      It's his team regardless of who he hires, it seems pretty clear he just doesn't want to be the public face of oilers front office. Don't think he enjoys the media aspects of the job, and he'd be required to live in Edmonton full time. Seems like he enjoys this type of setup. I imagine any major decisions in the future will still be going through Jeff Jackson.

    There was that article in The National Post or Globe and Mail about 4 years ago that supposed that Canadian teams aren't succeeding because the GM's are unconsciously swayed by the pressure of the strong fanbases not to mess up. It's safer not to mess up if you want to keep your job a little longer than to take big swings and risk underachieving. Jackson is acting like he hasn't noticed that pressure. It's great. I don't want to complain after this year's run, but even at the deadline, I did think optimally Holland should have gone more all in somehow. Even with the constraints. Being two goals off a cup sort of makes it look like any little bit more aggressive, might have done it. Just saying. I like this approach, and it would have done well sprinkled in in the recent past too.

  • @Siggi395
    @Siggi395 Месяц назад +1

    I won't say anything right now, because I don't want to be like the other 1,000 GMs/insiders in this city.
    How many times have we been sky high/giddy on someone and then be let down 2 years later when that player is a so called "pylon" or a "slug".
    Does Ethan Bear, Justin Shulz, Jesse Puularjvi, Jeff Petry, Jordan Eberle come to mind?
    This Matt Savoie kid may very well be a good NHLer, but let's not put too much pressure on him. That's all I'm saying.

    I think McLeod lost a step when his family issues happened in January. I didn’t have him pencilled in the line up after July 1 haul. Too good to pass waivers and not good enough to stay. That was a HR by Jackson.

    • @TheWarawaj
      @TheWarawaj Месяц назад +1

      @@ryans413 IMO Broberg is the next 2nd pair LHD, but in order for that to happen, he needs to play on his natural side this upcoming season. Kulak either needs to get traded or he plays RHD on line 2, Stecher can play 3rd line RHD. But EDM needs a legit top RHD for Nurse or Broberg moving forward. If we can sort that out before the season starts, then the team has the whole season to gel.
