@@The_Mem A good point to consider is that the only way I can envision them being frozen like that is if Marcy had informed them, and they ended up frozen alongside her. However, it's likely that she got frozen before they were even born.

Not sure if it's intentional. But I like to think that the brief red outlines of Simon is his old self trying to break through. And killing Marceline was the last thing needed to completely crush the man that was Simon Petrikov and usher in the Winter King.
I like near the end with Winter King in tears as he kills or accidentally kills Marcelina. Likely arguing with him that he needs to fix things, PB, but as some can tell you? There is no greater fear of someone pulled from Hell then being told by someone they love that they have to go back to it.
I remember someone pointing out that part of Ice Kings insanity is the love he felt for Betty. By removing his insanity that would also mean removing Simons love for certain people in his life. Which is why even though Winter King is free of his insanity he’s still not Simon

@@alexthedemon2203 Yep, although the series doesn't pay attention to it, basically 40% of OOO for 100 years ended up consumed by ice and candy, all of the citizens of candy and Neddy (PB's brother) are dead (being the only reason why PB remained alive and sane) and Marceline (and maybe Finn and Jake, since the GrassLands are also affected) are dead. O.O.
Ouu, the way WK first realizes he's lucid and goes to check up on PB but sees that she's now insane instead make me think that it's almost accidental, like Ice King cast a spell and didn't know what it entailed since you know how he is the show. If IK was in the same state of insanity with similar if not the same events happening in their timeline until he turned into WK, then that spell most likely was cast on accident with WK realising he could finally move on from insanity and leave PB the way she was.
It's crazy to think of the possibility that Winter King actually killed the adult Marceline, and then replaced her with a young living ice sculpture. It certainly makes sense. If Marceline found out about his deeds and tried to stop him, (which would make him insane again) then the Winter King might really kill her. Replacing her with a younger, less rebellious copy. After all, Winter King is one of the most powerful magic users we have seen. So, the price of sadness and madness must be correspondingly high, to justify that. Making this a very plausible backstory for Winter King.
Holy crap this is so good, I love how you draw expressions! The part with Winter King and Marceline gave me chills, especially at 1:15 , the framing/angle is so ominous yet tragic! Really well done!
I gotta say, the saddest thing to see or one of them was the little Marceline. In just 2 scenes. One where she is happy and the next she is nothing but a puddle.
This is super well made, and in a way shows that the Winter King is far past what our Ice King's insanity developed into. Because at least our Ice King never wanted to hurt anyone, ever. But Winter King was willing to let Princess Bubblegum suffer a century of insanity if it meant he was able to be "sane". Not to mention Winter King's willingness to get rid of any opposition.... aka Marceline

Actually my favorite video on the internet ever!?!?! I saw this on Instagram and went absolutely nuts over it once already and now I get to see it again!!! Seriously the song choice fits so perfectly with the story going on, and there's so so much emotion and expressiveness in how you draw, it is truly amazing! I love how the winter king looks talking to the candy queen, it's like he's trying to explain his actions to a little kid who doesn't understand, also I love the super long hair on winter king! The part with Marceline is so tragic and sad in literally the best way possible!! Marcy's face when she's frozen is so spooky and chilling (pun fully intended) and winter king loos so devastated and heartbroken about it!?!? Like, I wish something like this was in the show, it would have fleshed out the Winter King and his story so much! To be fair it might have been harder to tap into that since the aspects of his sadness and strong emotions that are wgat make Simon Simon get taken into PB. Like how Simon loves Betty but we see him seem notbto care about her anymore....implies that his insanity was tied very deeply into his sadness at people in his past which is why his insanity in pb made jim have less deep emotions. Though it would have been neat to see if naybe he did deeply grieve for a second whike connected him to his original insanity in pb for a second before winter king actively chose to avoid thinking of the past to not risk the insanity coming back.
I like what I’ve seen a couple other people have said around here. Winter King isn’t Simon, he’s just the sane version of Ice King. I think that especially gets represented well here, with the red flashes of Simon as if he’s trying to break through.

there is a theory that WK isn't really Simon, but Ice King with sanity. And with Simon's memories, so he knows who Betty is. But doesn't feel the same about her as our Simon. And I think that's because he wasn't there, he's not the one who loved her. But ice Marcie he created hints what she was important enough for him to make an ice replica. And that's because Simon met Marcie after crown's madness started affecting him, so the WK's personality was probably born around that time, so he remembers Marcie and feels connection with her, because he was there
It's such an interesting idea for a character to essentially have the memories and the memory of feelings, but be so completely detached to them. Like Winter King crying with the blank expression, or seeing nothing wrong with making an Ice Marcy, just seeing it as a way to make it better in his eyes. Its like being an alright person, but put of happenstance rather than any degree of care or morals.
Lovely animation, makes me wonder if the spell was purely intentional, or done by accident and he just loved being the Winter King so much he refused to go back, even with the price of Bubblegum becoming insane. Also makes me think this whole world might be the result of Marceline wishing Ice King wasn't insane anymore to Prismo, which went its natural Monkey's Paw route. Given how 3/5 worlds we saw were result of wishes(Baby World was made by BMO, Dead World by the Lich, Farm World by Finn.) it stands to reason that was why things went differently here.
even though Marceline is frozen she wouldn't die from the ice pierced in her stomach since I am pretty sure they reveal that she has the ability to heal herself from anything such as sunburn, poison, and cut wounds or the fact she's an immortal cause of it since she ate the soul of a vampire (im guessing he was) that has the ability to heal themselves but freezing her in ice would work until became dust. aside from that, this video is amazing and fits the Winter King in my point of view especially when he gives Marceline the stare when it goes "Tell me, do you demons Bleed", was just perfect for him.

@@clarisacalderon9555hi this reply is two weeks late but :3 the way i make sense of it is that in the episode “betty”, the crowns magic was still technically present, just absorbed into bella noche. meanwhile in the winter kings case, all of the crowns magic was removed instantly. hoping i managed to explain it properly i wrote this while extremely tired hsshsh
Some people speculate over WK possibly killing or freezing Marcy, you doubled down on the angst by having her frozen right as she was impaled- meaning she might not of been fully dead before freezing.

I remember the Ice King trying to cast a spell to control PB's heart but created Ricardio instead from his. Maybe something like that happened here.
