Those ICT’s will definitely make it run better. I ran the same carb and dizzy combo on my old engine, did the same tricks as you did and it ran almost perfect.
Not sure if i got lucky, really had nothing to loss trying it.( I had exrta jets on hand) Drill my friends Idle and main jets on his PICT 34 with 009 dist. .The issues were flat spots & motor would just fall on it's face in 2nd gear. After increasing both had no issues it runs strong. Somewhere in my garage i have the number drills in a zip lock bag that i used again Matt no rresearch just mic the number drills went for it..

I put a Hot Spark SVDA distributor in my Thing and it was like a new car over the 009, much more driveable.

Nothing but problems with empi carb offerings. Total waste time and money. Chinese carb on German cars, what could possibly go wrong😂
