  • I get sooooo many questions on how to build a custom sight tape. After years of being frustrated with the tapes the manufacturers provide, I started making my own. Here’s how I do it.

    Remember to set your printer to print actual size.
    If the printer is set to 'fit to page' the tape may not be to scale.

    Great video as always. But one correction, Archers Advantage specifies arrow length as shaft only. Not from end of shaft to the nock throat. They also explain every detail in the help section.

    I was just doing this today. I had to mess around with the numbers on the sight in. I don’t have a chronograph so I used calipers to measure the distance between the 20 and 60 marks. From there I adjusted the numbers until the printed tape matched my marks. After watching this video I clearly did it the wrong way. Thank you for this tutorial!

    I have found that using a digital caliper for peep height has led to much less monkeying around with the program for short marks/long marks being off. Again as precise as possible. Appreciate the video.

    This was very helpful. I have a CBE Tactic Hybrid and came up with my own method for creating my site tape but this was great as it is more accurate. My process has worked very well as it is as precise as my steadiness at 74 years old. I really liked the idea of using shipping tape to waterproof the tape. Thanks!!

    Thank you. When using a tape measure generally the metal hook end of the tape moves in and out as to ensure accurate measurements when hooking and pulling tape or when butting up against objects. Butting the hook aginst pin and measuring to peep will give most accurate reading.

    Very good stuff! My last 2 arrow builds have had a sight tape 4-5ft faster than actual speed because I believe that 13-16%foc momentum carries nicely.. was never an issue with a 3pin w/ single indicator at 40 (rarely dialed 40 up)! Now with the dual indicator at 30-50, I've been going back and forth on 2 BlackGold tapes when it comes to dialing up!
    Should all be fine, especially now with this video! My mind is still pretty blown at how little I have had to move the 30/40/50 pins since you got my new BlackGold on.. the old sight was zeroed to much heavier arrows so I don't think that was your trick haha

    The most accurate sight tapes I've gotten right off the bat are with a new program called Precision Cut Archery.
    Just enter arrow weight, peep to pin, peep to arrow and three sight marks. You can also print up sight marks for different elevations.

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah if you have marks to use that’s definitely the most accurate. But black gold sights, most spot hogg sights and others don’t have marks so you this was how to do it with out using marks! Thanks for watching man! Happy hunting

      @InsideOutPrecision so if you check out that program, you can use a caliper for those measurements. You still use 3 measurements. They're spot on. Just like everything else, the more exact, the better the results.

    Thanks for the video
    I have archers advantage on my laptop used it to make a sight tape for my TRIAX with BlackGold pro sight so far so good dead on out to 60 yards
    Haven’t had an opportunity to shoot beyond that here in SE Massachusetts yet so 🤷🏼‍♂️ not sure beyond 60 yards lol

    I bought a stack of blank label paper. I print a set of tapes on regular paper to check if the sizing is correct (sometimes I'm off by half a mm or so) before I print on the label paper. Then I use a cheap paper cutter and peel off my fancy sticker sight tape.

  • @stevie9361

    !!!!!!!! To adjust the short/long yardages you need to adjust peep slightly!!!!!!!!!!

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  8 месяцев назад

      Mmm you never want to move your peep once it’s set. That will throw off your whole sight. If your peep appears to be high when your sight is buried as low as you can shoot it. Just open your mouth when you anchor and it will center up again.

    If you fudge the numbers in the sight in process to meet your measured chronometer speed you won't get an accurate sight tape. You need to sight the bow in at your short distance and your long distance and measure the distance apart those two marks are on you sight and let the software generate your speed which will probably be considerably slower than your actual speed.

    I'd be REALLY curious as to how you use this to print a sight tape for the Fast Eddie (and not have to totally fudge a ton of numbers to get the tape to work). You mentioned that you can do it, and all of my communications with Perry essentially confirmed that I could not print a Sight Tape for the Fast Eddie. So IF you have figured it out, I'd love to know. Thx - Phil

    • @InsideOutPrecision

      no I mention in the video that all you have to do is select Fast Eddie from the sight list. Every other step is exactly the same…

      @@InsideOutPrecision Thanks. At the risk of being repeatative, I want to make sure I understand. I have inputed all the variables (with the sight on inch). Use the vertical to get the distance for the "sight in" vice my Caldwell Chrono (I did 20/80) with 20/0 and 80/1.15", which gave me a 261fps (Nexus 2, 70#, 28.5 DL, shooting 522g arrow). Then all I do is change sight to Fast Eddie, and print? Then I can apply that tape to my wheel?

      @@jeffrylotz9114nd all the "how to" or coaching videos in the world over all time will never change that.. its just too easy to blame the gear or someone else than to admit your own mistakes or limitations for a great many people. I've found those that blame themselves ahead of the equipment or the pro shop that set up their gear and stick it out for the long haul are more often the ones on the podium at the end of the day..

    Hi, my name is Rod, and I'm from Australia. I recently purchased a high-end target bow upon set up I found the actual draw length to be 3/4 of an inch shorter than the cam setting is this normal or do I need to do cable and string length adjustments to get them to match? I guess I'm really only concerned because if I want to sell it in the further I can't sell to anyone with a 30 inch plus draw because I'm at 30 to get 29 1/4. Thanks for any advice cheers

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  Год назад

      If you have pre-determined marks like I explain in the video then the program calculates your speed based on those marks. But in this case there are no pre determined marks so you have to rely on the speed the chronograph gives you
