I always assumed that he is tarnished, and just being a prick. Besides, the only way to get into Mohg's service is to kill your maiden and stain an oath cloth in her blood. He does make an exception for you being maidenless, so I think it stands to reason he also had a maiden once and killed her to complete his own trial.

I wonder what color Miquella's eyes might be. Gold is a safe assumption, but considering the other Empyreans we meet, I suppose it's not guaranteed. We never truly see Ranni's eyes, just the doll she inhabits modeled after her old mentor; Malenia's eyes are rotted over; we never actually see Marika's eyes at any point (Radagon's are depicted as pure black in both the Radagon Icon and in his portrait at the Roundtable Hold, but he isn't an Empyrean himself). If Melina is an Empyrean as well, this would at least establish a pattern of sealed/missing eyes between her and Ranni, assuming the spectral face is Ranni's true self. Oddly enough, Marika's fractured form has her entire left eye removed, socket and all, perhaps reiterating this trend. Concept art depicts Melina with a violet right eye, though, so perhaps it's not implausible that Miquella could have a violet eye as well... That is, if we ever actually get to meet him, lol.
Melina has a violet eye in the Frenzied Flame ending if you get it without her burning herself at the mountaintops of the giants, so that's confirmed at least. Miquella with purple eye/s would be incredibly interesting depending on how they handle St Trina in the DLC.
@@sylvastreak Blaidd's eyes seem to be the same violet hue as Melina's, and they even have the same sort of galactic whirl. What if Melina and Miquella are the same person? Melina being a projection of sorts to guide you on your quest, while Miquella’s physical form is trapped in Mohgwyn Palace. Miquella is known to take on multiple forms and identities, with St. Trina being the most well known, and his mother/father is also up to the same tricks. It would fit with the theory of Melina being some kind of offshoot or child of Marika too.
@@Astfgl I always figured Melina was simply Miquella and Malenia's sister. The demigods tend to be born as triplets, as with Morgott, Mohg, and Godwyn, and Radahn, Rykard, and Ranni, so it would be odd if Miquella and Malenia were the exception. (Godrick also doesn't fit the triplet pattern, but only because Godwyn died, and he was an inheritor of sorts.) Melina's hair is a rosy auburn color, like a fusion of red and gold. Miquella and Malenia are essentially clones of Marika and Radagon, but what if Melina was born after the two parents fractured into one? Perhaps none of the demigods even know of Melina's existence, then. There's also the fact that she wears the Traveler's Garb, like Millicent and her sisters. Plus, her name itself matches pretty closely with Miquella and Malenias'. The three butterflies we acquire-Nascent, Aeonian, and Smoldering-further illustrate some connection between the three.
Sucks you had to reupload, but I'll gladly give it a rewatch. I'd be back around to watch it again in a couple of months anyhow 😂 Thanks for always having interesting, quality videos, Zullie!
This gave me an interesting idea. Milicent is "an offshoot" of Melania but it's hard to know exactly what that means. However, what happened to Malenia's arm that was replaced with a prosthetic? Specifically her hand and fingers... I think that somehow Milicent and her 4 sisters grew from Malenia's rotted off arm-specifically from the fingers of her rotten hand. Then they "sprouted" up and grew with Gowry's rot invocations, which would make the "offshoot" description make more sense.
The prosthetic was made from Miquella's unalloyed gold, designed to stop the scarlet rot. However, scarlet rot itself is known to be able to mutate things, as we can see from Calid's wildlife. It's possible that the sisters are direct clones from Melania, but it's unlikely that it was mutated to that degree, and none of the sisters seem strong enough to be part empyrean.
Makes sense, her signature move is literally a blooming bud and her awakening/ascension to godhod is also referred to as blooming. Rot also seems to be more like a disease than a poison. Like, sth caused by the spores of a plant/fungus I feel like this all weaves together too perfectly to not have a deeper meaning rather than just being aesthetically pleasing.
