J you are definately right, this band is CRIMINALLY underated!!!! Dave Menketti's vocals and guitar playing are phenomenal!! This was my first concert i ever went to back in 1984 and Y&T blew me away! Been a fan ever since! Check out Rock & Roll's Gonna Save The World next!!!
My band opened for them right after they got signed to London Records... it was a Saturday concert at the Contra Costa County Fair in Antioch CA Summer of 1974... yep I'm old too!
Hell yes!!! Y&T is my favorite band. I live, breath and bleed Y&T since I was 15 years old (I'm 53 now). Dave is the reason I started playing guitar. I've seen them 14 times over the years. Dave is one of the coolest and most down to earth, nicest guys you'll ever meet. He is the only original one still living and is still kicking ass live. You guys should check out Midnight in Toyko or a more recent one is, On with the show. Y&T forever!!!!!!!!
Y&T's "Black Tiger" is my absolute favorite of theirs! You will love the spooky, cinematic intro...you'll close your eyes and think you are in a jungle!
My favorite Y&T song without question! The guitar and drums are mixed perfectly, and the vocals especially on that final note is just incredible. The intro and outro also make this song so unique, memorable and special. It should have been a radio single and a video done for it, I think it would have been a massive hit on rock radio had they put it out there...
Dave Meneketti is the best singer / guitar player lost on this generation. 'Eyes of a Stranger' is incredible. He also had prominent vocals on Hear N'Aid which is the ultimate collaboration.
The ultimate head banging song. I have listen to Forever for over 40 years and every time I hear it my head starts bobbing uncontrollably. The vocalist is also the lead guitarist so he killing it on this song with his singing and guitar playing. Shout out to Dave Meniketti who is still playing live at 70 years old. I would recommend either Mean Steak which was the first video they ever released or Don’t Stop Running which was their second music video they ever released. Both are rocking songs with great guitar playing. Can’t go wrong with either of those 2 songs.
In memory of the original Y&T members: Phil Kennemore (bass), Joey Alves (guitar) and Leonard Haze (drums) ... R.I.P. This was from 1982, the album 'Black Tiger'... Dave Meniketti (vocals & guitar) needs much more praise & recognition 🤘🤘 Y&T - "Don't be afraid of the dark" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘
Leonard "Thunderfoot" Haze was one of my Facebook friends. One of the most amazing, down to earth guys you could ever meet. Leonard is responsible for the band's name, as when they were about the sign a record deal, they needed a band name. In the record company office, was a Beatles album, "Yesterday And Today" . Being blunt and unpretentious, Leonard grabs it and goes , "how about Yesterday and Today?". And so the story began. After an album, they shortened it to the brevity of Y&T and have been melting faces since the mid 70's. They have a huge following in Japan, And yes, with the plethora of successful hard rock and metal bands, they often haven't gotten their due. But here in the Bay Area, they are the hometown heroes, whether in a huge arena or a small club or a dive bar. Wherever Y&T plays, you are going to get your money's worth. And wine lovers, Dave Meniketti and his wife own a vineyard and produce the award winning Meniketti Wines. Bon apetit!
Y&T have been a huge favorite of mine since I first heard Summertime Girls on the radio. I have every album they have made and I will love their music till I leave this earth. Dave Meniketti and his song writing and his guitar work are as underrated as the band is, it’s a shame they never got the recognition they deserve. One of my favorites, besides the other two songs you’ve reacted to, is Ten Lovers, a masterpiece of a song that builds to a triumphant crescendo of a song, if you try listening to it you’ll know what I mean. Stay Cool 😎 and… \m/ Stay Metal \m/
Immediate full body chills hearing the intro and the end as Dave’s voice is epic! One of my favorite songs by them. You should check out a live video where you can really see Dave’s passion and soul!!! The older he gets, the better he gets! Like fine wine… 🍷
So funny, the song I heard in my brain before you played this was Y&T's "Surrender," from the TEN album in 1990! Also, hearing this again makes me want to listen to ALL of their songs again right now!! Great job again Rob Squad!
One of the best ballads ever is I believe in you. Another favorite is Hands of Time. Great band and they are touring Europe again in 2024. I will be there.
