Why are Canadians fed up with Justin?
    unlimited political correctness
    unlimited and profligate spending
    unlimited open borders
    unlimited favoritism to Quebec
    That's it for now.

Interesting the "unlimited favoritism to Quebec". Every Canadian government has had to respond to Quebec nationalistic fervor since "Le Maitre Chez Nous" in 1960 and "Vivre les Quebec Libre" in 1967. Since the Conservatives under Mulroney have been in power, Federal governments have tried to sooth Quebec sympathies and win Quebec votes while trying to rewrite the Quebec nationalist narrative. Since Quebec is a vote rich province and governments tend to be formed featuring strong Quebec electoral support, it is only natural that a government attempts to keep Quebec voters happy. That isn't favoritism. That is politics. In the same vein, the Conservatives under Poilievre can be accused of a similar unlimited favoritism towards Alberta and Saskatchewan. Much of their base of support can be found in Western alienation. But Charles. Is that any better? No. Just highlights the growing deep divisions that may at some point lead to Canada's failure as a confederation.

Endless favoritism to Quebec is right. And the only Canadians who think that is a good idea are from Ont and Que. I am in my 70s now, and have seen political patronage to Que my entire life They take, but what do they give?? Nada. Time for another referendum, but this time let ALL of us vote.

Unlimited Political correctness. He is always feuding with the public sector unions for not giving them what they want. Unlimited Profilgate spending? Canada has the lowest debt to gdp ratio in the G7. Unlimited Open Borders? Trudeau closed Roxham Road Illegal Border crossing and reduced the # of international students. Unlimited Favortism to Quebec rofl? Trudeau is always feuding with the Quebec Premier like today when he demanded the Bloc vote non-confidence in Trudeau and they refused because they have known Pierre Poilievre for 18 years and identify him as a fraudster who is duping Canadians & Quebecers more than Trudeau.😂😂

From Canada: I voted for the Liberals, but I am now very upset and can’t wait to see Trudeau gone for good. A reckless immigration policy, written by McKinsey to just please the businesses with cheap labour, has severely damaged this country. Add absurd housing cost increases and unlimited government spending.
What makes me really upset is that we have no good other options. Polievre is only barking at the carbon tax, and will keep driving Canada in the wrong direction.
    I can’t vote for anyone.

Trudeau needs to go, that's long enough for any leader, but I can't stand the idea of Timbit Trump (Poilievre) getting into office. That man won't be any better for the country, most likely worse. Nothing substantial, just populist language and nothing else.

It's a rich irony, and Americans are typically blind to it when they judge the internal affairs of other countries. I'm talking about Mexico's reform of the judiciary. According to Ian Bremmer, the Mexican judiciary is set to become less independent and more aligned with whomever is in power. Doesn't that sound familiar? The judges that Trump chose for the Supreme Court and the Republican Senate endorsed are completely aligned with the right-wing conservative values. Despite the existence of life appointments, the American judicial system is as politicized.
It makes no sense to suggest that the Mexican judiciary will be more politicized when it already is. The Mexican Supreme Court's judges are a mirror of corrupt power elites. I concur that AMLO's actions are troubling. My point is that Americans are not aware of the irony and arrogance of their statements. With its implied assumption that their system of choosing judges is somehow better. In fact, it is just as politicized, especially at the highest levels of the judiciary.

Actually I have a question for Ian Bremmer. Considering the polls show a vote split in the Canadian left between the NDP and Liberals, is it possible that it isn't just that Canadians are tired with Trudeau but that the Left is split in Canada in way that it isn't in the USA. If Canada were to have a united left and a united right (I'm thinking more along the lines of traditional Republican and Democrat divides, not the present grand coalition that seems to be shaping some of Kamala Harris' support) would Pierre Poilievre actually be in the driver's seat as we head towards the Canadian federal election or that a Liberal might instead form government if the NDP were to do what was done in BC and simply suspend its election campaign.

    • @Sam19509
      @Sam19509 Месяц назад +1

lol it is not the same thing because Quebec has a separatist party that has the third most seats in the country and are gaining in the polls. They could cost Poilievre existing seats his party has in Quebec either with direct contention or vote splitting.😂

Honestly even if I was the biggest fan of Justin I would strongly advise him not to bother running we don't want to have another Joe Biden scenario wasting 2 years of people's time and likely costing the election

Ian, is it important for Southeast Asian states like Indonesia to be supportive of AUKUS? and related to that, how will the nuclear naval propulsion technology provided for Australia - a non-nuclear weapon state - impact on the future of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons? how will we respond to states wanting to have the same adoption of nuclear technology in their weapons system (such as submarines) like Australia?

FYI, inflation is at 2% in Canada and unemployment is below the historic average. But Trudeau marches in Pride parades, has a comprehensive climate policy, and has been the focus of right wing attacks from the global right wing for years. Now Joe Rogan calls him a fascist and that’s being repeated in Canada. His government is long in the tooth and he has made missteps, but if/when he is defeated, it won’t just be due to him or his policies.

While Trudeau has been king, our nation has lost respect in the international community. He is always at the margins. OLur country has become a top country to NOT IMMIGRATE TO. Just read RUclips for awhile- well trained professionals and international students do NOT recommend Canada AT ALL. Some have been here for years and have been unable to use their training, find housing or reasonable employment. Most Canadian have no idea how important and what a great contribution immigrants make to our country. But you will in the years ahead. Meanwhile the medical system has collapsed, there are many thousands of housing units required, our productivity is low and a whole bunch of that is due to the lack of leadership from the Liberals. It is not his fault, it is the fault of we the voters. So vote differently, encourage competent people to serve and demand some solutions instead of endless blather.
