Being from Austria rather than Australia it's not easy for me to guess the most demanding track in Australia, but from what I've seen on your videos the Old Telegraph track is top of my list.
I drive a Pinzgauer 712 6x6. It has a clearance of 37 cm underneath the diff, so I guess I can do without a lift :-)
Cheers lads, and keep on doing these great videos !

    2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
We took it 4wding about 2 months ago completely stock and the factory bash plate is bent in exactly like the one you guys showed in the video, we luckily got a way with no drivetrain damage but we don’t have the money to replace them and when we do we will most likely end up bashing them again, we would love a set of underbody protection so the next time we go out we don’t have to worry about potentially going home on the back off a tow truck, cheers Graham and Shauno.

Around 6 months ago my dad and I were driving north up to Rockhampton and didn't have a uhf. We came over a hill and a western star with a 6 meter wide cat d10 bulldozer on the back was coming right at us! (if we had a uhf we would have been well prepared). Would love to win that awesome uniden uhf, it looks so good!
Loving the new videos by the way!

Really needed a winch when at age 12, I got my best mate’s dad’s 4x4 stuck in what I thought was a creek and turned out to be a 5ft deep bog hole hahaha. Didn’t have any vehicles on the farm to recover so we had to wait a few hours for another mates truck to pull her out. Plenty of winch worthy trees around that hole

I have a 2019 Holden Colorado. And one time I was out at the Riverstone tracks and there was a bunch of people in their underpants running towards us covered in mud and there said they where stuck. And somehow they got a brand new 4x2 Toyota hilux stuck head first into a bog hole. And we had no winch so we got a ratchet strap and hooked to the rear tow bar and tried to pull them out but no luck. And that’s why we needed a winch.😂

I am very keen to do some mods to my Isuzu D-max but do not know where exactly or how to start, and the considerations to make without unknowingly 'harming' my D-max in the long run. And this video answers my questions. Wonderful, beneficial video for 4WD enthusiasts!

Front locker is superior as demonstrated in the new video (DMW made it with you guys).
Lockers are for restoring a loss of traction.
IFS loses traction more than live axles and the rear of the vehicle by design has more traction going over obstacles.
Best option is to get both.

    Great suggestions that make sense.
My trick is to apply trail mods with vehicles in the full-size class like the Ford Super-Duty F250 or F350 (new or used), especially the older diesel models prior to emissions on them which plugged their power outputs up. Although the durable big petrol V8 engine or older V10 made for good off-road torque with hauling grace, too. Being over 6 feet tall,I like my full-size trucks better over smaller double-cab rigs due to leg room constraints, as well as headroom.

Afternoon, The time I wish I had a winch would have to be when myself and two of my mates went for a 4wdin a stock rodeo around my family farm near glasshouse, the sun was going down and when were just heading out. to cut a long story short we were driving up a track when we slid of the side of the hill siding into two big trees. one tree was on the rear diver door and the other was behind the tray. this cased us to not be able to go forward and not be able to go back we were stuck. We had to walk out of the track and down to the farmer from Maleny Black Angus who had a winch fitted to his car. we drove down and hook up a snatch block and pull the ute sideways off the trees.
After the mammoth of a weekend we vote never to go 4wding without a winch

Nice video, I just realised it's quite a few years ago now this video was made.. Most corrugated track I've ever been on was the border track Victoria South Australia. So straight but bumpy. Never ending. And UHF, camping with mates years ago, on the backwaters of the Murray River. 9pm my mate and I went searching for wood down a few dirt tracks. But could not find the campsite on our return. Took us till 1am. Funny thing our new car has no USB radio. It costs so much now, to build up a brand new 4wd. My wife keeps going off about what it all costs. Lift, front bar, all terrain tires, rims, suspension improvements. Even recovery points never ending. It's our first brand new car, and when we eventually get a UHF, I want it professionally done. No wires, radio under the dash etc. receiver on a magnetic hook that plugs in when you want it and put away when not in use. You know another funny thing. This car doesn't even have a CD player. It's good for Spotify if you have Wi-Fi range. Haha.

Going up the James Price Point road north of Broome early in the season, got through a couple of big waterholes across the road, third time was unlucky, went in and bellied the Colorado in some deep ruts, spent 2 hours trying to dig it out, water pouring into the ute. Finally someone came along and dragged me out, a winch would have had me out in minutes. I'll need one for my new Cannon ute.

I personally think the best place to pull up for a beer would be a nice afternoon sunset at glasshouse after tackling all of the intermediate type tracks. After a few hiccups with all the lads getting stuck, snapping bits and pieces or even a punctured tire. There’s just something spectacular about cracking open a cold one with the 4pm sun glistening off glassies gorilla rock.

Onya Graham. My winch story is from Mcbrides Beach, NSW in 2018, solo trip. Bit off more than I could chew. Got stuck less than halfway up on a small angle and thought it was all over. Front locker didn't engage so ended up having to back down 50 metres and park up along the side of the track (in gear of course). Then started the long arduous walk up to the top to get someone to come and rescue me. To make the whole situation worse, id lost my phone fishing a few hours before :O. Taught me a real lesson .

Just bought my first 4WD, a Nissan Navara D40 series 6. Bash plates are one of the first mods I want to get as I took my dad's car out to the Flinders in SA and bottomed out a few times. Did no damage, thank god, but knowing that its something I'm a bit clumsy with, definitely going to protect my own cars undercarage!!

