- I explore more of the Hà Giang Loop in Vietnam, I check out the Kings Palace, I go to the most northerly point of the country, I ride through the most iconic conical hills of Vietnam, I see the most incredible canyon i have even seen, then check out a massive market.
Just finished up work, then watched this: what a great way to wind down....Thanks again Joe
You are always welcome JB. It's awesome you're still enjoying the series.
great video. I was in Viet Nam in 1968-69. A tumultuous time. i was in the military as a an infantry platoon leader. We never came as far north as you are in this series. I never understood why we had to be there. a beautiful country torn apart by war.
Stunning as usual. Your photographer's eye is an added value. The only drawback is that nagging sewing-machine noise. 😃Thank you so much!
It always great to hear you enjoyed the episode.
Wow! Just WOW! Thanks mate for taking “me” along for the ride! 🏍️ Appreciate your eye for detail! 😎🙏🏼🌈
It's great to hear you enjoyed the episode, it is an amazing place to ride, there is still more to come. Thanks for watching.
Hard to concentrate on the road with that landscape, good call to pull over and soak it up. Magnificent.❤
Yes, you can't ride through this area fast, just to much to see. Thanks for watching Peter.
Such a beautiful and primitive country. Hard to believe what you find just around the next bend. River crossings, castles, markets, single trac roads, to end of the road issues. The children and adults all seem very friendly., something you don't often see as much in a more modern world. Governments and military can ruin a culture. Thank God most of this is now a historical experience hopefully forgotten. Life is short- just be kind to all.!! Great videos from a land that I've never seen or experienced. 👍👍
It is an amazing country to explore, the people i have meet are so kind and friendly (yes it seems it only takes a few people making decisions that can affect so many in a negative way). It's great to hear you enjoyed the episode, I hope you enjoy the rest of the series, thanks for watching.
Spectacular, thanks for allowing us to tag along on this journey. Makes me wonder what areas my Dad saw when he was there.
It is an amazing place to ride and explore, I am heading further south to the DMZ soon in the centre of the country which if I am interpreting that right is where most dads would have spent time.
Oh no, not another dirt track? The anguish!
I've made a full recovery already and just have to wait a little over two weeks to be able to drive and ride again. Only took about three days to learn to walk again. I defy the odds yet again. As one of my daughters keeps telling everyone, "Dads just built different."😉
haha, yes the anguish. That is great to hear you have made a full recovery, you'll be back on the bike in no time.
As always thanks for the continued support, working on the next couple of journeys at the moment.
What an awesome place to ride in.
Definitely is Jason, so much to explore. As always thanks for watching
That scenery just keeps getting better and better..... :)
yes, this area really blew me away.
Superb as always, Joe this series has become my first stop on RUclips! Miraculously cheerful on a miserable grey morning in Blighty!
It's always great to hear you enjoyed the episode Ian, there still more to come. I hope the weather improves.
I rode this area in the spring. I tried to tell my friends and family how amazing it was but words don’t do it justice. Thanks for doing such a great job with your photography, cinematography and story telling. It’s nice being able to be reminded how amazing the area and people are.
You're right there mate, even with the photos, it probably doesn't do it justice, it's a place you need to see with your own eyes. It's great to hear you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.
What can you say? Like a forgotten paradise...
Yes it was a bit like that, coming around corners and think WOW where did this come from. As always thanks for watching Ralf.
Another great vlog, thanks again for sharing.
Never really took an interest in Vietnam, you have opened my eyes.
Thanks again.
I had seen a few photos but I thought it might just be a small pocket, but the scenery is everywhere, so unique and beautiful, as always thanks for watching Shayne
Hi Joe, thank you once again for a wonderful video I hope to get to Vietnam this year or next year maybe go and have a good look around. I have a friend that lives in Vietnam for the last 16 years. He absolutely loves it there. He’s got a beautiful Vietnamese wife and she looks after him like a king. She actually call him king Wayne Cliff from Australia
It is definitely worth exploring if you get the opportunity. The Vietnamese are the kindest friendliest people. As always thanks for watching
That gorge was absolutely stunning and the conical mountains reminds me of Ha long Bay.
What a stunning country.
Always a pleasure watching your videos Joe,Thank You ✨
Yes that gorge was next level, I came around the corner and was like damn I am going to have to stop. As always thanks for watching,
Absolutely stunning! Your video is so well put together-great job!
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series.
Again it's a feast to join you on your trip!
absolute bliss to the eyes , lovely video as the rest of 4 , keep the coming.