Great theory! Also would make sense as to why Millicent can live a comparatively long time with Scarlet Rot affliction while everything else in the game dies to it so quickly. When you proc it on an enemy (or get it proc'd on you) it's a very active disease that quickly kills the host. But Malenia has the Rot essence inside her and it's slowly eating away at her over many years, like she has some level of natural resistance to it due it being ingrained in her DNA. Would make sense for her "offshoots" to have the same trait (but still be more heavily crippled by it due to being mere humans instead of demigods)
@@kadinwisniewski6928 malania is definitely resistant to the scarlet rot, but most of that is due to the unalloyed gold arm miquella gave her. It was a gift by him to quell her disease. Of course, milicent was surviving even before you give her the needle and arm.
I think that hair color is important too, at least when it comes to the divine family. Each of the descendants inherits from one of the parents with some curious symbolism. The easiest one to see is Radagon's fierce red, passed to Malenia and Radahn, both great warriors alike their father. It can also be seen with kind and graceful gold of Marika, inherited by Godwyn and Miquella, who are associated with kindness and how closely they are associated with Erdtree and the Golden Order. The next to are less apparent but I think they make sense too. Godfrey's grey is color of rulers, he was the first Elden Lord, and it can be seen on Morgot and Godrick (even if he was a distant offshot), both of which we find ruling over certain place. And lastly, Rennala's black of defiance, who fought with the Golden Order at first, later inherited by Rykard who joined with the Serpent to fight the Erdtree. That also brings to another conclusion. I think that Ranni's original hair color is not red as suggested, but instead black, signaling her absolute betrayal she commits against the Erdtree and all of her family.
I instinctively started humming the Twilight Princess Castle Town music before the video even started. Imagine my surprise when the tune kept going after I’d stopped. Excellent taste as always, Zullie!
It's a shame that we got special unique eyes for things like getting a certain number of dragon incantations but never a glintstone themed eyes for something like learning all spells or finishing Sellen's quest.
the eyes that we do unlock do all seem to hint at some outer god or force taking over us (flame of frenzy, formless mother, turning into a magma wyrm) though I would assume atleast learning the primordial sorceries would have an affect on your character
Well, learning magic doesn't change you. To learn Dragon incantations, however, you have to eat the heart of a dragon, an action that is said to slowly turn you into a draconic creature (Every Magma wyrm in the game was once like you). So, between memorizing a spell and altering your being, which one do you think should be visible on your body ?
Zullie I’m always so excited to see your work out out on your page. I’m sure we all as a community appreciate your in depth analysis of the games and hope you are doing well!
I actually had a similar thought about the incantations and spells that say they only effect Tarnished, I think it does allude to these things being specific in game, but from a standpoint of character models I completely see what you mean by that.
patches sharing eye colours with the dung eater and godfrey is interesting to me. he was the most enduring of all the characters in his Souls incarnation (considering he was around when the ashen one performed an old growth slash-and-burn on the ringed city [and therefore the world])... tbh id play war thunder again but im pretty sure for me thats the equivalent of growing bangs.
The mention about certain spells specifically affecting Tarnished reminds me of certain weapons and such affecting only Hollows in the Souls games. In particular I'm thinking of the Hollowslayer Greatsword from DS3. I like that we see its impact in action when fighting Gael. In phase 1 before the cutscene Gael is not considered hollow, but after the cutscene he is considered hollow and the HSGS does its 20% bonus damage against him. Similarly to the Farron Greatsword doing 20% bonus damage against anything abyssal. I like the added effort of spells and weapons affecting enemies based on more subtle details like that.
One thing about Thops and Thops' Barrier reflecting incantations is that it isn't actually unique to him because Carian Retaliation also reflects incantations as well as sorceries, just with the additional effect of summoning glintblade swords. It even and especially can dispel Radagon's and Elden Beast's holy attacks, which I don't know about any code flags, but lore-wise would be the strongest forms of holy magic in the world.

1:12 Did not expect this part at all. Glad you got sponsored, regardless of form of your videos, altho in long term it might be a bit of immersive-breaker.
