Except for the map i'm not really finding The collector's edition interesting, why don't they put a f.. katana in it?? That would be awesome, like I would spend 500 bucks for something like that.
It's very admirable that they continue to try new things with the combat. Looks like it will be very fun. I do hope we eventually get another Tenchu game though. Tenchu Z was the ultimate ninja stealth game.

One of my favorite ways to kill in DS3 was to use the Knight Slayer Ring and kicks to shield break and riposte. Sekiro is essentially a fleshed out version of that exact same play style and I love it.
Can we praise the advances of the engine for a second? I feel they didn't change it much from BB to DS3, but Sekiro is a great step ahead considering they all have to run on the same hardware. On an artistic choice, I'm glad Sekiro is clearly more colourful than the last two games. PS: For the incoming idiots: Engine =/= Gameplay.
This is great news for me. In DS, parrying was such a simple mechanic but so satisfying to pull off, however, I often avoided doing it a lot because the riposte animation added too much down time and also parrying becomes very easy after you've put in a few hundred hours into every SoulsBorne game. So this is perfect, I'll get to constantly be trying to get the perfect timing for deflections and not have the game "stop" as a result. This is the best evolution for Souls type combat I can think of. And only 2 months to wait mother fuckers! It'll fly by, just think it was like 7 months ago since we saw the first full trailer back in June and that has flown by.
Though this is not a new Tenchu, I hope it's in From Software's future plans to develop a new one. It's my favourite game series. But I can't wait to play Sekiro for two reasons: it's oriental theme and because it's From Software's
I knew it was inspired by tenchu from the first bits of gameplay. The hype mainly comes from souls community who licks From’s balls thinking this is completely new
Amen I did too from the first gameplay footage I love the tenchu series I wish they make a new one some day we need a good ninja game aside from ninja gaiden
The combat looks fantastic. I didn't even realized how much until now. Here we have players being more comfortable with the combat system and being skilled at deflecting and using the tactical movements the game has to offer and it makes a huge difference.
It's just like when a band makes a new album. If it's too similar, it catches flack. If it's too different, it catches flack. I'm preparing myself to have zero expectations going in to Sekiro, trying to reaffirm to myself that it's ALWAYS best if the developer/band/director/author is making what they want to make; not what the fans/publishers/etc. want.
The deflect sounds great sort of like how deflect works in for honor, with a super precise timing to punish the enemy but if missed you get punished hard.
Most anticipated game of the year for me by far. I can see this is going to be even harder than DS and BB. The parrying in those games was mostly optional but with this, if you don't get the deflection system down, you aren't going to get anywhere.
The parry in Sekiro is more like a perfect guard, though. If you miss by a bit, you won’t take immediate damage like in Souls, but your posture will suffer a bit. It reminds me of fighting Manus and having to block each hit at the right time and releasing so that your stamina can charge back up enough between his attacks.
Here's a fun test: press the pause button on the video player every time you think the player needs to parry. If the video stops the moment that either a bright orange flash appears or the player appears to have been hit, you probably timed it correctly. Parrying in Souls was more like swinging your shield/firing your gun at just the moment an enemy's attack animation begun, but in Sekiro, the parry is actually more of a perfect guard, since I believe the "parry" button is the same as the "guard" button (L1?). In which case, the attack needs to be parried at the precise moment the attack lands, not prior. However, pressing the button slightly early should result in a regular guard, which blocks damage to HP while reducing posture. Parrying a single attack in Sekiro probably won't be so tough, but I imagine consistently parrying and trading attacks with the enemy will pose its own sort of challenge. Looks fun.
You unlock more death blows as you progress. Trailer 2 showed the Wolf using a similar death blow that the old woman uses here, as well as one that causes enemies to explode in a mist of blood.
Freaking loved this studio without even knowing they were the ones that made some of my most memorable PS2 games like Armored Core and Tenchu. Finally decided to hunker down and beat Dark Souls 3 a week ago and I've just killed the two princes. I'm super excited to see what they will do with Sekiro!!!
After playing this game, I can say for sure that it sets the bar high for combat playstyle for games. Sekiro is the best so far. Not for button smashers tho..lol..But seriously, the flow and sounds of swords clashing and parries are like divine strings to my ear as a gamer and sword lover.
Soulsborne games, while real popular in our circle, still caters to a pretty small niche when you think about how big gaming is these days. That being said, I do still think it’s quite underhyped.
I don't mind. Souls games are not for everyone, it needs a lot of time investment and a mind that appreciate creative thinging and art. So, I'm okay with everybody not hyping this up to an unnecessary level.
The combat in this game, once you undertand it, is the real draw. Everything else becomes a fantastic bonus of great lighting and gorgeous art direction.
I've only played bloodborne but I think it's better if they make a different IPs , I think it's a good idea for example this is basicly a samurai themed bloodborne right how about like a scifi themed bloodborne or a modern themed bloodborne that would be cool in my opinion
It is a different ip from bloodborne tho. Its completely new combat mechanics and aesthetic. Bloodborne is more Victorian/Lovecraft and Sekiro is more samurai and traditional Japanese architecture. I guess they use the same engine and the graphics look the same but that's about the only similarity I see.
Angry Bulldog Gaming This is extremely far away from Bloodborne though. The devs want players to be in the enemies face in Sekiro. While Bloodborne is more of a hit and run.
@@S2369100 Nobody knew what Bloodborne really was from any footage pre release. Expect the same from this game. The Miyazaki rabbit hole will be in full effect

