    The war of hormone thing honestly never bothered me, the entire concept was about hormonal teenage boys like that’s LITERALLY the point
    ( to add to this lmao, it never said that this was how girls should be treated. Its not meant to be taken seriously, if anyone does even the slightest bit of research or knows anything about BTS, it’s that they aren’t sexist or mysoginistic, also the way the first comment was worded doesn’t make sense but u got the idea lmao )

      Exactly, guys in teens/young men get horny and look towards women. It's a cycle of life. Hence why we all exist... Sex! Well most of us aren't test tubes babies so that's where I'm coming from lol.
      Is it offensive to some because our Angels aren't as pure as once thought? Nothing wrong with sex at all. That equation line they sing is cute to me. But I do not offend easy and try to understand the "why" behind things.

    To speak on behalf of American ARMY, I can confirm that most of us feel the same. We get happy when we see them in interviews, but they get repetitive and boring because the writes don’t care enough to make it entertaining. They are just using BTS for views.
    Also, on an unrelated note, I wish they spoke more about BTS’s music as a whole aside from just asking about LY....The music is why I’m here, yet all we hear about are the fans, their looks, or popularity. The focus needs to be on the work they create and not their fame.

    • @athina2685
      @athina2685 5 лет назад +16

      Right! I’m a us army and I hate watching most of their American interviews because the interviewers do bare minimum research on them and that’s all they care about p.s I hate it when they ask bts about girlfriends like even if they any of them had one they wouldn’t tell you

    • @starryhyunjin7165

      The ignorance of interviewers with their dumb questions and egotistical questions drives me INSANE. BTS is not like other boy bands WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE SO POPULAR, they aren’t just about looks or girlfriends but about loving and accepting yourself for who you are.

    • @Kate-tk1mg
      @Kate-tk1mg 5 лет назад +4

      well i mean obviously they use them for views, that’s what media outlets are for lol but BTS uses them too. it’s a win win situation cause BTS gets more exposure and the media outlet gets more views, and its the same for all US celebrities too. I only get angry when it’s clear they have done no research and know nothing about their music, but other than that I’m happy for BTS bc i know that getting to go on US shows is a big accomplishment for them

  • @lexi.0378
    @lexi.0378 5 лет назад +1777

    i think that the lyrics in war of hormone are almost purposely misogynistic bc if you just look at the title and the overall song i think the lyrics are about the sudden rush of hormones teenage boys get, not just about wanting sex but this new admiration for the female body that they can’t quite control, hence the “war” of hormone, almost like they’re trying to fight it. yes, the lyrics do go a bit too far but i don’t think they had bad intentions with it.

    • @alexb.5100

      yeah i agree. in context of the whole dark & wild album (my fave to date 4ever and ever) is all about love and what i like to think as the subsections of love as in love to another being, love to an art (as in music), lust, dangers of love and so on. war of hormone was what i saw as in the feeling of attraction at first sight or lust subsection. it talked about what's only on the outside which im NOT saying you can't love. it's just idk i always felt uncomfortable ever since i watched the music video with the closed captions on. to this day, this is the only song from bts that i skip. maybe some fans don't find it uncomfortable but i do and that's okay.
      also, i would like to add that sometimes i see people defending the lyrics saying that they aren't so bad and that they actually kind of like it. honestly, i think that it's okay to not agree with our idols and we don't have to follow along with everything they do.
      thanks for reading my ted talk.

    When I heard about the shirt situation, I did not believe everything that was told. I did not feel disappointment towards Jimin because I know that he's not that kind of a person. I did my own research and found out the root of the problem. I think what we should learn from that issue is we shouldn't trust everything that we see or hear on the internet and research first before reacting. BTS is getting bigger and bigger and I'm sure that there will be bigger issues that will "test" them and us as BTS and ARMY. So we need to be more cautious.

