I agree. Upgrading our skills and being up to date is important in IT industry for an employee. Many employees consider this as important and they work on this. My question is employee's are doing what IT company requires but why IT companies are not doing what employee requires ? This question is important to ask because both employee and businesses should do their respective parts in order to grow mutually. This is not happening majorly in india IT companies. We see massive layoffs when IT companies need to protect their profit margins and in-organically grow their business by marketing more. IT is not the only industry which is more successful and affected by economic downturn (recession) in india. We see many successful industries in india that contribute to our GDP growth and they also effected by this economic downturn. But this behavior of doing massive employee layoffs is seen majorly in IT industries but not in other industries. We really need to raise our voice against this type of IT businesses when they perform massive layoffs. This is clearly unethical. We as an individual , also need to explore different options of money making. We should not entirely dependent on one type of Business. Every individual should have a basic idea of supply and demand concepts. In IT Industry, especially in india, Our IT employee supply is way more than demand (Thanks to engineering colleges). This gives IT companies upper hand in hiring and firing the employees whenever they need and improves their business profitability.