@@steeleeldridge9345 The outfit is fine, but the protagonist just looks like a generic old ass Japanese samurai. They could have at least made him look different or something besides a prosthetic arm.
I like how the entire Fromsoftware team have said a million times that this is not a Souls like game and Fanboys still claiming and expecting this to be a Dark Souls/Bloodborne set in Japan..
Well, Sekiro is all about combat, it's a pure action game. Souls and Bloodborne are action rpg's with pvp and coop, they have to worry about pvp balance, coop balance, etc.
There are probably on average about five bosses in each Soulsborne game with combat that is truly engaging, and go figure most of them are locked in DLC. The grand majority of bosses are spellcasters, beefed up versions of standard enemies, or giant monsters with terrible aim (not to say bosses like Gwyndolin or Gaping Dragon aren’t interesting in their own ways). Sekiro is especially geared toward physical combat, which means bosses will probably feel more engaging throughout, unless the Witch of Hemwick has a triplet.
I always felt like dark souls was all about the bosses, like Midir and The Demon Prince are two of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life, but the rest of the game was pretty meh. Bloodborne was much better overall but I didn't play the DLC's so I probably missed the best boss fights. This game looks way better than both of them though.
Poise is still there, it just works like in DS3 where it’s inactive until you’re in attack animation. Of course, the only attacks so far that add poise/hyper armor are from the axe prosthetic, but there could be others later. You can’t increase your natural poise with armor, though, so it’s just a hidden stat in Sekiro.
@@hatskeleton635 Posture is nothing like poise. Poise prevents you from taking knockback from any attack that deals less damage than your fixed poise score (only active while your are attacking in DS3). Posture is a meter like stamina that is reduced when you block. When it runs out, you get stunned. If an enemy is stunned, you can perform an execution on them.
That's honestly my biggest fear. I fully trust Fromsoftware to deliver a quality game but with activision in the background there is definatly reason to worry.
I think it was miyazaki himself who said that Activision has no influence on the actual game, everything past the title screen is made by Fromsoftware alone. Activision is being used for funding and marketing only. If you don't wanna take my word for it you can find the quote online somewhere if you just google like "Activision Sekiro" or something similar.