    • @EM-rm2xh
      @EM-rm2xh 5 лет назад +75

      I was really disappointed with how western media picked up the story and how western fans (and non-fans) first reacted. It shows how little knowledge the west has of East Asian history and the complicated relationship between South Korea and Japan. What happened to Jimin and BTS was never about a T-shirt. And the fact that western artists have promoted in Japan with no issue having worn shirts that were WAY WORSE (ie. *not* Independence Day shirts--which is what his shirt was--but rather shirts with a full on picture of a nuclear explosion on it) while in Japan is telling. This was due to a decades long, ongoing dispute between two nations, and unfortunately, BTS got stuck in the crossfire and been made into a symbol/scapegoat by Japanese media/politicians/far right JPN extremists.
      If anyone's interested, fans put together an analysis of the entire ordeal called the White Paper Project. I'll link it below. Basically a group of professionals (writers, engineers, teachers, students specializing in history, etc.) got frustrated with the mis-information and decided to lay things out. Really informative and interesting.

      as a korean I found it very disappointing that jimin wore that shirt. I’m an army forever but I couldn’t help but be disappointed and I as an army I won’t bias my opinions. The shirt itself isn’t the problem but nuclear bomb is really saddening. Yes it stopped a horrible war but it killed so many innocent people and to flaunt it on a T-shirt with liberation day it just makes me sad. Would you wear a shirt with a bomb on it that may have saved your people but also killed so many innocent people who didn’t know anything? Of course there would be controversy. I know he is a kind person and he didn’t mean it like that way but that still does not make the shirt okay imo

      I agree with you. It's like this year so much happened to BTS (achievements, issues, concerts, stage performances, appearance, and etc.) that they discussed whether to disband or not. To much pressure onto them and expectation. They really need a big break. I don't want them to be on the point that they won't be happy on being an idol anymore.

      @@chiyukino Yeah. They deserve a break, but no bon voyage, no summer package, nothing. Just the seven of them to do as they please. Taehyung mentioned once that he wanted to go on a trip where they got to show each other their hometowns, he also mentioned going without cameras. I hope bighit lets them do that. Even better, I hope they've already done that...
      But now, there's that world tour... I don't think they have the time. They're so busy they haven't been on a reality TV show for months, maybe even a year? Ever since Knowing Brothers, they haven't been on any others.
      Run BTS isn't a thing anymore either, which is sad because I really enjoyed watching them smile and goof off.
      I seriously hope bighit gives them a well deserved a rest. At the rate they're working now, I'm afraid it might affect their mental health...

      WOH lyrics are a bit too much but i think that song describes things that happen to teen boys their sexual attractions desires and etc. they talk about school youth maturing and that aspect is definitely part of youth also it suits dark&wild theme

    • @galaxywanderer5455
      @galaxywanderer5455 5 лет назад +9

      See, if you have ever studied about male psychology during adolescence, you would know what I am talking about. When a guy is going through puberty his testosterone is at its peak. If he is straight he is definitely going to think of women in a sexual way whom he is sexually attracted to. It would be objectifying if all they think about women is in a sexual way which is not restricted to hormonal peak or anything. A guy will objectify women aka think of them as nothing more than sexual objects if he does not learn how to respect women as humans. And trust me, I am not defending them just because I stan them. This is the reality. Sexual attraction in itself is not objectifying. Objectification is a mindset.
      They could have toned down the lyrics a bit. Poems and song lyrics around the world have always described female body in a sexual way and I have seen much worse. I come from India where sex is a major taboo but poems from all times have descriptions of female body often metaphorically which usually have much dirtier meanings.
      All I am trying to say is even if this lyrics did not exist you cannot change the way straight men think about women. Personally, I think the only way to be in peace with the fact is to be okay with it as long as they know how to respect women as human beings.
      PS: I am just stating why I don't think the lyrics is bad. If you still think it is not right then that is fine as well.

    about the jimin’s shirt controversy: why would he hate japan when bts gives ALL of their attention to japanese armys? i do have a point.

