Such a sleek boat with a lovely, aerodynamic frontal area, and she's a very modern looking boat too!
Remarkable interior space and storage, and I particularly like the seating area.
I'm surprised at how fast she flew across the water, it was astonishing!
By the way, I designed the boat in 2003😉
@@ikarus342000 I've always thought your designs look very modern, and they have a unique style that's their own.
@@ikarus342000 where can we find the designs?
Beautiful little cruiser and so fast. Love catamarans. Thanks
Heyyy I love the channel,I just bought sold everything I owned to buy a sailboat to start sailing around the world :) thanks for the inspiration, just made my first RUclips video hahaha
Our next family project. Looks awesome!
Very nice 👍. The next boat I build will be multi hulled and trailer able
Are there anymore new better quality videos of this boat thanks. Walk around/description.
Dear Bernd, for a wile I´m interest to build one ECO 5.5 here in Brasil, what is putting me off is the lack of videos of these catamaran! You design in 2003, how many was build until today? There is any construction group/blog I can see more details or clarify some points? Do you have new videos specially of the new front design ECO 5.5? There is any modifications possible to make the cabin higth a bit lower, Im consearn about the visibility up front. Is it one o 2 draguer board?
Dear Mr. Kohler: let me congratulate you for the design and build. I think is just awesome. I´d love to build one for myself but, I can´t find the plans anywhere. How can I purchase them? Thank you.
You can buy the plans here www.duckworks.com/product-p/bk-eco55snew-id.htm or here ikarus342000.com/ECOpage.html
ikarus342000.org/ECOpage.html or ikarus342000.com/ECOpage.html
This is the link, By the way. Both versions are on the plans, and one with a Gunter ríg
This is the crux today. K-designs is a small company and relays on his clients for videos. The point is that we have tons of pictures of how to build this and other boats. This is a self-build project like all my designs. When you see 1000 videos it will not matter. You like it you build it. The videos will not build the boat
Can I get some contact info for study plans..for a 480 power hull and a 550 . Speed and power predictions too.
Ive looked at a skoota 20 (6 meter) ..these are good speed from low power..25hp 15kts.
Something around 6 meters but no wider than 2.4m for road trailering here in New Zealand.
Your design is very pleasing to the eyes. More than the skoota.
Hello
For the ECO5.5 power cat here the direct link www.ikarus342000.com/ECOmotorboat.htm Speed with 20Hp half power 15 knots three-quart power 18 knots. Whit this boat much experience is available. The boat has proven to be very seaworthy. One sais Alaska, the other hails from the Vancouver area. The boat on the Missipie is very fast (20 hp, 20knots)
Video, construction pictures and a short clip.ruclips.net/video/a2uiNIc1YMI/видео.html
There is a 6m in Auckland sailing around.
wat een snelheid, goed zelf te bouwen.
Zeker weten. Er zijn er vele, ook de ECO 55 power in bouw or zeilen/vaaren
Hi there, are there any videos that show the duo 800s that have been built with a biplane rig and are sailing?
I would like to know the dimensions of the berth and if the boat can be built with a biplane rig as on the "Duo 480". How can I get on the fordeck when I want to moor in a harbor?
Nice little yacht! How fast does she go?
How fast she is, not the criteria. Fast enough to pass all boats around her. More important. The boat points very high. Many boats lack this today. The boat can cope also with bad weather very well. Sister ships sail till Alaska
Very cool, how is she upwind?
The owner reports, with the daggerboard down she points very high.
@@ikarus342000compared to what ?
@@redreuben5260 Any very good monomaran. There are now no catamarans of the same size to compare, so it's simple.
Хорошая конструкция!
So nice! Thx for sharing! :) The INternetlink to Ikarus does no longer exist! Where can i get the plans now? Can you help? kind regards
Again, of course, the web page exists. Here the link ikarus342000.com/ECOpage.html
Gratifying fast. What's its payload capacity?
The payload capacity is 390 kg (860 lb). See webpage ikarus342000.com/ECOpage.html

Make sure you look at the puddle cat design it is assembled and has a similar look to this boat.this on seem to be more sea worthy it would be interesting to build both and compare.
A bit difficult to compare these two. And I am wondering where you see any similarity at all. Besides the ECO 5.5 is a seaworthy coastal cruiser. First built 2003
Bernd Kohler the comment was posted on the wrong video,
Bernd Kohler i was comparing the shape and construction methods, im amazed at the usable area in such compact boats.there is a definite speed difference between them .
Which video you are revering to? Because I have no comparable boat besides the parallel rig boats I design since 1983. I never use lateen sails on parallel rig boats, because there shape can not work in this configuration. Hull cross section, the same, I have no comparable boat. Because of all these disimilarities would you please rectify. Also for your own good ;-)
obrigado
Shouldn't you be making toilets?? j/k Boat looks awesome and fast!.
Why these king of ships are better than a conventional sailboat ? 🤔
They are a lot faster, thus more fun. Besides when built by yourself a lot cheaper
Dear friend! first of all, congratulations for such an amazing project! it looks amazing!
i have a doubt: i have NEVER constructed anything relevant. have basically zero wood skills. am i capable of build the bulkheads and bows? and if so, how? is it clear in the project? is it possible, after i bought the project, to cut it in a CNC machine?
looking forward for the answers, thinking seriously about starting the build! thank you!
Hi. Thanks for your compliments. Yes, the ECO's are nice and easy to build boats. Everybody with the right set of minds and two good hands can (and have) built boats from my drawing board. I design specially for amateur builders. Wood is easy to work with. The glue is the same. The drawings are easy to understand. The manual gives instructions on how to build the parts and, finally, the whole boat. I have a group with over 850 persons building my boats. They help each other. There are thousands of photos of how to build a boat. CNC cutting for the bulkheads is possible. But they
are so easy to draw and cut that it is not worth the extra money.
@@ikarus342000 NICE!! great to know! will i have acces to those groups and photos? :D

Hello, some people want to show off, inform, or whatever and make videos. It is a matter of temperament. Most owners prefer to sail, that sit, without showing off. There are a lot of ECO 5.5 sailing worldwide. The K-designs forum is a typical builder forum, who help each other. With links for more information and a big photo section with over 2000 photos. The K-designs forum is a restricted forum accessible only to people who have at least a study plan to avoid spammers.
There is a very good view from the cockpit towards the bow and horizon. The boat has one daggerboard.
