  • Today I changed the diesel fuel filter on our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2D.
Straightforward enough job once you get access, but it will definitely go a bit smoother next time!
I buy my service parts from www.diycarserviceparts.co.uk/
    The oil comes from Penrite

Doing a full fluids and filters service on a 2012 2.2 Diesel santafe I’ve just bought with 300k on the clock. Thank you SO SO much for these videos! Really takes the guess work out of it.

Thanks for the video. Been putting this job off on mine for a while now concerned about the priming. Think I will still fill the filter with diesel before I fit it to the top housing, but your video has given me the encouragement to do this job.
    Cheers🍺

You can always tell when its Spring in New Zealand because every Kiwi bloke, feels the need to go visit his shed. I was a bit worried about how brittle all that plastic might be, but no worries, as they say. Cheers!

Looks to be the exact same filter assembly that is fitted to my Kia Rio diesel, and although not quite as buried in the engine bay as yours is, it is still more of a ball ache to get out than it needs to be for a regular service item in my humble opinion. I reckon it is the very first component that they start with when they build a car brand new, they hold the filter assembly in their left hand, then pick up a bare body shell and bolt it to it.
And, a "Top tip of the week" from this now really old, very aged, but still avid follower of your mechanical endeavours .... Whenever i am doing anything with any noxious fluids such as fuels, oils or brake fluid, I always slide some old piece of thick carpet under where there may be potential for leaks and spillages. The stuff with the closed cell foam backing I find the best as any fluids it don't soak through to the floor underneath.
    Many thanks
    David in Dudley.

Have the 2010 Santa Fe diesel 2.4 and the fuel filter is much easier to access. Great video as always.

Diesel filter has a plunger thing on top and you leave the top fuel pipe off and pump it til diesel flows out.... that's what I did on my Kia proceed, it started like a charm,🤗

Good to know. This setup definitely didn't have a plunger/primer. Cheers!

    Hi Johnathan
For a petite bloke you can maneuver under the bonet quite easily. All that diesel on the drive will buff out nicely , im sure. Don't wait 4 years to make another vid eh 😅👍

350,000 in is land cruiser territory!! I've just bottom myself my father in law's old one. 2017 V6 will 246k on our. Brilliant car!!
Having them up. I have 3 tonne jack. My Falcon is easy. Where do you use the having points front and rear on the Hyundai? It looks like you go of the lower control arms for the front.
I was thinking sills would be the best option?

They sure use every bit of available space, don't they. That spot will be gone in a month. 😁

Designed for Korean sized limbs to fit in there. The spot has gone now, I stopped slipping over on it a few days ago 😁

Same setup as Tucson, does turning the ignition alone always work for priming i.e do all these engines have an electric pump in the tank.

это бесполезно - насос в баке включается одновременно со стартером, поэтому двигатель долго не заводился.

Why on earth did they put the filter there!! Every diesel I've owned has had the fuel filter sitting level with the top of the engine easily accessible, obviously realising it is a maintenance item that shouldn't be buried. Of course I've never owned anything newer than 2006 so could be a modern thing...
