One officer was more interested in my ‘nice apartment’ than the threatening behaviour, it’s so disheartening no doubt many resign themselves to this being the way life will be until the stalker moves on. Women’s Aid are very helpful. I pray more laws are brought in to protect - not just brought in but enforced.
Instead of punishing channels for ridiculous stuff, youtube should implement ways to quickly and swiftly punish channels who do clickbait or use deceiving tactics to bring clicks and views. As a matter of fact, any media that uses these tactics should get punished. Real journalism should be about the truth and the truth only; not about clickbait, lies, deception, etc

I would argue that the criminal justice system is not always the best route for dealing with this issue. Many are mentally ill, but due to the chronic underfunding of mental health services in the NHS, they can't access the help, treatment and medications required to treat their illness.

Anyway the reason why there is only 1.7% convictions because when you go and report stalking to the police they won't accept it unless you're threatened or harmed, which in that case it's too late. Myself, I had to go 2 times and on the 2nd time I had to argue with the lady officer. She asked me what do I feel and if she ever threatened me or If I feel my life is threatened. I said now I don't feel threatened but that's the reason I am here to prevent that from happening. And she was speechles. When finally I had a call from an officer I was told the best option is for them to refer me to restorative justice as although I documented everything and I have some footage it was still going to be hard to take the case to court. So I accepted but unfortunately when it comes to RJ, both parties have the right to refuse or change their mind. So she was called by the police she accpeted to take part in RJ but when RJ reached out to me they said that they couldn't engage with her so they have to put the referral aside and update the police. So now am still waiting for the police to contact me.

My Niece finally got rid of her violent and controlling partner with the help of family friends, (after the police and courts had been impotent) about 3 months before the lockdown began. At that point, he became homeless. A few weeks into lockdown, after her ex partner had been picked up several times for anti social behaviours in and around their town, one night at 11.30am, two police officers brought him to my Niece's home and told her she had to take him in, that this was the address he'd given when arrested, etc etc, and when she tried to explain that he had been making threats to her and her children's lives, they told her to "stop being a drama queen" and left him there with her. As she lives in Llanelli, it took us three hours to get there and forcibly remove him from her house, during which time he had started to drink and move furniture around to his liking. Nothing really bad had happened, but it could have, and she was terrified when we got there.
