Jimmy will go down as the best pacer in test cricket history. Impossible for any other pace bowler to come close to his prolonged excellence, longevity and fitness levels. True GOAT 🐐! 🍺
I understand the decision to retire him, but I’d have like to see him get the 3 Windies test matches to pass Shane Warne and then let him retire the first Sri Lanka test in August at his home ground old Trafford. Taking the winning wicket bowling from his end.
But Atkinson bowled well.
Also if you’re going to pick woakes at Trent bridge you may aswell have kept Anderson. Cos Anderson is a better bowler than Woakes.
The new English team looks more potent, with the likes of smith & Atkinson in the mix.
They may have found a Travis head/ Rishab pant type ice-veined basher & a Jimmy replacement already. Top order still feels weak, one of Pope/Duckett/Crawley need to give way for a classy consistent player.