Re the Fulcrum lift kit, last November had Fulcrum replace the springs, shocks and bushes on my 2003 Nissan Patrol and couldn't be happier as this car took me over the Telegraph Road to the tip of Cape York and if there is a more corrugated road I haven't been on it.
But now I have just purchased a brand new Ford Ranger (2 days ago) and am about to go through the setup procedure.
Already ordered the Bull Bar, Winch, UHF Radio, Snorkel and a Canopy to replace the tub. Next is the LIft Kit and power in the canopy.
So a Fulcrum Lift Kit from Fulcrum would be fantastic.
PS: So are many great tips in this video that I saved it.

We dragged a 84 viscount onto the 14 mile beach at Warroora station with a 2wd Colorado. MET The best neighbours there and stayed two weeks. Great fishing, clear water and west coast sunsets... missed the wind too.

2013 RG Colorado...I got stuck on ‘Bob’s Track’ in Margaret River during winter. With many solid Karri trees around that area, I would have benefited enormously from a winch. I had to walk nearly 2 hours to Caves Road and hitch a ride into Margaret River to get the Colorado sorted 😎😎

G'day Graham! Bought a 2019 MR Triton this year. The most corrugated road I've ever been on is The Gibb River Road in WA.
I've moved to Cairns recently and am planning on doing the Cape TWICE next year, so I don't think the factory suspension would go too well. Awesome video, loving the channel!

I wish I had a winch when I ran into some deep mud when going to church with my mom on her 2014 ford ranger wildtrak. I really like the videos and the kits for 4 wheel driving. The lift isnt as much of a big deal like the other mods. Thanks mates.

So much sage advice here Graham.
Love your canopy and would like to see one this good on my Triton (one day). I've certainly got some ideas from this video on a few worthwhile tweaks to my current setup. One thing I really hope subscribers take keen notice of is Grahams advice about where to put weight. Everything heavy in my ute is over or forward of the rear axle. With the exception of a 30 litre water tank in the back right corner. It might not seem like much, but it's too much weight in the wrong spot and does affect stability. It needs to be moved, at least to the centre line of the vehicle.

Graham Ive got a 2015 Dmax single cab inspired by you of course. Me and my mate were four wheeling out at glassy we came across a big bog hole just at the end of the track we were finishing, with out hesitating I didn't check the depth or what was in it and paid the ultimate price of hitting a rock that some one had rolled into the hole as a joke this punched a big nasty hole straight through the sump resulting us waiting for a tow tuck and lots of oil missing. this wouldn't of happened if I had a good quality bash plate like in this video. Cheers fellers love the content keep it up.

The worst track I have done in my 2005 Holden rodeo was the Cardabia-Ningaloo road!! 50km long track that takes you from the Minilya-Exmouth road to the stunning ningaloo coast line!! This took its toll on both car and boat, with canopy, bulbar, spotties rattling loose, boat and trailer moving all over the place!! This has to be the roughest 2 hours on corrugation yet so this lift Kit would go a long way!! Cheers Graham

    Q: 4wd I own + why I need a set of bash plates?
A: Gen 4 Mitsi Pajero SWB, this channel kick-started my interest in Touring and last week I sold my previous pride and joy (Subaru Forester STI) to replace it with something that could get me a little further off the beaten track. I have some bar work and a snorkel in the pipeline but the old girl could do with a little more body protection while it waits for funding for a lift!

Corrugated road - Ernest Giles up in the NT for sure. - closely followed by our driveway😂
Bash plates - Sadly did a radiator somehow when i got a rock jammed up and broke the bottom. Bash plates are at the top of my list now for a mod.

When did I wish I had a winch?
When I got my HJ61 LandCruiser I got it roadworthy and got rego at 5pm, by 6pm I was bogged in a surprisingly deep bog hole. I had to wait hours for a mate to come and pull me out. After that incident I bought a cheap winch that I never managed to trust. I've almost finished restoring the 60 now after 2.5 years, it'd be fitting to put a nice winch on it this time round incase history repeats itself!

I got stuck in my old LN107 (without a winch) on my own bloody driveway after a big rain. Went to go around the corrugations to save myself from being covered in coffee and ended up dropping the left wheels off the shoulder and instantly ended up on the rear axle and front lower control arm. Lol. In the moment I lost my coffee out of the holder and it ended up through my air vents. Everything smelt like coffee for months. 😂

When I was living in Sawmill Settlement below Mt Buller I decided to check the old track that ran alongside the Delatite River above Merrimbah in my 94 80 Series on a solo mission. Half way across the first crossing I got hung up on a river rock and couldn't move forwards or backwards. With no phone coverage and none of my mates listening to their CB's my only option was to walk 5km back to a mates place and beg for a tow out. That was the time I really wished I had a winch ;-)... Oh and in the process I managed to drop my prescription glasses in the river so had no specs for a few weeks... total Kook move ;-)

I was on a trip with mates out bush NSW. We were in a convoy of 3, me being the last. We had four cases of beer on the back of my mates tray who was driving in the middle. I saw his tie downs coming loose then watched one case fall off followed by the other 3 over a period or 2 or 3 minutes. There was no mobile coverage and I couldnt call him because I didnt have a UHF in my car. A UHF would have come in handy then lol I eventually got him to stop with the horn but the damage was done.

I remember dads spotties came off and our mate lost a few things from the rattling too! Bloody beautiful once you get to steep point though!!

Man, I could do with a winch! 4 weeks ago after I put a Fulcrum 2 inch lift into my 2016 Hilux (yes I watched your DIY Video) I thought I was Mr. Invincible so I set out to do Hayden St, Mount Rascle QLD at about 5 pm... Long story short I got stuck on a rock step and after an hour of rearranging rocks to make a ramp, filling the cab with dust, tearing chunks out of all for wheels I had to humbly call up a mate to pull me out in dark looking pretty red-faced!!
