Nolan put Batman in a situation where Batman had to use deadly force... like with tackling Two-Face to save a kid and Two-Face dies from the fall.

I hate Zack synder. Before him, DC was the king, sure mcu had movies but if we hadn’t made a movie since TDK trilogy for the next 6 yrs. that calm.
Also Batman is hope but a different kind of hope. A darker hope as he inhabits a place where hope is lost in Gotham for years yet himself is literally called ‘the Dark Knight’ for a reason. A knight is universally known as a man in shining armour like Superman but Bruce is a knight with dark yet light connotations. The only dark knight who can give Gotham LIGHT! In the midst of melancholy.
If Superman is the man of tomorrow with his optimism and hope for a better future and a model for us to be better versions of ourselves, then Batman is the man of today. A product of our environment. A man in the midst of change in the present - any means necessary to shift the future by the present. That’s why they are the world’s finest. Two men sharing the same vision but in a different matter. That’s why the JL is amazing different personalities and upbringings collide.
The fact that I still see people on this platform supporting Snyder and his "vision" is appalling to me. I love Man of Steel but i hated his vision for the DCEU. Justice League: War is much better than Justice League (2017).

Im not outright defending Zack Snyder, its result of Elseworld deconstruction stories unfortunately becoming standard (which defeats the whole point applying it in the first place) for Batman in mordern comics including the main Earth books bleeding over into other adaptations its had irreversible damage.
Stories such as Batman Dark Knight Returns despite being a great written story were aimed older audience's and was an elseworld story for a reason. Yes it opened doors to tackle and address crime-frightening in sociopolitical context and issues that arise. Watchmen as well.
But writers then asssumed this was the only way comics would sell or being mature resulting in being immature due to the constant shock value.
Batman constantly comes to blows with Superman and being distrustful of him to point of paranoia traced back to Frank Miller DKR.
Batman being a overly control freak and making contingency plans without informing Superman or heroes. Again traced back to Frank Millers.
Another stories such as Killing Joke and Kingdom Come also shouldn't have become standard either. They are Elseworld stories.
Readers and future writers read this thought this Batman so it became the standard and become repetitive. I get it killing rule is important but goes far beyond that now and small symptom of a bigger problem regarding DC heroes as whole.
This is partly why people have forgotten Batman and Superman were actually good friends before DKR.
Nothing wrong with deconstruction of troupes or genre but they too have flaws. Reconstruction also needed. Its paramount Silver Age and especially Bronze Age should be respected and read to a degree to understand that despite heroes having issues and problems they encounter ultimately still remain paragon of idealism, hope and courage.
Theres plenty of blame of to pass around how we have reached these point with this characters.

Zack exposed himself and I’m glad he did. He really said he wanted to go against what Batman stands for just because it’s something people say there’s a line he should never cross and he wanted to put Batman in situations where it was impossible for him to stick to his rules 🤦🏾♂️. It’s even funny because when you watch BvS there’s literally not one situation which requires Batman to do the 1 thing he would never do. Every situation Batman was in could’ve easily been solved without killing. In his movie he has Batman killing regular human mercenaries just because they had something he wanted lol. People gotta realise too that the problem with Batman killing in these movies as well is that you question that why does Snyder only make Batman kill these none threatening henchmen and then let villains like Joker and Harley live. It’s dumb inconsistencies you bring on your film by not sticking to the source material of how the characters are

Zack Snyder misses the point of his own examples. He specifically said that what made Captain Kirk interesting is that he found a way to change a no-win situation, but then says I want Batman to be in a Kobayashi Maru test that he can't hack... that's just lame, bro. That's as much of a cop-out as having a villain die because a random chunk of debris fell on his head, how can an storyteller not understand it?
Trekkie here …so if we’re using the kobayashi maru analogy…a no-win scenario…and based on Kirk’s action (hackin it so he CAN win bc “I don’t believe in no-win scenarios…I don’t like to lose”…) wouldn’t that mean Batman would find a way to neutralize the threat without killing? The no-win scenario would be one where he “has no choice” but to kill…so for him to hack that scenario…he would figure out a way to win and not kill. His logic is terrible . Putting Batman in a no win scenario is extremely easy lol he’s a fuckin super hero he’s always gonna find himself in a no win scenario, the difficult part is figuring out HOW to win in a no win scenario.

From the very start he said it was an elseworld movie. And what’s wrong with deconstructing characters and putting them in a position where Batman kills. Even though he’s already killed in comics. The problem with Zack is that he's trying to make these superheroes realistic. These superheroes are ideals, larger than life. They are what people should try to strive to be but will always short of. With superman you should always try to be good, with Batman, you try to abid by a moral code even though people worse than you can gain the upper hand.

