No doubt. And it served as a template for other spy shows, like Alias, for example. But Nikita from Peta is unmistakable and irreplaceable. Thank you for the comment. :)
Still my fave show ever. When they cancelled it at the end of Season 5, I remember the uproar with die hard fans. After many letters, yes, letters - we the fans got our wish to tidy up the ending. I loved the message boards for the show. Met some amazing people online. Oh when times were so much more simple.
With all due respect, the original Nikita show is unmatchable. It's dark eerie tone and looks, the extreme sociopathic coldness of the environment of Section 1, and Nikita's struggles to preserve her Humanity in that environment. Every episode was like a little masterpiece, the plots so intelligent often raising issues of philosophy and of complex geopolitics. Section 1 was so formidable that they actually had no true enemies, so most of the power struggles were internal, with Operations wanting to get rid of Michael because he is a rival for his post, but at the same time having some fatherly admiration and concern for him. And of course, the endless romantic and sexual tension between Michael and Nikita. The original Nikita was not just a show, but a *cult style* all of it's own. The 2010 remake seems to me like that: a remake. Sure, they had better special effects because the budget was larger and technology got better. But they cannot match the *style* of the original...the darkness, the tone, the fantastic characters. And above all, the intelligence of the plots. The remake tried to make it more realistic with the kind of stuff that actually goes on in intelligence agencies, but most of the plots seemed like just boring grunt work. The original had plots and villains a little bit more fantastical, but the logic of the plots was always sound and very smart, like the arch around the "Gellman Process", or the battle on season 3 between Operations and George where they try to outwit and kill the other. Percy is just not as interesting as Operations. Amanda comes across as just a shady bureaucrat, while Madeline comes across as a machine. The show was a masterpiece.
I agree. I actually watched Nikita, the newer one, first, then went backwards. I was blown away by Roy and Peta's chemistry on screen. Michael is not great in the newer series and lacks the raw energy and sensuality Roy plays here. Now that I have seen La femme, I can't return to the newer Nikita.. I love the fashion in this one too. It's timeless. And don't get me started on the amazing soundtrack..
Still my favorite show of all time, currently re-watching it. I am a straight man but just in awe of how handsome Roy Dupuis was. Peta Wilson was gorgeous too, but I've just never seen any other man as handsome as Dupuis.
Been rewatching it for the past week or so. Currently three episodes into Season 2. Roy Dupis as Michael is cold and unfeeling. He makes a soulless assassin look good. Perfect role for a killer imprisoned by a clandestine intelligence organization.
@@Flashback_Jack Michael strikes me as someone who feels but tries to shut down and bottle his feelings. He set Nikita free because he loved her and and was distraught when she was gone. Of course then he was cold when she returned, suggesting he just liked how she made him feel, without concern for her feelings.
It was my favorite show of all time. I even liked it more than Seal Team. To bad Peta Wilson refused to sign a contact for season 6. She made a big mistake career wise. She wanted to leave to take a movie roll. The shows producers said "no." So she screwed her own career by not renewing her contract. What a shame.
It's true. But Peta will be ever a muse, besides being a great actress. And the show will always be on TV and streaming to show that and win new fans like us. Thanks for the comment. :)
eh.....I don't know. The series was definitely beginning to fray by that time. The early episodes are untouchable but even when it was less than stellar......it was still good if you know what I mean.
Sorry, it was a typing error. The number is inverted. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix this in the video. However, it seems that RUclips is slowly releasing a feature that allows you to put a reservation in the video correcting. If it's released, I'll use it to tag with a correction. Thanks for helping. :) Keep following us, please. So we improve every day.
i just watched this original on amazon. O M G! that nikita-peta & michael-roy were w/o a doubt the hottest looking assassin spies who had the on fire chemistry together, the others who i have also watched before seeing this one & there is NO competition. she was absolutely flawlessly beautiful & he is as handsome as he is cool acting! the others pale in comparison.
A few noticeable missing ones, though this is good. Like George - big character missing, along with Elena and the kid (now an adult I hope!). Or.. Max Caulfield. But what about Bruce Payne aka Jurgen? He was only an underrated villain in Passenger 57, and he actually played the role of Kell in the Adrian Paul/Christopher Lambert Highlander Movie. Fun fact... I believe Highlander: The Series was winding on, but on just before La Femme Nikita in the US on I think it was TNT or USA Network. Oh - and before Peta was Nikita, she was in one (or a couple) of those old Highlander the Series episodes too as an inspector!
Very good work here! I have the full set of DVDs now but used to watch them on Canadian TV back in the late 90's. The leads were all so unbelievably young and beautiful. Thanks for putting this together.
Up to a few years ago I still saw the guy that played Walter wandering around Toronto, and I believe Matt Ferguson has a house on Center Island. Also saw Anais Granofsky once on the subway with a few young kids in tow.
@@maxinearnold8812 That was around twelve years ago. Francks died in 2016. He looked exactly the same in real life as he did on the show--the bandana included.
I loved this show as well. Who cried like me when Nikita’s father was shot in the last episode and the scene in the airport when Nikita said goodbye to Michael to run Section 1? Gets me every time 😢. I tried to watch the new Nikita with Maggie O (both run on FreeVee continuously) but the new one just doesn’t hold up to the Canadian version.
I miss this show. It was fantastic, almost the best spy series ever (sorry but remington steele is still on top). Peta Wilson was so lovely and Dupuis' acting was fascinating.
Great series but whoever's narrating this should get his facts right. He's mispronouncing so very many words and names, including a different pronunciation from what is actually in the series!

I am still to this day a hard core fan. So much so that while others were watching shows that came after La Femme Nikita (Alias, Maggie Q’s La Femme Nikita, etc…) I would not watch any of those shows. I just couldn’t. It’s like comparing diamonds to cubic zirconias. I know there are better analogies but you all get the gist of it 😂😂😂Long Live La Femme Nikita! 💜🙏🏽🥰🤓
You forgot to mention the rebooted Nikita series starring Maggie Q that came on The CW in (2010-2013) way after the phenomenal USA Network TV series in the 90s.
I'm confused. How can Alberta Watson be 24 in 1997 (timestamp 1:32) but be 60 yrs old in 2015? I think you may mean that Alberta Watson was 42 in 1997 and died at the age of 60 in 2015. I'm just saying....I know for a fact that she could not have been 20-anything back in 1997!
Anne Parillaud's La Femme Nikita and your American remake Point of No Return (with Bridget Fonda) are in our plans too. Give a chance for the La Femme Nikita TV series, pal. It's an excellent series. Thanks for your comment. :)
The TV series was far superior to either of the movies, or to the Maggie Q version. The production value (especially in the CGI) doesn't hold up very well in 2022 but the show was more watchable than any of the other movies or shows. This video gives Peta Wilson a lot of credit for this but without Roy Dupuis' Michael I don't think this show would have become what it did.
they really were two different animals. The movie was great. The tv series was based on the merest skeleton of that movie and great in its own way. Check it out with an open mind Hans 🙂
Love this show forever. Hands down one of the best spy tv series ever created. Hard to believe LFN is turning 25 this year.
We loved Nikita too! And we still will love it 25 years from now!

Watch The Americans. Gives it a serious run for its money.

yes PaulWolfe their untouchable beauty was certainly a factor in the show's success. Like Greek Gods.
Dupwee is how Dupuis is pronounced.
Yes!!! The narrator's mispronunciation is not only excruciating, it proves he never saw a single episode
