That was one of the best videos I have watched in the last year... Because of the honesty of the perfumer and you. You said it like it should be said for baccarat rouge and Tom ford. And also loved the part when he said niche houses are charging crazy prices for average fragrances at best. The reason niche brands and designers continue to charge more for less is because there is a huge lack of educational material on the internet. Most fragrance collectors aren't the smartest tools in the shed and fragrance houses know that and abuse it. Continue with this type of content please.
Make another video like this: interesting, informative, and a great concept. There is no other fragrance content like this as far as I know. Well done.
I´m a bit perplexed, the price matters to the value of the fragrance if its worthy or not, a 6point fragrance in its complexity and scent profile becomes an 8 due to the price and that makes sense but i´d like to know what Sam considers a 10/10 fragrance and why it is 10/10, what price would make it a lower value and at what price an 8/10 would become a 10/10?
Sam makes a good point here. If you rate a scent 8/10 just because it’s okay or pretty good, that’s misleading. I would say an 8/10 should mean you’d be somewhat happy if you blind bought the fragrance for retail (not that anyone does that).
I have only Amouage Interlude Black Iris from this list, but it's one of the best Amouage that I have(8 in total). It's the best at projection and longevity and it's also original.
@@ksalinas96 I didn't try Reflection 45, but I think (after I checked fragrantica) they're absolutely different type of fragrances. Reflection is more universal, more safety to buy. Interlude Black Iris is true niche, is that type of smell that would fill up a room after 2 spray's , it's dark, strong, manly, a fragrance that increase your testosterone level when you spray it and it's more wearable on cold weather.
@@ksalinas96 100% , Amouage is a true niche house with different type of scents + they're expensive, so better try in a shop or order 1-2 ml decants with the fragrances that you want.
The reason the smell strips are thinner on one end is so they can go in the bottle and are lighter in weight so you can fold the other end and let them stand up 👍🏻
This video came just the right time for me. I've been looking into Voyage d'Hermes recently, adn I've even considered blind buying it. Based on this I think I can delay that purchase, but Voyage will definietly remain on top of my whislist. Maybe I will be able to sample it before next spring/summer (when it is more season appropriate). Hopefully they don't discontinue it unthil then. In the mean while I thin I will get something interesting for winter instead. Thank you for this wondeful video, such an authentic gem in all the "Top ten panty droppers" type of content out there.
This was a fantastic video review, I definitely think you should have a video with us users who love or hate certain fragrances , it would make a really good review video. Keep up the great work Omar.
Hi Omar, great video as usual... I have an idea for a video, if you don't mind. Could you do a video to show similar fragrance that is redundant to have them in my collection. For example as you said if I have the most wanted it is redundant to have stronger with you absolutely.
Hey man, I’ve been watching your videos for a while and they are great. I am new to the fragrance game and was wondering what I should look in to. I am looking for something classy and fresh that has good longevity. Thank you so much! Once again, love your videos!
SWY absolutely is much nicer than the most wanted! It may not be of the same quality as some of the others in the list, but I think this is the best smelling of the bunch!
Sam's naturally going to cop some flak from haters when he dares to rate some perfumes that they love very low. But I want to appreciate his honesty and the blind-smelling format of this video. A lot of reviewers would struggle to identify their favourites if they were asked to do it blind and would get the 'seasonality' of some fragrances wrong too. Our herd mentality bias strongly clouds our opinion whether consciously or otherwise.
nice video, im curious to know what he thinks abt sauvage elixir, eros parfum, ombre leather, le male elixir, haltane, aventus absolute, layton....surely one of the best video prospective ever made
Fragrance is very objective. One man’s meat is another man’s poison. I personally feel that any one can be a fragrance reviewer as long as you can Blab it
Its hard to get past Sam's inconsistencies. Rightly getting flak for prada LHI. As a perfumer price is a massive factor for the creation process. Omar points out the lack of value for ebene fume and i tend to agree on TF fragrances. I think SWYA is well worth its 10/10 at their price point but if it were doubled it would be a hard sell. TBH i would find it very hard to spend more than £100 on a scent
Im not gonna lie... that grading scale bs was aweful in school, why you would use it here just doesnt quite make sense. 😂 But giving everything an 8 would be boring, so fair enough.😅
Fougere doesn't mean barbershop. You're right in that traditional fougeres often smell barbershop, but something like Dior Sauvage is also a fougere, but much more modern and in a completely different style. I probably smelled the fougere note since the prada perfume contains tonka which naturally contains coumarin, a key ingredient in fougeres.
@@sammacer yes I get that. Fougere means fern from my understanding. Indicating a green or coniferous type of smell. I could be wrong but that's how I have learned it. Everyone's nose is different. No offense.
@@SamWayne85 no worries bro it's cool. Yes you're right it does mean fern, however, confusingly it doesn't smell green or coniferous at all. It was an abstract accord named by a French perfumer, but a long time ago when not many accords in perfumery smelled very accurate at all. It now covers a massive range of fragrances similar to how "rock" music is a broad genre but within that there are many things which sound different.
What the heck are you doing to your face man? Keep the beard, it makes you look refined and like you care… shaving off the mustache area and leaving that weird beard just makes you look unkept.
Check out Sam’s first creation for another brand, Amber Shadow, here : st.kckb.st/sammacer
The note breakdown sounds beautiful :)
ordered as well as another offering 👌
Thanks for the link. Just ordered mine.
I need to see you two smell original vs dupes