It's hard to escape how beautiful those films are though. Make MCU movies look like afternoon sitcoms (no hate I love the Infinity Saga). If only someone else wrote the scripts lol. To this day Man of Steel is the best looking comic book movie I've ever seen and it's now 11 years old.

Ugh I’m so happy to move on from Snyder. He’s frustrating. Him being a kind guy is irrelevant… he’s the one that truly damaged DC. Casting mid actors that couldn’t hold up.- yes, love Man Of Steel and like directors cut of BVS, JL. But it’s nothing but elseworlds at this point for me. James Gunn is the ACTUAL GENUINE DC fan, and people should be happy about that!
I feel pretty much the exact same way. I liked his stuff, but he was never the right guy, especially for a main-line cinematic universe. And even with elseworlds, we've seen people like Reeves and Phillips do it WAY better. Gunn is a DC fanatic and I absolutely trust his storytelling capabilities.

I totally agree with you guys, I covered a bit of this interview on my channel as well. Zack seems like a cool guy, but he just does not get these characters. Sure he can like a Batman who kills, he can have his preferences, but when it comes time to building a movie universe like the DCEU, you gotta put those preferences aside and do right by the character.
Batman does not kill! That’s his number 1 rule! You can’t start a universe with an elseworlds Batman! You gotta do right by the character and then maybe in some multiverse off-brand story you can do a Batman who kills.
This is what worries be about James Gunn as well. Superman’s logo is an elseworlds logo. The Kingdom Come logo is THE Superman logo of the DCU, which means, the OG logo is now the off-brand elseworlds logo smh

It was firmly established in MoS that this was a elseworld universe. If you do not like his DCEU for the legit comic book accurate choices Zack made; then cool. But do not claim to be a comic book fan and say Zack had no clue; because if you are a comic book fan you know the exact comics that he pulled from. I understand Zack getting to release his cut of the Justice League because he had to leave during very late development due the passing of his daughter, and Warner Bros made a lot changes to the movie before release, so I think very rarely it's ok for studios to release Director Cuts of movies. When I heard this interview, there was one thing that came to mind, Zach Snyder does not like Kevin Conroy's Batman but only Frank Miller's Batman. He thinks the no kill rule is boring. Kevin Conroy's Batman is who got me into the character, and for him to have a no kill rule I think it makes the character more interesting. So I really didn't dig Ben Affleck's Batman until I saw him in David Ayers Suiside Squad and Zach Snyder's Justice League. For Me, Christian Bale is the definitive live action Batman. I even have his suit.

Not shocked at all. He never understood the characters. Example how do you have PA Kent die from torando. While his son is couple feet away from him. The whole point of Pa kent death (heart attack) was to show that this was out of clark control and he couldn’t save him. Zack Snyder made realize that most comic book fans idea of ''comic accuracy'' is boiled down to surface level references, as long as the suits look like the comics and recreate panels, disregarding the context, then it's going to be more than enough for them. even if the director completely missed the point of those scenes, like watchmen or batman killing

First off you referenced Zack Snyder using a scene in The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel (an elseworld story) to backup his argument, yet YOU used a moment in All Star Superman to backup YOUR argument. You are aware that All Star Superman isn't canon either and is an elseworld story as well, right? Don't think you know that. Next, DC themselves literally tells all of us in Batman's CANON stories that he is NOT a hero. He's even admitted this HIMSELF. He's purposely saved the lives of his rogues gallery multiple times and it's still a constant cat and mouse game. And these are guys that have raped women and CHILDREN, killed thousands of people, and yet Batman STILL keeps them alive. He is not a hero and he's ADMITTED IT. A young alien immigrant with godlike power reminding an old, battle hardened and damaged man what it means to be a hero. And as a fan that has been reading DC for more than 9 years, I can confidentially say that his take on Batman is one of the best ever. When you have KEVIN CONROY of all people praising Zack Snyder and calling Ben Affleck his favorite live action Batman, that means something. It's not just Conroy that heavily praises Snyder. Patty Jenkin’s take on Wonder Woman literally r@ped a man (and acknowledged it). She then felt conflicted and struggled to let him live his life by freeing him from Steve Trevor’s spirit and acted as if she made a great sacrifice by doing so. There’s more issues but not even Wonder Woman was spared from being butchered

Let's be real here DCAU is better than both. Animation is superior to live action. DCAU Batman will always be the definitive adaptation of the character. No live action version comes close to that version.
