elements to meet those requirements.

Also, just because I am a content creator and I accept sponsorships to pay my bills, doesn't make me incapable of research, analysis, and providing accurate information about this topic. You're using that word like an insult. I'm an intelligent and articulate human being with a reputation for investigating topics at length to provide information and translate it into more basic terms and simple concepts. I'm a content creator who puts education first and I promote the practice of gathering data and checking sources as well as understanding the difference between a reputable and untrustworthy source. I often provide my audience with links to studies.