I think why Y&T didn't hit as big as some other 80s bands is because they were a bit early then took to long to catch the wave. They actually started in the early seventies as Yesterday & Today. They were seventies hard rock and performing for ten years by the time the LA hair metal explosion happened. They were in that realm but a bit older so maybe didn't relate as well as other bands to young kids. They had a couple of hair metal sounding albums but it was to late by then. My favorite songs/albums are Mean Streak and Black Tiger.
Y&T are from around me. (Silicon Valley) Huge following here locally. Their Live album from 1991 was recorded locally (San Jose, Ca.) on New Years Eve (12/31/90) I’ve known Dave (Meneketti) for years! Great down to earth guy! ❤️❤️❤️👍 One of their largest following’s are from Japan!
I LOVE Y&T! One of my all time favorite bands. Definitely one of my earliest favorites since I grew up only about an hour from their home base in Oakland. Drummer Leonard Haze was nicknamed Thunder Foot for his super fast powerful bass drum. He definitely doesn’t get enough recognition. Dave Meniketti still wails on lead guitar and his voice is still amazing. Since you love storytelling songs do much, you need to listen to Barroom Boogie, Mean Streak and Don’t Stop Runnin’ next
Y & T and Riot. Both excellent 80s Hard Rock bands. Criminally underrated. The first 2 albums by Yesterday And Today, are Hard Rock Classics. Same [ 76 ] and Struck Down [ 78 ]
I love Y&T. I grew up in the bay area in California. So did they. Watched them live so many times. They actually played at my high school about four years before I went there. Pretty cool. Hope you guys love them.
Y&T are criminally underrated. They're from my neck of the woods here in the San Francisco Bay Area. A friend of mine is a former bass player. I'm glad you enjoyed... So many really great songs.
Jay and Amber... I second this recommendation! Dave is incredible with his singing but his guitar work is fantastic on "I believe in you" is the lyrics are inspiring as well.
HELL yeah! I was just talking to a friend yesterday about seeing these guys in 2012, they rocked for 2 hours straight and ended with a tribute to Ronnie James Dio by covering 'Rainbow In The Dark'--great band!
Y&T is SUCH an underappreciated band! My absolute favorite song of theirs... the live version of "I Believe In You" from the live album "Open Fire" Such a passionate guitar solo! And Meniketti's voice is just as great live as it is on the studio recordings. There can never be enough lead singers who double as the lead guitarist.
Growing up in the Bay Area, Ca I got to see these guys so many times. At The Stone, The Omni and The Edge. I love my Bay Area guys!! "Meanstreak", "Forever" and "Black Tiger" are my favorites!
Oh boy Y & T. First time seeing them back around 77 opening for Boston in SF at the Winterland Arena I was a goofy teenage drummer and there was a buzz about there drummer Leonard Haze He was as good as the rumors were saying. The other barely known band called “Boston” completely blew me away. 😂.
You said it. I saw so many new bands opening up shows that went on to stardom back then. I’m thinking of a list in my head as I’m texting Have a fantastic day. 🤘
@@billc.5861 I'm so jealous, I was born in 75, so I actually missed most of the 70s, and 80s, but, I'm definitely an 80s, glam, hard rock, metal, Aor, child.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....for giving Y&T (Yesterday and Today) the respect that they SO deserve!!! your taste for quality R&R is IMPECCABLE! Love you guys and everything that you do. I have been with you from the beginning and I wish bountiful blessings and prosperity for your wonderful family. God Bless!!.... a personal (and overlooked) favorite Y&T song for me is "Down and Dirty". trust me, you will LOVE it!
Thank you so much for getting back to this awesome band! When I go to rock or metal shows, I always wear my Y&T shirt. I get one of two reactions. Either people come up tome and say I love Y&T. Or they say who the hell is Y&T? To them I say do yourself a favor and check them out. You won't be sorry.
Canadian Band was April Wine you were thinking of? Roller Y&T Are Great, Forever is the mountain top, but so many layers underneath!! Keep On Running should do next.
Love to see you guys reacting to, and enjoying one of my favorite Y&T songs! You both get the heavy, high energy, from the heart vibes that Dave Meneketti brings. They are deeper than most 80's bands, although they have some commercial stuff as well. They're earlier tunes are more hard rock. Please check out, "Beautiful Dreamer ", "I Believe in You", "My Heart Plays Too", "25 Hours a Day", or "Black Tiger".. thanks.
