I love that you're using some of the less insanely used pokemon here. Reg E is probably going to be my first competitive format ever and you've helped me learn so much! Appreciate you!
Okidogi is my kind of Pokemon! A slow-burn tower Pokemon that keeps pressure on the opponent. Wasn't looking at him for my second VGC team, but my eyes are definitely open to him now. BIG FAN.
I do think this is an underrated Pokemon, Guard Dog is a pretty neat ability and allows Okidogi to hit the Landorus partners even harder after a Bulk Up. Okidogi would be better when Incineroar becomes the dominant intimidate pokemon since his drain punches hit Incineroar for super effective
Dual screens Grim, Assault Vest H-Acranine and some kind of set-up mon is such an archetype - especially, it seems, in Japan! In fact this Grim and Arcanine remind me a lot of the Spectrier team that Aaron used in his exhibition match with Ray Rizzo
qotd: honestly i was surprised the loyal three arent gonna be meta staples like previous trios but maybe thats a blessing. they have cool and charming designs too!
Tuned in while I work ..can't wait to train my Dogi when I get home I'm getting ideas fosure thanks for the showcase Aaron mad respect from Houston ❤👌🏾💯
Hi Aaron, thanks for always bringing the daily heat! You’ve helped so many of us with your content. Now that showdown has a VGC best of 3 mode, I’m curious if you’ll do some content that way in the future. It would be so great to see how you strategize for best of threes!! Thank you for all you do for this community don’t stop!!!
Man you are one of the fiew that shiw the stats of the team most say it's only for Patreon or something that's why i always thank you from the bottom of my heart
Okidogi can use Adrenaline Orb to also get a +1 speed when intimidated if you don’t wanna commit to a choice scarf or want another mon on your team to have Choice Scarf
@@rileyackison4495 Knock off is 65 base damage, times 1.5 if an item is knocked off. Drain punch is 75, times 1.5 from stab, so it's always stronger when both are neutral.
i recently tried a dipplin sun team with stuff like ninetales willowisp and lilligant sleep powder you should try out dipplin it actually isn’t too bad
I agree, I think all of the Loyal Three have a place in VGC. It's easy for people to discount them, but they can all body you if you take them for granted. Munkidori is the most interesting to me, even though it's considered the worst one.
@guccimane9010 I was thinking specs, too. Base 130 specs+stab(+tera?) boosted posion-type moves into a format dominated by a grass-type seems pretty good to me
@@Mettie7 exactly, ogrepon does not appreciate stab poison at all lol... And you can pair it next to good steel mons like heatran and goldengho so they don't get hit by the sludge wave
QOTD - I feel like they're all usable, but none of them are going to be metagame staples. Okidogi seems like the best one in my mind, and I'm sure you could find success with all 3, but I find it hard to justify using them over other meta picks
QOTD: Munkidori is kinda meh imo, seen a lot of people try and liking Okidogi, but... I really think Fezandipity is very underrated right now. Poison/Fairy is a very good typing, it also has great overall bulk and outspeeds a lot of important things like Urshifu. Also, it's the best user of Toxic Chain with its multiple good spread moves like Dazzling Gleam and Icy Wind. Add things like Tailwind/Taunt/Charm/Acid Spray/Roost to that and you've got a fast, bulky support that's also kinda an offensive threat, coz every turn you ignore this bird, is another turn you're rolling the dice on your Pokémon getting badly poisoned by it. Been loving this bird on my slower paced defensive team ^_^ Not related to the QOTD but, a special shout-out to Sinistcha. It's being used a lot more than Fezandipity, but still a very underrated Pokémon imo.
NGL Fezendipiti is a pretty underrated support mon with Tailwind and Icy Wind for speed control and Taunt to stop Trick Room and Spore. The toxic chance with Toxic Chain is cool too.
One thing I've been wondering recently is whether Grimmsnarl was actually slept on earlier in SV or whether the offensive powercreep of the last two rulesets *is responsible for it being played a lot more now?
Early for another Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng video where he climbs the online regulation E VGC ladder in pokemon Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes!
I absolutely despise Urshifu. That 3rd game sums up why. Such an Overloaded mess of a Pokemon. Good Stats especially offensively, Reliable Typing that hits a lot of things Neutrally, Amazing Ability that counters the Most common move in VGC, Guaranteed Crits to get through Intimidates and Defensive stat Boosts AND Priority Moves on top of in the form of STAB Aqua Jet. Basically forces any team to have an Answer to it or get Swept 1v4 by it.
