I always felt like the only reason Destiny had a physical shield was it was tacked on after the engineers saw combat footage of Shinn doing the "toss shield and reflect shot off it" maneuver with his Impulse and thought "Oh MAN, that's the slickest shit EVER! Our new suit's gotta be able to do that too!"
they brought it back briefly in the original maxi boost. You start as gp01 and have to wait for a meter to switch to fb. it sucked in the real pvp match. something better left in the past.
@@MinatoVersus that's true, but it was neat detail in Next Plus. If they ever do a similar thing again, i guess they can implement it as a last chance feature where FB downgrades to normal GP01 like what they did with Reborns and 0 Gundam
In Rengou vs Zaft 2, when you successfully block a gerobi beam attack (or any other attack really but it's most visible when blocking gerobi) with a beam shield, it comes with the classic sound effect of shield blocking just like in the anime, and the beam shield has a rippling visual effect while it's in the middle of the block. This I thought was an extremely cool detail, and it's a huge shame that in EXVS, the sound and visual effect of blocking became universal. It lost quite a lot of flavour
I really miss the older gundam games for small things like these. I feel like those were back when the devs were trying really hard to recreate the authentic feels of the shows first and foremost. Nowadays, while EXVS series are fantastic with diverse MS selection and move sets, I can't help but feel a bit of the heart and soul were lost with the emphasis now completely shifted to focus on the "versus" part, and the "gundam" part now feels like window dressing to some degree. (It's very apparent when looking at the single player content for example)
I honestly feel for both sides. They have to come up with a moveset that is true to the characters and optimize the experience for 2v2 gameplay. That said, it's nice that they're still trying to improve some of the models and correct wrong sfx in the past. in fact, iirc ff nu gundam had to tone down the ms details as it can cause the game to lag.
@@MinatoVersus Oh absolutely. Moveset wise those are as genuine and authentic as they get. I just meant the other content/minor details surrounding it seem to have taken a back seat. The 2v2 gameplay is at its best, but I just think it's a shame that other content, like single player missions, took a pretty huge blow to quality due to the very clear design focus shift. In Rengou vs Zaft 2 for example, we had missions where we could legit stand on a moving warship and guard it like how it was shown in the anime while the warship shoots back at attackers too, or attacking the positron cannon base mission featured an actual positron cannon that can shoot. Some other creative missions like protecting Meer as she dances at the map centre while nukes fly in from all direction, or features such as commanding Authrun to commit suicide while piloting Aegis, etc. To me, those were really special moments that really captured a special feel of authenticity that imo, just haven't been captured in any recent gundam games for quite some time. This was also back when they'd regularly release home versions of the arcade VS titles. I'm not saying the current direction is bad though. EXVS plays better than ever. I just can't help but feel we lost a lot of other nice things in the process getting to the latest iteration :/
The older Vs games like Zeta vs Titans made full use of verniers on mobile suits similar to ACs from Armored Core VI. You can see MS like the Mk. 2 use its shoulder and leg verniers whenever it turns. The original Destiny gundam from Rengou vs Zaft II could use verniers located on its waist and its wings of light normally without using grab (I wish they kept this).
Another thing I noticed too on the Solidus Fulgor is that the color is off. In the anime it’s blue with a a pinkish tint at times. While in the Ex Vs series it’s straight up just pink. It’s minor and I like to think it’s a design choice by the developers. I prefer the newer games just having the beam shield instead of that physical one. That small little shield never did much when compared to the beam shield.
@@MinatoVersus is kinda funny how zz gundam can beat any unit in exvsfb without any problem (if you know how to play with it in the game),in other words, the annoying ms AI can be beaten without problem
I greatly miss Space Combat from Federation Vs Zeon. They need to make that work again. I also miss the Strike Freedom's multi-lock CSA which it lost in MBON but apparently returns in EXVS2 for some reason.
they bring it back for those with multi lock CSA that's legit good like Wing EW. For SF, changing the input to directional csa instead of multi lock target csa is also much better and more practical.
GVG next plus will always be the superior amd best GUNDAM game of all time. I can say that because we all failed our examinations in school focusing more on GVG then studies and we are proud of it.
Justice in Rengou vs ZAFT can block beams using its combined beam sabers by spinning it like a Jedi. Not sure if they brought it back for ExVS2 but that was pretty cool back then.
Providence using his Vulcans during his main charged shot in Next Plus was a detail that had no reason to be removed in later games. Among other things like how his Dragoons had a zig-zag flight pattern when chasing after an opponent (accurate to the show).
@@MinatoVersus Aerial, Nightingale and others have unorthodox flight/tracking patterns for their Funnels. There's always a way to do cool yet balanced stuff with some effort.
Interestingly, Nightingale's was so broken that they have to tweak it to the point where it's not as effective nowadays. The Aerial bit is also causing a lot of problems, so they are probably going to make it weaker in the future.
I have played Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus for a long time now and I Never Knew that when the Destiny Gundam respawns after dying, it doesn't have its physical shield
So Destiny has physical shield as well as beam shield? That’s nice, from what I saw, I know that Rising Freedom has physical shield, but according to HG gunpla of it, it also has beam shields, making it similar in concept to the first version of Destiny you showed, with both physical and beam shields.
I mean as far as I concerned, beam shield cannot block powerful melee/physical attacks, hence why physical shield does have some merits on that regard, while beam shield gives you wider range to defend yourself.
@@handa9233 wdym, the beam shield blocks physical attacks as well. there is literally no reason for physical shields to exist in late CE except for power constraints (which the Gundams dont have coz nuke engines).
Personally i think Gvgn+ have more anime accurate effects like exia trans am after image and destiny wing of light boost appear closer following the ms movement. Exia can activate trans am freely but only once per life. 00 quantize and reappears quickly anywhere following your input and U can counter attack with this. Unicorn will have red lining when ntd mode is fully charged and plain when ntd depleted ( i think this is not available in any other version since).
For some reason in Next+ the Zeta will flex in its victory pose and its backpack just explodes off. I have no idea what this is referencing besides the fact someone at Capcom and Bandai thought it was cool.
Well since the destiny's physical shield's purpose have always been quite sketchy (you have the strongest defensive system in the CE worldview of the beam shields installed on you so why do you need a physical one), i feel like a destiny gundam without a physical one does make some good sense.
Did you know if you play as boss unit (using cheat) and sortie with related character from it's series ( e.g. psycho gundam + zeta) you get unique and unused dialogue