Yes, it not a place to ride fast through, there is so much to see, it's great to hear you have been enjoying the series, thanks for watching
Just breath-taking Joe. I remember when I was a little boy growing up in Far North Queensland, my father and uncles discussed the politics of Ho Chi Minh and Chiang Kai-shek with my Grandfather while he puffed away on his opium hookah, not having a clue on what they were talking about. Watching your series has stirred up a lot of deep rooted emotion I never knew I had, looking at the stunning scenes and the hard but honest village life. If you weren’t a master documentary maker before, “I hereby decree” you as one now. 😊
Thanks Bruce it's always great to hear you're still enjoying the series. There is a lot of complicated history here from wars and occupation from the French, Chinese and what we know as the Vietnam War (here the short version is called the American War). I do go down into the DMZ and explore that part of the country and history.
Another great episode Joe… what a contrast from the Himalayas 👌🏽
thanks mate, yes going from the high deserts to the lush jungle is a huge change .
Yep I needed my dose of Joe adventures today and as always was delivered sensationally cheers.
It's great to hear you enjoyed it James, Vietnam just keeps delivering. As always thanks for watching.
WOW 🎉🎉🎉 Thanks 👍🎉🎉🎉
It's great to hear you enjoyed the episode David, as always thanks for watching.
Simply amazing! Awesome views and good storytelling!
I think you described Vietnam perfectly "simply amazing" Thanks for watching
Nice! The 411 Scram is a bit of a do it all, yes? It's almost more of an ADV bike than the Himalayan. I think the upgraded model will be a hit this year. I'd call the pointy mountains Dragons Teeth, since they look like the teeth from a T-Rex. No matter what we'd call them, it's stunning landscapes.
It's definitely a bike that gets me through anything that I come across which is awesome. I have just heard they have a new one coming, i think it has a bit more power.
Yes Vietnam is stunning and unique
As always thanks for watching
@@freewayproject yes, with bigger displacement, and an extra gear in the box. 👍
Any Geologists (or as Joe would say, Rock Doctors) here? That gorge seemed (to me) to be erosion cut, but what about the conical mountains? Are they just harder volcanic rock that was surrounded by a softer rock (limestone?) that has eroded away?
And Joe, another great days journey with stunning visuals and storytelling - thank you!
Great question.
It's great to hear you are still enjoying the episode Malcolm, as always thanks for watching.
Utterly beautiful views, what an amazing country to visit and explore.
You definitely have that right mate, it is an incredible country to explore. Thanks for watching.
Loved every second Joe! Thank you, ride on!
as always it great to hear you enjoyed the episode.
Why didnt you go up the tower ? To the flag? Lovely views up there.. and yes after all those steps i was out of breathe too. 😂
I did get up there, I just didn't get a shot. Yes puffing to much haha. Thanks for watching.
YES ! ive been waiting for this part of your trip. Ha Giang is so beautiful ! love it man ! keep it up !
Yes going through this section was truely amazing. Thanks for watching.
10:44 snake 🫢
you are the first person to pick that up, I also saw the little guy on the way down.
The bus takes you up to the dam and the boats which go up to, and through the gorge. Rather spectacular, shame you didn't know.
Thanks for the information Peter, that makes sense now. Hopefully I'll get to check it to next time from the water.
Удачи Друг. Приятно смотреть твоими глазами. Спасибо.
Спасибо, приятно слышать, что вам понравился этот эпизод.
Coming from the Himalayas, this richness in vegetation must be overwhelming. Thanks for sharing you trips with us. Stay safe and enjoy every moment (although you might already be back for a while now :D )
Yes from high deserts to lush jungles it was a massive change. It great to hear you are still enjoying the series. You never know I might be on the next journey.. Thanks for watching
@freewayproject I guess I never missed a single Episode since New Zealand. I hope there is more to come 😉
Oh yeah! Friday morning Theatre Mode, Hey Joe!
Only recently became aware of your channel. I've been getting caught up on some of your past videos. I'm from Washington State in the USA but my daughter and her family live in the Sunny Coast (Mudjimba) of Australia and we go there almost every year. Leaving in April to be there again. A pretty place and it seems you might live near there.
It's great to hear you are enjoying the pervious series. I am a big fan of the Pacific North West, I am hoping to get to ride through there in the future. I am a bit further down from the Sunny coast near the border.
Amazing view and love your vlogs.... you really inspired me to go solo on bike
Vietnam is an amazing place to explore. Solo is a lot of fun on the bike.
Love it!
Thanks mate.
Man, those hills!- absolutely beautiful-- and all those precarious houses with views, that, if they were in say, Europe, or America- would be worth millions- --what a country-- : )
yes those hills are so unique, amazing to ride through. You're right about the houses with the views. Thanks for watching
I love it
It is an incredible place. Thanks for watching.