    • @makarisland
      @makarisland 5 лет назад +13

      JungshOOk I think that would be a weak point though. The reason Japanese kpop fans receive so much attention from the kpop industry is pretty much purely for commercial reasons: Japan is kpop’s main money maker as it is the second largest music market in the world. I don’t see any reason as to why Jimin would hate japan either but I don’t think the attention and content directed towards J-army correlates to BTS’ or BigHit’s perceptions about the country, it’s almost certainly for the money, and as of late also the immense popularity they’ve gained in JP. Besides, I personally think BTS doesn’t give Japanese fans as much attention as other companies and artists seem to do, imo bighit and bts distributes the attention more evenly compared to many others in the industry

    I wasn't offended by war of hormones. I actually love it. With this "backlash" the message I'm getting is that it is wrong to be a teen boy/young man and have a perfectly normal and biological sexual attraction to a female. To state what you LIKE a girl to wear (not telling her WHAT to wear, BIG difference there folks), what physically excites you about said girl is wrong. Even more so to put these things in a song. There was nothing disrespectful or vulgar in the lyrics. As for expensive girl, RM was very young and only following the trend/example set by American hip hop. (It's still cringey though.) Ok I'm jumping off my soapbox. Carry on

    i like bts’ storyline/theories the best too. i never really liked exo’s storyline, even tho i stan them, bc it seems kinda childish. the power orbs and home planets are kinda interesting but i’m over it😂 i don’t even know where to begin with monsta x’s storyline. even they don’t know what’s going on LOL

    and for jimin’s controversy, it’s honestly just a shirt. sometimes i don’t even realize the pictures on my shirt in depth until after i’ve worn it. if i think it looks nice, i’ll buy it. i definitely am not looking for a deeper meaning🗿

  • @trash2853

    I was told that the meaning of idol was to tell people that they weren't turning western because people kept saying that 'tear' was very western, so thats why a lot of people in America liked it. So for idol they went with a lot of noise and more colors and random stuff on the MV because Korea tends to be like that? But the point of the song was to show that they weren't different that they were still the boys we love and care about. A lot of people said bts changed after "dark and wild" and then that they changed again for the whole love yourself thing. I honestly still love them no matter what era they decide to stick with weither it's their bad boy era or there soft boy era. Anyway the point of this comment was to say I guess I get why you didn't really think idol was an AMAZING title track.

    • @fairytalearts810
      @fairytalearts810 5 лет назад +1

      I don’t know where all the thing about them ‘not being western’ or ‘they’re trying to keep they’re korean identity and that why they made Idol’ is coming from, but from the lyrics it’s clearly stated that they are dissing the haters. They even mentioned it themselves when reacting to it, e.g; Jungkook at the beginning, ‘And this was when they told us we didn’t practice enough’ or the part with RM and the filters was because people had told him he looked ugly with filters. I understand why most people didn’t enjoy Idol too much, but I just hope it’s not because everyone’s assuming it’s because they’re trying to keep their korean identity or whatever.

In America still, almost everyone in schools will bash you for liking and appreciating K-POP and Korean culture (and J-POP and Japanese culture as well) because most of America is full w pretty shitty people especially where I live (Michigan). I’ve seen America trying to get clout from kpop and fake fans hyping up DNA and Taehyung and that’s it. Like of course DNA is a bop but it’s not the greatest of all their songs and of course we love Tae, but these girls don’t even make an effort to try and ya know, actually learn their history and other members and appreciate them for who they are. It’s just whack.

    • @sofia_with_an_f
      @sofia_with_an_f 4 года назад +1

      I think who you prefer as rapper really depends on your style. Like, apart from their voices sounding different, each of them focuses on certain specific aspects. For example, Suga goes for very raw, often emotional lyrics and plays a lot with speed, while RM goes for more metaphorical language and introspective lyrics with a focus on wordplay. J-Hope's rap is a combination of those, lyrically, but with the drawback that he doesn't usually go all out for either, so it's more of a balance, yet at the same time, he is the most experimental when it comes to changing the flow and beat along with his voice's texture/pitch/intonation (and he does this often).
      But I think we can all agree that they are all amazing rappers and that every single stutter rap is high-key iconic.
      (Think RM in Ddaeng, Suga in Daechwita, and J-Hope in Ugh)
      [Edit: I am a year late to the convo but who cares? Not me 😂]