What are some good fragrance houses worth purchasing from? Providing good value for the quality you pay for
Agreed
dior and chanel and safe choices@@wildprodigy
Sam: *uses perfumer lingo to describe notes*
Omar: *translates*
Would love to see his personal 10/10 fragrances or some of his favourites from his own collection
You guys are both fun and when Sam was talking about his oud perfume he was so down to earth and humble, very fun to watch
I have armani SWY absolutely and it's so good...high projection and high longevity...i love it
Discontinued so stock up
I like Sam. His videos, like Aaron, are always educational. Especially for me who is trying to get into perfumery as a hobby.
lol whipping through the base! love the reference and both your channel and ATH's

Yeaaah... you shouldnt really base your purchase on this other guy. Voyage is an amazing spring summer frag

Thanks bro! 🙌
Our 2 favorite perfumers 😍

I’m glad you made this comment 👀
the voyage d' Hermes review that I've been waiting for
Maybe do a blind rating based on “What is the most you would pay for each fragrance?”
I prefer to dip the tip in, too.

Thank you! I definitely recommend checking our video ‘masterpiece fragrances for mature men’
Very cool format
No fluff and just raw interpretation
How do yall feel about DUA and as far as ingredient quality goes?
thoughts on prada luma rossa carbon?
Awesome. Smoother version of Sauvage EDT.
Good stuff. Keep it going 🎉
Always enjoy your videos sir
Love the video 👌👌👌

Great concept
No hate here! I really like this type of video, please sir, may I have more?
is Sam going to make a fragrance for Atrium?

the amount of hype ebene fume gets is insane. I was quite underwhelmed when I smelled it in store.

He said prada lhomme intense smelled barbershop or fougere in the last video. After that, I can't trust anything he says.

absolutely so low is a hate crime
I don’t get the range 1 to 10. Just make it 1 to 5
Did you guys sniff each other during the video?
👍👍👍
An opinion is an opinion but sometimes I feel like this guy just thinks too much of himself just because
he didn't say anything egotistical nor outlandish lol. he gave an analysis from the pov as a perfumer.
Bro said prada lhomme intense is a 3/10. Yeah turning this video off after that
I didn’t know Andrew Tate was so into colognes
Nothing is a 3/10 or else they wouldnt ship it. This dude literally said a 3 doesnt mean its bad lmao