Amazing how many tracks in the middle of nowhere are sealed or concrete. In Au they would all be dirt.
Yes there are a lot of sealed ones, it is so hilly I think if they weren't sealed the people wouldn't be able to get up or down them in the wet, which can be a lot of the time.
At 15:50 if you have took the right there is an amazing viewpoint to see the gorge
I think I probably miss so many, but grateful I get some glimpses of these amazing locations. Thanks for watching
beautiful shots wow
It is a stunningly beautiful area. Thanks for watching
Good video again mate
thanks Shaun, always great to hear you enjoyed it
Amazing views, riding by the river is the best.
It was an amazing area to ride through and the colour of the water was incredible. Thanks for watching.
Great episode as always Joe. I am certainly looking forward to Cao Bang next week.
Thanks mate, there is a lot of water next week.
Northern Vietnam is beautiful thanks for your uploads, I''ll be in Lao Cai, Kim Son next week not sure if we could meet up would be nice to have a beer with you!
The north is an amazing area to explore. The episodes take me a while to edit each one so I am no longer in the north.
That valley was something else!
May I offer one small suggestion for editing? Perhaps bring the soundtrack a couple dB down. With headphones and the level adjusted for your voice, it gets a bit loud. It might be just me, though.
It definitely was special.
The sound track normally gets pulled down between -18 and -22db. but is normally editing in noise homes stays sometimes tent, airport etc, never in an editing sweet (which I would normally do my documentary work in) I don't have the space in my bags for a set of head phones so that out also (small wireless ones have a delay so useless for editing). I only get enough time to edit once so don't get to check back over as I would with a normal documentary. It is what it is.
Thanks for watching.
Awesome Joe, off the beaten track as normal, gotta come to Thailand, ride safe
Thanks mate, Thailand is on the list that's for sure.
@@freewayproject COOL
Sitting here wondering if that "tappet-y" top end is gonna make it all the way.
Awesome series mate, did you head to the Pavi Hmong village? Also head over to gods eye mountain and ban gioc! Theyre pretty epic
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series, it only halfway through the series so there is still a lot more to come. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the series, thanks for watching.
gezz Joe you made me duck when you went past that excavator.
haha sorry about that, there wasn't that much room to get through. I hope you enjoy the episode.
Amazing place, thank you! Do many people speak english or can they get by without speaking the language?
I think it many the Vietnamese who have jobs that interact with traveller and tourist can speak English but a lot of the farmers and villages don't speak english (obviously some can but in general), most in the north speak just Vietnamese.
It is certainly an amazing place.
Brilliant video as always! I too have a scram and its great to see it tackle its natural environment, anywhere! I'm in Aus and wanted to know how you sourced the bike in Vietnam? I would love to do a similar trip.
Thanks mate, it is great to hear you enjoyed the episode. Yes the bike seems to be able to get me through most situations. As I mention at the beginning of the first episode Royal Enfield lent me the bike for the journey.
I will ride the loop in march 25. I'm thinking about clothing. What time of year did you travel and what is your recommendation? Is there breakfast and dinner in the homestays.
Thanks for the great Videos and best regards from Germany
Georg
I rode from 2nd march and was there a month, and was chilly and damp in the hills but warm in the lower parts and hot at others so a light water proof jacket and layers is the key.
It was hot for me in October but it should be a bit cooler in March as mentioned by roytoal9947. It's not super cold but another layer might help.
I didn't eat breakfast as was always gone early, but there is always dinner in my experience.
Wow, what a stunning place. You get yourself into some beautiful parts of the world man. Quick question, which drone are you using for those aerial shots?
The north of Vietnam is incredible. I am using the DJI MAVIC PRO 3
@freewayproject oh nice! That's some serious kit. Been looking at DJI's more entry level stuff to have a play with. I use Canon for stills but I'm realizing drones can get shots that you simply can't get with a normal DLSR.
please do Philippine Loop :)
Philippines is definitely on the list.
Where did you hire the bike please?
I was watching this, ruclips.net/video/C2i1CbO5J60/видео.htmlsi=1aXh9afdT4J9wgST, when your notification popped up, I wonder how many of you can relate to this, I can.
I'll have to check it out, thanks for sending through.
Love you doing what you do & living the dream Joe...& the scenery is exceptional.
Only I cringed on you adopting the American very slang 'super cool' in there.
The English speaking world & those who use it as 2nd languages must refrain from following the Americans abuse of the English language.
In this instance, the word the Americans rightly got from the English was 'very' & yet that word has become obsolete now in the US... like many they took from the English.
'Very' as it was 10years ago...please Joe. The world must stand it's ground & stop following American nonsensical ways.
