Thanks. Im actually taking the muffler off and running open headers custom made. I'll have a video of that up im the next week or so. I also put on a zero gravity black out windscreen.
It's not terrible on the engine. You're following the old no back pressure is bad on motors myth. They make more power unrestricted. My buddy had drag pipes on a x1 and had it tuned before and after the exhaust build and put more hp and tq down after the open headers and ran that way for a long time with no problems. I have drag pipes on it now and it still burns rich.
I put a hard 100,000 miles on my BSA Lightning with straights. Not a single problem except being pulled over when doing excessive speed runs. At night, you could see the blue flame it shot out passed the back tire. This is a cool bike. Don't drop it.
Craig Pennington it was later tuned. Blew the transmission at 9k miles. Had it fixed and sold it. Won't ever own another Harley product again. Although it was fun for the torque and cornering, the Harley motor and trans not a good thing for thrashing on
@@jonnymac8925 factory muffler bands kept breaking. Eventually went to straight pipe drag headers because got tired of paying for the bands. Other than that just tires. Lot of torque, no traction control so it likes to spin and wheelie. Defiantly have to run a stickier tire

A couple years ago I talked to the manager of a big European cycle store, he said the xb12x was his favorite bike of all time and he put 160,000 miles on it with no problems. I wonder why your transmission failed, first time I heard of that on a Buell perhaps one of the parts had a random flaw, or maybe you're talking about really being hard on it and thrashing it, slamming gears popping the clutch speed shifting all the time? Doing wheelies by snapping the clutch out?