Game Playing Woman from their debut, is one of their best. As Yesterday And Today. Released in 76. Struck Down from 78 is also real good. Great Guitar and Drum work on these two albums. Hard Rock classics.
Thank you for getting back to them finally. Some others are "Go For The Throat" "Open Fire" 'Masters And Slaves". But I only know of one other song you did by them and it was "Rescue Me"
I only got to experience Y & T live one time, but it was an outstanding performance during Day On The Green 1985 at the Oakland Coliseum. What a linenup of rockers that day. A band I'd never heard of called Victory opened up, but the billed acts were Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, Metallica, Y & T, Ratt, and the Scorpions. Good times.
HELL YEAH!!! I love Y&T. One great one to check out is Keep On Running from the album In Rock We Trust. It's a good video full of great 80s cheese lol. Maybe Summertime Girls, Midnight In Tokyo, Black Tiger... Hard to go wrong.
Got to see them Live w/Twisted Sister...Y&T does Rock! I would turn up the stereo volume when I played their albums in the barracks at NAS Alameda in the first half of the 80's.
Fool For Your Loving- Whitesnake. J/A another big classic banger from the mid 80s that I’m pretty confident both of you will like. Love to see you get back to them as well. Thanks for this reaction and keeping us entertained!
Another Rainy Night Without You- Queensryche. J/A very confident you will like the beat to this uptempo classic tune off the same album as Jet City Woman. Would love to see you get back to them. Thanks for this great Y&T reaction!

@@LiberalsArePoop Fight to Survive, is their best album. Not one weak song. El salvador, Fight To Survive, In The City, Kid Of 1000 Faces, The Road To Valhalla, Cherokee, All The Fallen Men, are bangers.
One of the best live performances you’ll see. Dave and Co. go 100% every show. It’s a shame they don’t get the recognition they truly deserve. Lonely Side of Town, Midnight in Tokyo, Summertime Girls, Masters and Slaves….. all great Y&T songs!
They did get a lot of attention back in the 80s underground metal scene. They didn’t go commercial and that’s why they didn’t get the recognition they deserved.
I don't know why this band was not way bigger than they got. Great live band. Saw em open for Motley Crue on the Theatre Of Pain tour. Their album Rock and Rolls Gonna Save The World is badass. Check out a deep cut called Masters And Slaves.
One of my favorite bands. Very underrated. They inspired a lot of bands that came after them. Not sure if you've done "Don't Stop Runnin'" or "Contagious", but I think those are a couple of their biggest hits.
Awesome that you reacted to this. I learned this on guitar. Its hard to play. The mid section. I mean; its not hard in one sense. But keeping up with the intensity can be difficult. Its a workout!
I was a freshman in high school in 1984 and was introduced to Y&T with the In Rock We Trust L.P. Life, Life, Life was the very first track I heard and was sold ever since. Break Out Tonight, This Time, Lipstick and Leather, Rock and Rolls Gonna Save The World, Don't Stop Running and the rest... That album would be a great place to start any new Y&T fan to begin their journey
Criminally underrated band. I was born about 10 years to late. While people were listening to Nirvana and Pearl Jam at my highschool, I was cranking out YandT, Motley Crue, Kiss, Ect. Ect.
Yes!! I'm so glad ya'll finally got to this one. My favorite Y&T song! It's even better live. Check out Mean Streak and Keep On Running. BTW...Blackfoot aren't Canadian, lol. Perhaps you're referring to April Wine?
True, I think they've already done that. Y&T were me and my friends Summertime band between high school and university! Then my neighbors at university were rockers through and through! Classic, Hard Rock, and Metal blared from them. This is one of those tracks. Tony, guitarist next door helped me meet Bon Jovi. We snuck into the coliseum and was busted during their soundcheck. They were very cool when we met them and didn't call the cops so we could attend their concert that night.
Another band from that era that did not get the recognition is Shotgun Messiah. Heartbreak Blvd is my favorite. You'll love this band. Great Y&T reaction. Keep up the great reactions.
Saw them in Berkeley in the 80's at the old Keystone Club and they were incredible. They had just changed from going by Yesterday and Today. The opening band was great too, a bunch of cousins and brothers out of Oakland called Togetherness, the best Hendrix tribute band I've ever seen or heard.
Wow, great to see Y&T (formerly Yesterday & Today) getting some love on the channel. I used to go see these guys in the late 70's perform at clubs in the S.F. Bay area, seen them countless times, always great shows. Their first LP, Yesterday & Today is a great album, although they didn't get the recognition they deserved with so many other great SF bay area bands around at that time.
