It would be despicable for the humans to kill Wilbur. He's a special pig. Surely Mr. Zuckerman should realize he is not the kind of pig who should be killed for meat. His niece raised him, named him, treated him as her pet, and even still regularly visited him after he took him in. I was always surprised none of the humans (except Fern) saw anything wrong with raising him for meat. Of course they did end up sparing him, but it took Charlotte's messages and winning the medal at the fair for the adults to finally see how important Wilbur was.
