Join me to find out what a typical life of a Physics PhD student looks like! If you have any questions or video suggestions, please make sure to leave a comment down below!
Thank you for all of the comments so far! I have now created an Instagram page! Follow me @cambridgram (instagram.com/cambridgram)! Also a new video is coming out very very soon!
Your video is amazing! I'm currently studying for a physics degree and I aspire to be able to pursue my postgraduate degree at Cambridge just like you, so your content is very inspiring. It would be great if you tell us your application process and how did you get to the wonderful place where you are (your PhD) :)
I loved this video. Some of us are undergrad physics students, and would highly appreciate if you considered making videos such as "How I studied physics at undergrad" and generally , what propelled you towards attaining your grad studies in Cambridge. I mentioned how to study , more precisely , about the structure you used in learning physics actively. Sadly, most of us aren't taught active learning in school and are more prone to just rote learning.
Hey! Awesome "life of a Physics PhD student" video! Also a fellow Physics PhD student making RUclips content, so small world! Hope to see more videos like this from you!
I am 17 y. old. I am from Germany and in 11 months I am gonna Go to the tu munich and I am gonna study phyiscs for 3 years for my Bachelor degree. After that I wanna Go to Zürich and get there my master degree. And then I am going to try to Go to Cambridge and do my PhD there. And If I got this I am gonna try to become a Professor.
Plz make a video about the physics phD admissions process at Cambridge as an international student (i.e your application and interview) and the steps which you had to do to get here. That'll be great thx.
really loved this video!! I'll be moving to Cambridge soon to start a RA job so it's interesting to see what life is like as a PhD student there, would love to see more vlogs from you 😊
"there were these really cute bunny rabbits :))" followed by "DINNER TIME !" made me cackle 😭 in all seriousness good luck for the rest of your studies !!
Glad to see you handling AuNPs and doing SERS (or other plasmonics). I guess you are under J.B. group. I'm a Ph.D. student in the U.S. doing plasmonics.
There is a universal bus which takes me directly to the Cavendish! It's also a nice walk but a very quick cycle. Cavendish is also slightly away from the 'centre' of town.
As an introvert, is it good to take phd in physics ? im very intrested in learning about universe but my social anxiety is making me depressed. If yes can you suggest me best jobs after taking phd.currently im high school graduate i dont know what to do next.i'd dreamt to be an astronomer since childhood but now my parents complain me that it requires lot social skills like you need to take seminars and present findings at conferences and i couldnt do that. So can you help me to choose right career plz 😭.My dissapointment is immesurable .I've read lot of book of neil d tyson, brian greene, stephen hawking, feynman, brian coxx, lawrence krauss and richard dawkings.
Social skills are something you DEVELOP. Any jobs (not just astronomer requires this skill). Believe in yourself and be strong. You can do it, just take one step at a time and get outside of your comfort zone and don't be afraid to make lots of silly mistakes in social situations (we all do!). Life is short, try it out and see if it works, if not there are lots of other careers that physics majors can do that are not as social (like maybe programming). YOU CAN DO IT!
Please make a video on career opportunities after PhD physics. Is it required to have Programming and Data science knowledge for pursuing PhD physics? Thanks for the video. I completed my Masters in Physics from India. Can you suggest me some domains where there is scope of getting a good job after PhD?
Is an 'A' grade student 'intelligent', or just a very adept copyist? A wonderful box-ticker? Very good at doing as s/he is told? Trying to please their parents? Desperate to be seen as 'superior', or 'wise'? Thinking only about the rewards for ticking the reward givers boxes in the order the reward giver wants them ticked? Subservient through apathy and/or greed? More importantly, would a true intelligence not allow itself a margin of error, just to avoid these possible self-destructive pitfalls? Or at least consider their possibility?

Good presentation.
No time wastage ,no boring
Perfectly captured..
Good luck...
This is a beautiful video! Thank you for sharing and I wish you every success in your studies! :)
omg this vid is so aesthetically pleasing i wanna go to Cambridge for exchange. Im an undergrad from Singapore. Love ur vids 💜
Not sure why I was recommended this but I really like it! Thank you
Looks like you're having a great time! Can't wait to come visit
I get that this is probably really time-consuming, but keep it coming! Was awesome to watch :)
thank you so much!

Thank you so much!! and thanks for the nice suggestion! I might try and put together a video to cover that :)

Great video! Really enjoy seeing fellow physics PhD from around the world. Hope you keep making more videos :)

Best of luck with your studies!! Great to hear that you already have a vision and a lovely plan!
I like your accent. It's slow and flow.
i've seen you around the physics department! found your profile on website and next time going to bump into you hehehe

Great to hear! I'll try to post one very very shortly!
I was privileged to have know Mark Oliphant in my youth in SAust. An ulumini of the Cavendish.

Cool channel, I came here from my RUclips analytics, saying that this video suggests mine.
I am also want to be a astrophysicist . I really want to study in Cambridge. I am from India. Namaste 🙏
Splendid
Please make a video on career opportunities after PhD physics
How do get from Girton to cavendish(bus,Walk or cycle), it’s somewhat detached from the university.
There is a universal bus which takes me directly to the Cavendish! It's also a nice walk but a very quick cycle. Cavendish is also slightly away from the 'centre' of town.
I Love Physics😇😍
inspiring
Hello, I'm also a physics post graduate student. May I ask what is the field you are doing PhD in?
That was a great video :). Out of curiosity, what is your research work on?
motivated me .. thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ i,m from india
I also want to get to Cambridge ...
I want to meet and talk to peoples like you 😭
What topics are you pursuing? Your lab looks like there is some overlapping with biosciences.

Your still young, as you gain experience throughout your studies you will simultaneously gain confidence.
Remember, the struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose.
What's the name of the piano piece playing at 2:40. It's pretty

What physics are you studying? It looked like chemistry.
In which area you are specializing
Is this is a rewarding career
Im an undergraduate physics student
Ma`am your video is really inspiring.May I know if there is Scope for PHD In Biology In Cambridge University
Definitely! There are all sorts of PhD's available at Cambridge
@@MarikaN Thanks a lot ma’am
What's your research project about?
Is it costly to study here ?
What do you want to do after the PhD?
Am still keeping my mind open! Academia, industry, theres so many options.
@@MarikaN How about quant finance
Can you tell me what subjects do you study in physics in the first 3/5 years
You normally don't take any classes in UK PhD courses, and they are usually only 3 (sometimes 4) years long.
@@orangesky8864 That's right! I don't take any courses and rarely anyone in my field/STEM finishes in 3 years anymore!
Hey Marika, Congrats for being admitted to Cambridge. Can you provide your Instagram id or so. I have some doubts regarding the admissions
Hi! I've just made an instagram page!! You can find me at @cambridgram!