Eyes are some of my favorite things to design, even if they won’t get noticed. I use eyes a lot for symbolism when designing characters. It’s great that Elden Ring dived into something similar, and that creators are pointing it out! On that note, I did Varre’s questline and my once blind man now has crystal clear (well, bloodshot) eyes. I’m glad being a blood seeking fiend has cured his blindness (I actually had no idea it changed his eye color until recently lmao)

Ok so if Reeling Rico and Roderika have green eyes and one is connected to Saint Trina (Miquella) Maybe that eye color has some relation to the spirit/dream realm. I have a feeling we'll see more of these eyes in the DLC, possibly even Rico lol
This is a detail that I picked up on pretty early on and from that point on, whenever I made a new character, I paid special attention to their eye color and what it means for them. Even if those eyes mostly stay hidden under a mask/helmet 😅
this says uploaded 10 hours ago but I swear I watched this exact video a few weeks ago edit: just checked description now I understand why anyways good video it sucks how you had to reupload it I dont even know what that does with the algorithm or anything but whatever
Ah, that first dead finger maiden. Probably the greatest horror we all pass over is the absence of death. She is still in the body, it’s just broken, paralyzed and waiting to decay to free the soul.
With Hawkshaws video about the Color Theory in Elden Ring this makes it all more interesting. Eleonora gets her bloody finger severed by Yura, his dying move to save her from the 'cessblood'. Then, all the academy has blue eyes to show their intelligence.
Perhaps a lot of models were completed before certain story changes, so in in some cases the color might be inconsistent. Or a model (for example Thops) was intended for a different character, so he was left with gold eyes.
Roderika's eyes look more blue at this point. As it appears the camera shot is from when she first arrives at the Round Table Hold, next to the fireplace。 1:08 Then later, when she's taken out of the vicinity of the fireplace, her eyes appear more teal... even cyan。 A blue... with tinges of green。 7:45 It's fascinating to see all these characters unmasked; when... typically... they're *only* found, within the confines of the game, as being covered。 This attention to details for characters, whose features would not be seen by the vast majority of players; makes it seem the nuance was created for those that delve beyond the confines of the base game。 Almost as if the director has been dedicated to creating these virtual realms... of such depth... for years。 All the while... watching... as "miners" tease out story details from behind "the curtain"。 Knowing what color of make-up is used by the actors, only tells us what color of make-up they use。 It's when they are on stage... in their environment... do we see the reason that coloration was chosen。 By a director that is known for being so attentive to detail, that he would personally be involved with character designs; all the way to the style of buttons on a coat。
Not me being so desperate for elden ring lore videos I watched the entire thing through not realizing it was a reupload I had already seen haha. Just thought there was gonna be more added on from last time and it was being gone over again oops
Eyes have rings. Eyes are needed for vision. The tarnish must become lord to restore a ring. lords have vision for their kingdom. Elden lord is a pupil?
Off-topic, but I just noticed that Rya and Tanith share the same hairstyle. It's such a sweet untold story of their mother-daughter bond, showing that Tanith herself taught Rya all the things a little woman should know and Rya followed her with trust and admiration.
You can see the eyeballs in the Tarnished's head if you move the camera close to him/her while he/she is opening a catacomb door, from the viewpoint of the door.
A theory I saw that might hold some value is Boggart might’ve been on the hit list from VM. When you return the necklace to Rya she talks almost like you killed Boggart because she assumed you would. And Boggart having the necklace might’ve been intentional on Rya’s part, seeing if someone would take up killing Boggart and completing the contract. She was looking for someone who the VM would benefit from, as why else would she be there? A little vacation?
For my DLC preparation playthrough I’ve created my character with heterochromia. One eye is blue, the other is golden. As I can’t decide between my two favorite endings: The age of Order and The age of the Stars

Rot also seems to be more like a disease than a poison.
Like, sth caused by the spores of a plant/fungus
I feel like this all weaves together too perfectly to not have a deeper meaning rather than just being aesthetically pleasing.