When Bloodborne was still in the works, I was one of those boring fucks who complained “it’s just a Victorian Dark Souls, they can do better.” But after a year of it being out, I finally played it and it easily became my favorite in the series. Ain’t letting myself do that again lol.
Listen to what he says at 2:37, they MADE SURE that the attacks were intuitive and made sense in Sekiro. in ER, and especially SOTE, They did the exact opposite with overly delayed attack and infinite tracking + lingering unintuitive hitboxes to make the game artificially harder.

If fromsoft has set the bar why would they need to do it again it means they're already at the highest standard. If anyone has to set a new bar it's competitor's.
Batman Arkham didnt do shit. The combat is heavily based off of Spider-Man 2 on PS2 among other games in that generation.
And there is nothing wrong with that, i love Arkham series. Games can use other games as an influence. Some people hate that, i think its awrsome as long as its done right. Spiderman ps4 is a good example. The combat is pretty much Arkham but at the same time its different (and imo better) and fits the game perfectly!
@@pedroj3432 This. Spider-man 2 did the dodge mechanics way before the Arkham games came in and ruined it by turning it into a counter.
@@Lunk42 it didnt ruin it imo, but it makes little sense that batman could fight off 30 guys with just hand to hand combat. He cant even pull that off in comics...
So I really hope this game runs at 60fps on all consoles.
By what i've seen in the TGS gameplay on a ps4 it looked 30 fps
Well,i am sure it would be 60 on PC, soooooo.......;)
You don't need 60fps, original dark souls plays perfectly fine in 30. While I prefer 60 in the remaster, anyone that acts like they're better for being able to play in 60 is a retarded snowflake that doesn't realize their PC costs twice as much as a console.

So glad they paid a little homage to Tenchu because Tenchu is such a fantastic game. Since it seems like we will never get a Tenchu game Sekiro will be a close second of nostalgia and good times
Hopefully Tenchu will come back one day
I really hope since he said that it's not a Tenchu successor and that Sekiro is meant to be its own thing, that there is a good chance of them making a Tenchu sequel/reboot.
Sekiro looks cool, but I really want another Tenchu game.
Yeah i hope se
Hell yeah. I want a high quality tenchu game above any other from software title. I think with their gameplay innovations that a new tenchu will blow the doors off anything they've created so fare.
I would love to see Tenchu come back
This combat looks amazing. Very inspiring!
I've enjoyed Nioh so much that I'll most def be picking this one up.

Can’t wait to roam around and somehow find Patches... again
Don't forget the Moonlight greatsword.
パッチ
They said both of those will not be in Sekiro
Keep It Zen True, but we know From. They like surprising us.
what the hell is "patches"? What?
One of my favorite ways to kill in DS3 was to use the Knight Slayer Ring and kicks to shield break and riposte. Sekiro is essentially a fleshed out version of that exact same play style and I love it.
God I'm literally buying a new GPU only to play this game... Thank You From!
In the last two weeks, I've played bloodborne twice through and this is looking super amazing! The combat seems so fluid.
I knew this was inspired by tenchu! I frickin new it, the death blow animations look way too similar to not notice!
It started off as a tenchu game or a spiritual successor but they decided to change it
Though this is not a new Tenchu, I hope it's in From Software's future plans to develop a new one.
I hope that they bring back Tenchu one day
This is gonna be so fun I can’t wait to learn all the new mechanics
I'm gonna play this like I would play Tenchu
The combat looks fantastic. I didn't even realized how much until now. Here we have players being more comfortable with the combat system and being skilled at deflecting and using the tactical movements the game has to offer and it makes a huge difference.
It's just like when a band makes a new album. If it's too similar, it catches flack. If it's too different, it catches flack. I'm preparing myself to have zero expectations going in to Sekiro, trying to reaffirm to myself that it's ALWAYS best if the developer/band/director/author is making what they want to make; not what the fans/publishers/etc. want.
your one of the few who understand that.
This is one of my HYPED games of 2019
Can't wait any longer for March 22!!
Like you have a choice! 😂 😂 😂 👍🏾👍🏾
The deflect sounds great sort of like how deflect works in for honor, with a super precise timing to punish the enemy but if missed you get punished hard.
In Miyazaki we trust.
I just started bloodborne for the first time recently. After the initial frustration it becomes so fun.
3:15 GET BODIED SON
Dodging attacks reminds me of Tenchu so much, the playing style is the same way!
Wow who knew the lair of gaming gods looks like a call center office of cubicles. Whatever, just keep making gems!