WHITESNAKE - " Give Me All Your Love Tonight " ... the year was 1987 when this song plus many other ones hit the radio waves and became their best selling album, for it's Rock & Metal sound that to this day are still very popular.
They got plenty of cred back in the day; you see kids being there provides perspective I met Dave and three of his beauties at a winery in Napa CA 1996ish nice warm and extremely confident chap.
Meniketti and Y&T belong in the Rock and Roll hall of fame!! 50+ years of heavy rocking!!!

Man, good song, but their previous album was so awesome - El Salvador is a great, great song.
Yes, some White Lion Pleasssse!
@@LiberalsArePoop Fight to Survive, is their best album. Not one weak song. El salvador, Fight To Survive, In The City, Kid Of 1000 Faces, The Road To Valhalla, Cherokee, All The Fallen Men, are bangers.
That was our wedding song.
Great band!!! I love these guys
Y&T and Dave M are 80's legends in the Bay Area (NorCal)! I love it when my childhood musical heroes gets their flowers from the younger generation!!!
What was the 3rd reaction? I only saw 2 reactions from Y&T!!!! Lol
True. It looks like they've only done "Rescue Me" and now "Forever".
Y&T, Y&T, Y&T!!!!! lol
Check out Tesla's "Modern Day Cowboy" for some more killer guitar.
Yes! We are definitely over due for another Tesla reaction.
@@Rocker1983 Hang Tough would be great too.
Hang Tough is great.
Awesome that you reacted to this. I learned this on guitar. Its hard to play. The mid section. I mean; its not hard in one sense. But keeping up with the intensity can be difficult. Its a workout!
Great song. Very UFO like.
The "Guitar Riff" is used to open up most all Y&T shows, and usually leading into any song but Forever.
Y&T "I'll Cry For You".....amazing guitar work.
Yesterday and Today was / is an underrated Bay Area gem. Barroom Boogie is my personal fav.
Great choice! Next do STRAIGHT THROUGH THE HEART.
Since it's so cold, better pick would have been "Summertime Girls"
True, I think they've already done that. Y&T were me and my friends Summertime band between high school and university! Then my neighbors at university were rockers through and through! Classic, Hard Rock, and Metal blared from them. This is one of those tracks. Tony, guitarist next door helped me meet Bon Jovi. We snuck into the coliseum and was busted during their soundcheck. They were very cool when we met them and didn't call the cops so we could attend their concert that night.
Another band from that era that did not get the recognition is
Shotgun Messiah. Heartbreak Blvd is my favorite. You'll love this band. Great Y&T reaction. Keep up the great reactions.
Mean Streak was by far their biggest hit.
Great album indeed. Game Playing Woman, is my favorite from their debut. Struck Down, is also real good. These are my favorite albums by them.
All right my babies.... I was privileged to see this band live in Detroit, and I wish I can see them again ‼️💯🔥😁👍🏻
They still tour
The Hands Of Time and This Time are great songs from these guys....
Mean Streak is an awesome song from them.
I saw Y&T open up for Heart in 1986, Y&T blew the roof of!
They used to play my town (cotati) all the time and you’re absolutely right. They never got enough recognition
Amazing guitarist great voice, yes definitely need some Ian Dury ( Hit me with your rhythm stick) 🎷 for Amber ❤️😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
This is one of my favorite songs of the 80s.
Funny you should mention Van Halen, they were an opening act for Y&T. Check out "Meanstreak".
WHITESNAKE - " Give Me All Your Love Tonight " ... the year was 1987 when this song plus many other ones hit the radio waves and became their best selling album, for it's Rock & Metal sound that to this day are still very popular.
Saw Y&T with Heart in 1985. Their popular song at the time was "Summertime Girls". Have that album on vinyl.
Hurricane. A fast and hard rocker.
Love this!!!
Saw then in 1985 in Nashville. They opened for Motley Crue. A great show.
They got plenty of cred back in the day; you see kids being there provides perspective I met Dave and three of his beauties at a winery in Napa CA 1996ish nice warm and extremely confident chap.
These guys only know how to kick ass.
I'm kind of guessing you meant April Wine instead of Blackfoot as the Canadian band. Both excellent though.