QOTD: I'm not a believer in the loyal 3. Their stats aren't up to snuff and they are just outclassed by a lot of other Pokemon in the format. Really wish they had 600bst because that might have made them compelling. It would have been nice to have better poison types to threaten flutter
Couple of urshifu/ogerpon calcs: 252 Atk Mystic Water Tera-Water Urshifu-Rapid Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 132 Def Ogerpon-Hearthflame on a critical hit: 156-186 (83.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ Atk Mystic Water Tera-Water Urshifu-Rapid Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 228 Def Ogerpon-Hearthflame on a critical hit: 156-186 (83.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ Atk Tera-Water Urshifu-Rapid Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Ogerpon-Hearthflame on a critical hit: 156-186 (83.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252 Atk Tera-Water Urshifu-Rapid Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 108 HP / 60 Def Ogerpon-Hearthflame on a critical hit: 138-168 (81.6 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO top 2 are mystic water, bottom 2 are not. these were the simplest calcs I could find to guaranteed live surging strikes as ogerpon-hearthflame. It's just a bad matchup, it seems.
So Okidogi and Annihilape seem very similar to me. (Bulk up, drain punch, leftovers, aka physical sweeper with staying power) The big difference is poison vs ghost typing and their abilities... With all the other anti-intmidate out there (King Gambit, the penguin who's name I'm forgetting) I feel like Annihilape is still the king? Is there an opportunity for Okidogi to de-throne Annihilape? I don't know their base stats or the current format meta. Edit: I take it back. Shutting down intimidate is huge.
They maybe similar but annhilape is still better maybe not in this format against Flutter mane, but in general annhilape has better typing, overall bulk ,speed and even ability as well, guard dog gives you +1 atk to only intimidate while defiant gives you for any stat drop and annhilape has rage fist its broken signature move only niche I find for okidogi over annhilape is toxic chain and better attack stat
I haven't played much ladder yet, but the one time I ran into an Okidogi, it was with the other Loyal Three and Ogerpon. It was also, I am convinced, not EV trained at all and just some poor kid having fun playing online, getting six-oh'd by my very much EV trained chien pao and ogerpon.
I think Munkidori is not being explored enough honestly, just because it's outperformed by something like Flutter Mane. Having a fast fake out user that can very much threaten damage with 130 base SpA is interesting since you can then focus a lot more on bulk and being able to also use parting shot to double up on intimidating something like an Ogerpon. Something like Psychic/Fake Out/Parting Shot/Sludge Bomb, Taunt or Protect if you go bulky or Psychic/Fake Out/Parting Shot/Protect or something like Acid Spray if you go for speed and damage with a focus sash instead. Or if you want to be real menace, find a steel mon or tera steel something next to Munkidori and start slamming out sludge wave to poison/toxic and have venoshock ready. Maybe even something incredibly room temperature IQ like Tera Steel Kommo-o using clang scales next to a Munkidori holding a mirror herb for something so incredibly dumb, but very funny when it works out.
I don't know if it's the Okidogi that's underrated but rather how much support you invested in to making it shine. Dual screens Grimm + Hisuian Arcanine can get just about any Pokemon rolling especially if the Pokemon being set up has sustain (Okidogi with Drain Punch for example). I believe you used both in the Nasty Plot Spectrier showcase and it also was very good. So just my personal opinion Okidogi isn't anything special, it's ability and sustain make it fairly decent with the amount of support you invested in to it. I think this team is extremely weak to Water Tera Amoongus and Choice Scarf Urshifu which as you stated in the video are very common. Great video but yeah those are just my thoughts on the team.
QOTD: First of all I am joining Carmine in calling them the Lousy Three cause they're mean bullies!! I don't think much of Okidogi and Munkidori, I'm sure they're fine but they don't speak to me so much. Fezandipiti I'm playing with, I like its design way more and I think the way it works with bulk and Toxic Chain spread moves is cool.
Not really. Hand has no where near the coverage that Dogi does - Dogi is far faster, can take Dazzling Gleam and can threaten Flutter without Heavy Slam and doesn't need Booster Energy to compensate for Intimidate Leads. Overall, a very different Mon.

Okidogi is my favorite of the new trio from design alone, so im REALLY glad its a great pokemon in an archetype i love using.
It’s funny how dragon is suddenly a good Tera type
Does Guard Dog stack with Adrenaline Orb? Both an attack and speed boost would be pretty nice

I can't believe 4/6 Pokemon have Atk/SpA stats of 176. I'd almost think that was on purpose, but I have no idea why
Why grimm instead of clefairy?
I think water ogerpon helps this team better
