My parents are friends with a guy who's house was directly hit by an F5 during the 2011 Tennessee tornadoes. They had no clue it was coming until it was right on them. He was running upstairs to get his family when the house literally disintegrated around him. The stairs he was on detached from the house and flew in the air, spinning, with him on it. He got knocked out and woke up in his yard later with minor injuries. Two family members died, but the rest were ok.
My dad was in the military, and he was jumping with his other military comrades and all of their parachutes failed and out of five people. My dad was the only one alive and had one broken arm, two broken legs, and ribs broken

That’s why he only had that knot on his head. When a person is unconscious, their body is relaxed and limp. This can sometimes reduce the severity of injuries during a fall because tension in the body increases the risk of bone fractures. In an unconscious state, the body absorbs the impact more evenly. Plus he still landed in a grassy field. I learned this story at school in science 😃