Rykard is blond
Great observation
Damn. Vargram goes so hard without his helmet
Unless you gazed into the Primeval current for it, like Sellen's 2 masters, but your eyes wouldn't be your only body part turning into minerals
@@uninconnu5844
Half your body turning into a rock after learning the primeval sorceries would be badass.
@@CazadorSlayer Sounds like too much work. If its not something from their previous games they can reuse, from wont bother
0:25 WHY DID YOU HAVE TO FRAME THAT SO WELL
The eyes, chico, they never lie.
Man, the moment that T-72B3 rolled across Limgrave, I knew the armored cores were in for a big surprise.
I close my right eye and it is Carrie Ann Moss. I close my left eye and it is Noel Fielding. Fascinating.
Legitimately the coolest ad bit Ive seen, Ive never seen a silent one before lol
Hey Zullie thank you so much for making a longer Video, i look forward to every single one so this one is a special treat! Thank you so much for your efforts :)
I would have imagined Gideon had a crew cut like like a military guy
1:12 Did not expect this part at all.
Glad you got sponsored, regardless of form of your videos, altho in long term it might be a bit of immersive-breaker.
Eyes are windows to the soul.
Dung eater looks nothing like I expected but also it makes so much sense for him to look like that.
Referring to him as "The Great Kenneth Haight" was great. Thanks for the hard work on the interesting video!
Ok i wasnt expecting the war thunder jumpscare, this game follows me everywhere lmao.
Well, lets watch again.
I think the Volcano Manor just assumes you kill Boggart, even if you actually buy Rya's necklace back and let him go
"are my eyes graced of gold anon?"
5:16 snake 🐍 is like “hello yt”
lmao
Hope you're resting well, Zullie. : ) Thanks for what you do.
An opportunity to rewatch a Zullie video?
Heck yeah lets gooo! 😆
I will gladly rewatch this video and the sponsored segment so Zullie can get that bag! 💰
I dont mind rewatching these :D
Eyes are some of my favorite things to design, even if they won’t get noticed. I use eyes a lot for symbolism when designing characters. It’s great that Elden Ring dived into something similar, and that creators are pointing it out!
On that note, I did Varre’s questline and my once blind man now has crystal clear (well, bloodshot) eyes. I’m glad being a blood seeking fiend has cured his blindness (I actually had no idea it changed his eye color until recently lmao)
I thought this was a reupload, and it was odd to not find anyone in the comments talking about it initially, and I'm glad that the description proved me right ahfnfg. That being said, I still rewatched the video, this topic in particular was edpecially interesting when presented in the previous upload so a refresher was nice regardless :)
Playing in the background to support Zullie 👍
Love warthunder. Get that bag Zullie!
Hey, nice, a reminder to watch this again. serendipitous!
I was having really uncomfortable deja vu for the first minute of the video until I finally decided to read the description lol
4:15 Lusat have mercy upon me *eyes pop out of head*
Just gonna ket this video play by itself while i do something else, since i already watched it but i want you to have the viewtime since your videos are always great. Keep up the awesome work, cheers from Brazil !!!
Is this is a reupload? I could've sworn I'd seen this all before.
Yeah there's something wrong with the sponsor part so they have to reupload
Ok so if Reeling Rico and Roderika have green eyes and one is connected to Saint Trina (Miquella) Maybe that eye color has some relation to the spirit/dream realm. I have a feeling we'll see more of these eyes in the DLC, possibly even Rico lol
I always love the music choice in your videos
I was surprised to see the length of this video, I hope we get more 10-ish minute long videos in the future!
This is a detail that I picked up on pretty early on and from that point on, whenever I made a new character, I paid special attention to their eye color and what it means for them. Even if those eyes mostly stay hidden under a mask/helmet 😅
this says uploaded 10 hours ago but I swear I watched this exact video a few weeks ago
edit: just checked description now I understand why
anyways good video it sucks how you had to reupload it I dont even know what that does with the algorithm or anything but whatever
6:15 man’s higher than the stratosphere
Ah, that first dead finger maiden. Probably the greatest horror we all pass over is the absence of death. She is still in the body, it’s just broken, paralyzed and waiting to decay to free the soul.