Waifus die twice?
Looks fun.
They mentioned TENCHU?? So this is gonna be like another tenchu game.... PRE ORDERED....
It looks like a mix between Dark Souls and Tenchu
So far, only game I'm excited about
SUPER HYPE !!!
The combat mechanics look crazy good. Definitely keeping this game on my radar.
The "Death Blow" looks far more cooler in Tenchu ( and more cinematic ). But then again Tenchu was more stealth rather than open combat
In Sekiro looks more fluid tho
You unlock more death blows as you progress. Trailer 2 showed the Wolf using a similar death blow that the old woman uses here, as well as one that causes enemies to explode in a mist of blood.
Freaking loved this studio without even knowing they were the ones that made some of my most memorable PS2 games like Armored Core and Tenchu. Finally decided to hunker down and beat Dark Souls 3 a week ago and I've just killed the two princes. I'm super excited to see what they will do with Sekiro!!!

As much as I want it to be a good game, it looks pretty bad. The environments look uninspired and the combat... well, let's just leave it that.
After playing this game, I can say for sure that it sets the bar high for combat playstyle for games. Sekiro is the best so far. Not for button smashers tho..lol..But seriously, the flow and sounds of swords clashing and parries are like divine strings to my ear as a gamer and sword lover.
This game is underhyped
Hubblebub Lumbubwub It's because people aren't big on the lack of customization. I'm not either but we'll just have to see what happens
@@aswinottapilavil495 I think the same. It's better like that. It feels more special to play and enjoy this games.
I love how cool the fight looks.
Praisu' tHe Sahnu"
The combat in this game, once you undertand it, is the real draw. Everything else becomes a fantastic bonus of great lighting and gorgeous art direction.
I've only played bloodborne but I think it's better if they make a different IPs , I think it's a good idea for example this is basicly a samurai themed bloodborne right how about like a scifi themed bloodborne or a modern themed bloodborne that would be cool in my opinion
True

I like how the entire Fromsoftware team have said a million times that this is not a Souls like game and Fanboys still claiming and expecting this to be a Dark Souls/Bloodborne set in Japan..
This game’s combat system makes Dark Souls‘s and Bloodborne’s mechanics look mediocre by comparison
The fact that the second boss (the “Butterfly Hag”) appears to be on par with Lady Maria and Sister Friede speaks volumes. Sekiro is gonna be intense.
Huge thank you to the translator
unlimited roll Dodge and no green bar
And no poise
They've already gone over why that doesn't matter any more. This isn't Dark Souls. You are required to not dodge in order to progress combat.
@@hartboxer1422 Poise has been completely replaced by posture.
Oh my god. I love it. Great video, I am suuuper hyped for it. :D
Please dont let activion Influence u guys with their greedy microtransactions. Since they are the one Publishing the game.
That's honestly my biggest fear. I fully trust Fromsoftware to deliver a quality game but with activision in the background there is definatly reason to worry.
The game will be self-published in Japan so I don't expect to see microtransactions.
Damn, I didn't realize that. I told myself that I would never buy anything associated with Activision again. Now I'm torn because I love Fromsoft :(
I think it was miyazaki himself who said that Activision has no influence on the actual game, everything past the title screen is made by Fromsoftware alone. Activision is being used for funding and marketing only.
Very refreshing to see the heads of one (if no the) best games studios talking so humbly about his work. The Todd Howards and the randy Randy Pitchfords of the world should take a good long look at themselves.
