I straightpiped my 2009 fireball X fireball XB12R and it runs like absolute garbage. The low end torque is totally fine but when I give it full throttle it spits and sputters and craps out and doesn't want to run good, you think I need a tune? Or the o2 censors are just taking there time to adjust and make it run right. Also I don't want to burn the valves or hurt the motor. Any ideas?
These race bullets are pretty much just straight pipes. Doesn't hender sound so what you're hearing is deleted resonator, stock manifolds and straight pipe out from the catys
Craig Pennington it was later tuned. Blew the transmission at 9k miles. Had it fixed and sold it. Won't ever own another Harley product again. Although it was fun for the torque and cornering, the Harley motor and trans not a good thing for thrashing on
@@jonnymac8925 factory muffler bands kept breaking. Eventually went to straight pipe drag headers because got tired of paying for the bands. Other than that just tires. Lot of torque, no traction control so it likes to spin and wheelie. Defiantly have to run a stickier tire
@@lemenscody interesting. A couple years ago I talked to the manager of a big European cycle store, he said the xb12x was his favorite bike of all time and he put 160,000 miles on it with no problems. I wonder why your transmission failed, first time I heard of that on a Buell perhaps one of the parts had a random flaw, or maybe you're talking about really being hard on it and thrashing it, slamming gears popping the clutch speed shifting all the time? Doing wheelies by snapping the clutch out?
I put a hard 100,000 miles on my BSA Lightning with straights. Not a single problem except being pulled over when doing excessive speed runs. At night, you could see the blue flame it shot out passed the back tire. This is a cool bike. Don't drop it.
The Car Kid it was straight piped from the manifolds to the mini race bullets. not sure the model number but they were 3" in and 3" out about 6" long if I remember correctly
TheNightsWatchman, Sorry, last question lol. When you put in the bullets, did you have to add any piping or did they fit right in? It looks like the Dynomax bullets are shorter than the factory mufflers
Mike E no open road vids. it was pretty damn loud riding it. not horrible but defiantly wanted a helmet with good padding to help keep the noise down. Cars would never pull out in front of me it was so loud.
LOL holy shit, that is bad ass dude. My dad had an 99 x1 lighting, loved riding on the back as kid such sweet bikes. I really do like buells, yeah they arent made anymore but they are pure american bad ass bikes. I am considering buying a xb9s. They around on craigslist here and there.
Mike E I'd go with a xb12, the 9s aren't as torquey. the 12r I could wheelie easy with it. Wasn't as fast as my r6 but wad a ton better in the corners.
No shit? the 12 you say huh. I just might have to then. it would be my first streetbike ever. I have been riding dirt bikes for a long time, I never made the time to buy one when I got older. But for commuting and for play around my city they are fun, I live in Reno,Nevada, so there are tons of places to ride to and tons of moto events happening. Street vibes, Virginia city, lake tahoe, ride to san fran, tons of choices. My dad has a 17 road glide, and a 17 klr650.
Mike E if you haven't ridden much on street on bigger bikes I wouldn't get the 1200 then. they spin the back tire easy especially with not high end tires. the 9r would be a great starter bike and can always upgrade to the 12 later. the 12 will get you in trouble quick with the high torque output and light weight. people tend to lay them down because of spinning the tire or wheeling and losing control for an un experienced street rider. I used to race dirt bikes and going from dirt to street was freaky and takes a while to adjust too. good luck on your search. I blew the tranny on that bike at 9k miles btw....something to think about when it comes to Harley parts. they're not the greatest for holding up to hooligan stuff. putting around they're not bad but if you're slamming gears, wheeling etc it will be a matter of time before something breaks. if you want the utmost reliable bike looming a Yamaha etc. super motards are a blast to drive and you can punish them.
TheNightsWatchman sorry should've been more specific. I'm buying the Dynomax 39496 Exhaust System Kit this coming weekend. Was wondering if you had long tube headers or anything else. I love this sound that's why I was asking.
AJ Martin oh no just stock manifolds. it was loud enough to not need headers but I wasnt racing it. the dash cracked and the ac compressor went out at 50k miles. should of kept my 4th Gen!
Bike would lose tq and hp without a tune every ecu self adjusts to an extent but does not adjust enough for an open header no back pressure with out tune equals loss in low end tq and horsepower may sound cool but ur only hurting the bike and causing it to run lean
bear creek. it's just the nature of the 7.5" they're severely over gassed. I have it fixed now. I drilled and tapped into my a2 sight and made it adjustable gas. runs like a champ
I've never had it on a dyno but a buddy has had one and has done pulls stock vs his same open headers and gained a couple horsepower before tuning. This bike has the self adjusting ecm. The take off to me is actually more responsive and more responsive over all compared to the stock muffler.
It's not terrible on the engine. You're following the old no back pressure is bad on motors myth. They make more power unrestricted. My buddy had drag pipes on a x1 and had it tuned before and after the exhaust build and put more hp and tq down after the open headers and ran that way for a long time with no problems. I have drag pipes on it now and it still burns rich.
Thanks. Im actually taking the muffler off and running open headers custom made. I'll have a video of that up im the next week or so. I also put on a zero gravity black out windscreen.
Has anyone run a valve switch on their two wheels ?
hi for which town , and name of this lake please ? ty in advance
Wash ur hands before the real deal. 😂 Congratulations!

I lost all low power doing that
nice bike dude 🏍🤘
I see you've added the right leg heat shield. I had a line of blisters on my leg and ordered one ASAP.

It sounds like my old cement mixer but I love it
Did you loose horse power with open headers? Have a xb12r myself.
Just sounds like every other Harley engine...nothing special; no real unique tone to it.
But on a crotch rocket. Lol
Sounds like a diesel tractor tbh
This ain’t it chief
Looks like a muffler to me. Maybe a gutted one🤔?
心地よい鳥🦜の囀ずりからの爆音⚡👂⚡。
WOW that sounds badass nice bike
Would u say this is louder than a x pipe and a muffler delete? Debating between this one and the magnaflow bullet..
These race bullets are pretty much just straight pipes. Doesn't hender sound so what you're hearing is deleted resonator, stock manifolds and straight pipe out from the catys
can't believe you rode it like that. I got a jardine on mine and that's loud enough
<3 that sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was a fun bike until the transmission grenaded
Absolutely lose a little on the bottom end, but my firebolt (open pipes) sounds like a monster n I love it
After a proper tune she ran better than stock
Hell yeah!!! I have an 04 Firebolt with open pipes and 40,000 miles on it. Awesome thru tunnels. Loud as hell, ,
P.S. That idle is a bit high. It should do great @&700 RPM.

100k? Cool.
Mine at 40k km (25k miles)
Is the motor that reliable?
if i may ask what is the part number for the mini race bullets ? hoping to cope this sound on my car!
That.... that sounds amazing... Exactly which dynomax bullets are you running? just the mufflers or an axleback?
The Car Kid it was straight piped from the manifolds to the mini race bullets. not sure the model number but they were 3" in and 3" out about 6" long if I remember correctly
Did you keep the cats?
The Car Kid ah ya it had the cats on.
Thanks! Awesome car!

Get the ST-T3
