Christchurch pitch - Hard to bat on first day, then a road Wellington pitch - Flattens out and sometimes take spin Hamilton pitch - Low and slow, some movement early and spin later on
They're all dedicated cricket grounds. If they were one-day or T20 matches Wellington would be at a stadium and when they finally build a new stadium in Christchurch I imagine they'll take the short forms there as well. It's one of the best moves NZ Cricket made to develop specialist test venues, we probably average 5000 a day at a test match so it's nice to have grounds with grass banks and trees around them instead of an empty looking stadium. Cheap to build too because most of the seating is made of grass and dirt
Man I wish they could use the new Christchurch stadium for cricket, it’s being built exclusively for Rugby and Concerts, even has a big stupid roof on it. Hagley oval is nice but it is a little small I must say.
Multi use stadiums just don't work. They have ruined Eden Park for cricket by turning the pitch around. The dedicated cricket venues in New Zealand are just perfect.
None of those venues have drop-in pitches. They're all dedicated cricket grounds. Hagley seams days 1/2 and bounces a lot too. Basin similar, but slower outfield and more inconsistent bounce. Seddon Park is drier and flatter, breaks up on days 4/5.
The point which they mentioned will not happen is now happening lol. England has officially announced that Jacob Bethell is gonna bat at no.3 with pope at no.6
@@jeremydow1432 in this case no .. Tim Southie is def nz one of all time great player ..but def not legend unlike Hadlee .. Hadlee never got dropped once he hit 30 unlike tim who been dropped in all 3 formats once he hit 30
I love how in a matter of probably 3 or 4 days since this was filmed, the analysis is already completely out of date with Cox's thumb and Bethell's promotion into the side and batting three
to be fair, they did end up talking about Pope keeping and Bethell at 3. It's like this little chat was a condensed version of what has actually come to pass.
Would love NZ to have more tests- Our only hope is to be amongst the top 2-3 test teams so other teams will insist on playing us and their fans will want to watch.
This isn’t a serious question is it? Same reason everyone struggles away, away conditions are different, the hosting team will know the conditions, prepare the pitch for the team or the team for the pitch, not warmed up, weather, travelling does everyone in, home crowd advantage etc it’s the same in every sport and tbh it’s magnified in cricket as the pitches and conditions are so important to how the match plays out.
I think if, England plays Jacob Bethel he would be suitable at 4 and not at 3 I like him very much but I think they had to used him smartly an he is a smart bowler has well talent!!
Stokes really needs to up his batting game to shut these critics up, ex pros and people in the know all understand how good he is but the stat idiots who don’t actually know cricket just say his average is 30 odd so he’s crap. Saying that, he should score more, for me he’s playing too defensively, especially these days unless your defence is nearly perfect there is always a ball with your name on it, he’s always at his best when he’s aggressive, like when he opened vs West Indies, you’re going to get out anyway, just try and apply pressure to the bowlers and go hard, it’s not like you’re opening, he’s low enough down the order to just be aggressive and give it a go rather than get out defending which he seems to constantly.
Well no, they don't. But Australia and India are different conditions to the UK, and Australia and India have better players most of the time. NZ have a very good side at the moment, but historically haven't been as strong. And NZ conditions are similar to what the England players are used to. It's a reasonable question to ask imo.
As a Kiwi...I think England will do well. Williamson lacks time in the middle...Conway terribly out of form...Southee...no longer a.real threat...Jamison is injured.
Conway is not horribly out of form. He regained some of it in India. He’s certainly not in vintage form, but he’s getting there. Kane has a habit of being injured and immediately scoring on his return.
England have had no first class / test cricket for a while. They will lose 2 to 1. The reality is that the modern cricketer cant last 5 days (except for weather issues)

This early? Spin is useless.
Why are the pitches 'drop in' ??

@@HunterHH25 small lol, it is one of the largest test playing outfields in the world, FAR bigger than any English test ground.
I still remember watching Tim Southee's debut against England. Five-for in the first innings and then 70 odd off not many balls in the second.
Pity we lost.

Yes, l dont understand that either.

Eden park day nighter was…. Six years ago?

I don't think there will be any "drop in pitches" served up on this tour.
Stokes is the man at no.3.
Be nice if Southee could take 15 wickets for the 400.

Newzealand only has 1 drop in pitch. That's at eden park