The lyrics were realistic and honest, i still listen to WOH idc if it got backlash, i see nothing wrong with it. I agree with most of these accept that idol wasn't their best title track. Unpopular opinion 4: I wouldn't call that unpopular as most army say this. Most prefer Yoongi's rap over Namjoon's. I am one of the few who prefer Namjoon but that is partially because he's my bias
    Unpopular opinion 9: yes they desperately need rest but at this very moment BTS is the only source of income for Bighit, relying heavily on them. Just as in JYP over half of their income comes from Twice so obviously they are also gonna be overworked and JYP even have many more artists. When the new boy group debuts, it's hopefully gonna be lesser work for them because let's face it, that new group is also gonna be famous because they come from Bighit, no matter what
    Unpopular opinion 11: yes during TMBMIL era the story line was good and very relatable but now where there is time travel or worm holes or whatever are involved, i dont know about you but I personally am not Doctor Who and can't really relate to the idea of travelling back in time to change the timeline, so to me the story line has just gotten out of hand

    tear is the best LY album
    i do agree that america is taking bts for advantage
    jimin is best aegyo tho ):
    yoongi raps faster baybe he should be rapmon
    idol is iconic but yes it isnt the greatest, i think fake love would top it for sure, i only like jhope, suga and jimins parts in the mv
    i really do enjoy save me more than fire, it just grabs me with the maknaes tbh although jimin with red and glasses was HOT
    im confused on why war of hormone was called out lmao, but yes 21 century girl did make up for it

      Jimin has been the Main Dancer of BTS since 2013 (i.e. since their debut).
      Don't be a solo stan. Kookie and Jimin get the most centers because they are the ones mostly singing the chorus or have the most lines. Plus, Jungkook is the Center and Jimin is the 2nd center so, it'll be a problem if they ain't in the center since it's their position.

    do you really not see anything wrong with the lyrics for war of hormone? the song purposely tries to downplay woman and act like their only purpose is to be the source of pleasure for men. “us guys just do them”, that lyric specifically makes it seem like the only thing women are here for is satisfy men, it’s disgusting. plus you saying “they were young and immature” kinda makes it seem like being young is an excuse for being sexist. it makes it seem like that it’s normal for young boys to think of woman as objects. i don’t really know if that was the intention of what you were saying, but that’s what it felt like. honestly i don’t even know where bts got this mindset from, but im glad they’ve changed. although you were right in saying 21st century girl makes up for it, it’s important to admit that war of hormone is still wrong, we cannot change what happened in the past, but also cannot just erase their actions.

    • @bangtans1524

      thats the pOint. as a teenager myself, i can tell u that many male teenagers think like that. they think of woman being a use of pleasure. theyre hormonal. theyre at a stage in life where they are growing up and having these thoughts. ive heard many boys call women objects, and saying theyre only used for sex n shit. i dont know if ur living in the 90s or sum, but this is pretty normal.

    • @angeimendoza576
      @angeimendoza576 5 лет назад +4

      Ella Rafisura I can agree with you there on that one line. BUT the song does actually give women a bit of confidence. And I say that because of the lines "your front is the best. Your back is the best. From your head to your toes. You’re the best." Also lines like 'my real wish is only you.’ ‘Girls are the best’ and ‘If the standard of beauty is in the ocean, you’re the Seriously Sea 1’ war of hormone isn’t a really bad song but I can agree that it has some misunderstood lyrics. But it shouldn’t be getting the backlash it’s getting. We all know that the song wasn’t made out to be disrespectful or masochistic.

    My unpopular opinion :
    - this hurts me to say this but with BTS becoming ‘millionaires’ is starting to make me lose a bit of respect for them but before u say ‘Wtf they are idols’ listen to what I have to say
    When I first found BTS, they were unlike anything I’ve seen before. But they had a sense of purity to them that I could not find in any other artist.
    But like take the Melon Music Awards for example....they were all wearing expensive Gucci clothes etc. And it makes me rethink a lot abt how even groups like BTS use money in this way which makes me disappointed. I understand that they have worked so hard to get where they are today but even I think that they don’t deserve that much money etc.