Gideon looks so incredibly sinister and judgmental, almost like a Ghoul
I see a Zullie video, I click. It's that simple.
I'll do my due diligence and rewatch the video
Zullie be seeking the great ones with this recent obsession with eyes
Seeing the faces of all of these familiar characters makes me wish the player camera angle didn't obscure them so much
Seeing boggart so beautiful makes me extremely sad about him being tortured by the dung eater.
the war thunder ad completely caught me off guard and made me think the tanks were part of an elden ring deep dive.
With Hawkshaws video about the Color Theory in Elden Ring this makes it all more interesting. Eleonora gets her bloody finger severed by Yura, his dying move to save her from the 'cessblood'. Then, all the academy has blue eyes to show their intelligence.
Sellen's pretty. Nice work.
I didn't expect this video to be how I learned the D twins names
algorithm boost so the reupload doesn't hurt your metrics 👍
Perhaps a lot of models were completed before certain story changes, so in in some cases the color might be inconsistent. Or a model (for example Thops) was intended for a different character, so he was left with gold eyes.
Thank you again for your knowledge fellow wizard 👌
Roderika's eyes look more blue at this point.
As it appears the camera shot is from when she first arrives at the Round Table Hold, next to the fireplace。
1:08
Then later, when she's taken out of the vicinity of the fireplace, her eyes appear more teal... even cyan。
A blue... with tinges of green。
7:45
It's fascinating to see all these characters unmasked; when... typically... they're *only* found, within the confines of the game, as being covered。
This attention to details for characters, whose features would not be seen by the vast majority of players;
makes it seem the nuance was created for those that delve beyond the confines of the base game。
Almost as if the director has been dedicated to creating these virtual realms... of such depth... for years。
All the while... watching... as "miners" tease out story details from behind "the curtain"。
Knowing what color of make-up is used by the actors, only tells us what color of make-up they use。
It's when they are on stage... in their environment... do we see the reason that coloration was chosen。
By a director that is known for being so attentive to detail, that he would personally be involved with character designs; all the way to the style of buttons on a coat。
6:57 Such is the standing of he, the great Kenneth Haight.
wow... the dung eater actually looks like he eats dung under his helmet lool
Not me being so desperate for elden ring lore videos I watched the entire thing through not realizing it was a reupload I had already seen haha. Just thought there was gonna be more added on from last time and it was being gone over again oops
re-liking the re-upload, so I can re-support my favorite... uh... re-youtuber?
hmmmmm....
I'm a bit of a re-searcher.
to the point about thops: his sorceries are green, which combines the blue of glintstone magic and the yellow of holy magic
Omg i wouldn't have guessed that's what yura looks like 😂
Gideon is a looker, as usual.
Eyes have rings. Eyes are needed for vision. The tarnish must become lord to restore a ring. lords have vision for their kingdom. Elden lord is a pupil?
Thops owes you money for that headshot. Shit was zesty.
I watched through the whole video before realizing this is a reupload LOL
Off-topic, but I just noticed that Rya and Tanith share the same hairstyle. It's such a sweet untold story of their mother-daughter bond, showing that Tanith herself taught Rya all the things a little woman should know and Rya followed her with trust and admiration.
You can see the eyeballs in the Tarnished's head if you move the camera close to him/her while he/she is opening a catacomb door, from the viewpoint of the door.
Me: *gives all his souls characters gold eyes bc he thinks it looks cool*
OH NO THE LORE
There is a recurring focus on eyes, reminds me of the beast plague from bloodborne
Watching this video proves how little of Elden Ring I actually saw during my playthrough. Cause I recognized maybe a quarter of these npcs.
For my DLC preparation playthrough I’ve created my character with heterochromia. One eye is blue, the other is golden. As I can’t decide between my two favorite endings: The age of Order and The age of the Stars
What a shame that the game’s visual language has a different meaning for that