Taehyung and Jungkook are always purchasing cameras for themselves because their into photography and filming. Tae even bought paintings for his apartment. And what's wrong in buying clothes they like? Expensive clothes doesn't mean the person is not humble any more. They worked hard to earn that money. They can spend their money on anything. It's weird that as a fan, you're going to judge them for the kind of clothes they wear. Lol. Are you here for their clothes or their music?

    (listen y’all. I made made the mistake of learning about the members before listening to their music to see if I like it. So don’t tell me that just because I’m not an army, that I’m hating on them. These boys went from almost disbanding to becoming one of the most prominent things in pop history, and I respect them for that. They deserve the fame.)
    >The LY: X era was disappointing. I listened to all the songs on all three albums and I only liked airplane pt. 2. Fake love was okay, but it got boring after a bit (rap still slaps tho)
    >The storylines in the music video isn’t appealing in my opinion. I’m just trynna sit here and watch a video not decipher every goddamn interaction between y’all.
    >Idol and Blood, Sweat & Tears weren’t it for me. Those were the first two BTS songs I have heard, and that’s why I didn’t give them a try for another year or so. Idol gave me extreme second hand embarrassment for some reason, and BS&T just didn’t stick with me.
    >Their hip hop days were a bit better in terms of music for me. Most of my favorite BTS songs like Baepsae, No More Dream, and Spinebreaker come from the earlier albums. In case y’all can’t tell already, I like more rock/hip hip styled Kpop, and the first BTS albums delivered, but even them I still only liked 2-3 songs per album.
    >They need to let go of the fact that people don’t like them. They’ve already proved that they are better, so why be petty and keep making songs about how they won’t get to them, but the fact that they are making songs about it only feeds the flames more 🤔
    >RM is better at wordplay and references, Yoongi is better at setting tone and speed, but J-Hope’s voice and just the way his lines sound make him the best rapper in BTS imo.
    >V’s deep and breathy voice don’t mix well to me. In House of Cards (which is one of my favorite slower Kpop songs) his voice is just _so fucking breathy_ I thought that in the studio he had to take a breath after each word. I like it when he sings loud and clear (also can we just appreciate the fact that his voice dropped like 15 octaves since No More Dream? I wish puberty hit my cords like that.)
    >Jimin is the superior vocalist fight me
    >They ain’t gay y’all, due to all the toxic masculinity that we see in the world, we all automatically assume that two guy friends that like to hug each other and have overall more physical contact with each other is gay. Yeah, they might be a bit to friendly (looking @ u jimin) sometimes but comments among comments saying that vkook should just come out with a tape already and how jimin is the ult bottom for literally everyone just because he has a soft voice and overall gives slightly androgynous vibes ain’t it y’all.
    Now that don’t mean that bit hit isn’t the ultimate gaydar and casted 7 homos to sing about being the loneliest whale and being smooth like a snake.
    Sorry If I sounded rude, that’s just me and my humor. You don’t gotta agree with me, but at least respect them and me. If anyone of y’all tell me to kms bc I don’t like ur Taehyung oppar or ur Jungkook oppar I will literally shove 100 Jin photo-cards up Trump’s ass.
    lol that’s all I got for today don’t attack me just bc I don’t think of them as the next Jesus or some shit like that, I don’t stan but I respect. Now go stan stray kids and exo, and most importantly, pay respect to dreamie mark bc he gone be dead on the 31st.

But I’m not gonna write a full blown essay on why I think some of the things you said were bullshit. Anyways, the part about their diss tracks were not my favorite: it’s not like they’ve been rapping about B-Free for years on end (in case you didn’t know, B-Free is some wannabe rapper that called BTS’ rapper line all types of things straight to their faces so they made a whole song dedicated to him without even saying his name) but rather they’ve been making songs to each issue they are faced with. Instead of “”going off”” on Twitter like immature teenagers they produce bops instead 🤷🏽‍♀️ But I respect all your opinions even tho I disagree,,,
      (Btw the whole part about how people shouldn’t come at you because you don’t like their “Taehyung and Jungkook oppar” was not it sis. And the shameless promotion for Stray Kids ((who I stan rather hard)) and EXO and then the comment on Mark ((lmao I love him tho)) was just not necessary,,,)
