Thank you for this. I have worked on a few hundred or so phones over the years, mainly for myself and friends/family. But each phone is a new experience. It is sooooo unbelievably easy to make such a simple mistake and mess the phone up worse than it is. So these type videos really help. This was actually one of the much easier phones to work with.
You're welcome. Glad it helped :)
@@PBKreviews I bought a Motorola "turbo charge" cable, $8, solved any/all problems. Kinda figured that was it, still have fairly old motorola phones that charge in case I need old photos or... never had a battery go bad yet.
Thank you so much! my little one put the sim card in the sim card hole thingy and with this video i was finally able to get it out and my phone works! :)
Besides the difficult repairing, motorola has been making some great budget phones. The naming schemes are confusing as all hell but still decent phones.
Yea wish they would simplify the labeling of the names and models etc.
I know some people seem to think the Moto G Power is mediocre in some ways but I honestly don't see anything wrong with it other than the fact it is somewhat heavy. But that is good in a way considering the 5000 mah battery. Mine is the Verizon one and it came with a little bit of bloatware but it was all uninstallable without having to turn to ADB to force the bloatware out (it even works on apps you could normally not uninstall or disable). Before I got it the phone I had was a flip phone with seemingly no apps available to speak of. It was what they call a "feature phone". They should call it what it is and that is a basic phone. By comparison even cheap mediocre smart phones were better in some ways. Once with that old flip phone I tried sending my mother a 3 MP image (2 MB at the absolute most) from a place I was at and it took 20 minutes not counting the time I spent hunting for a questionably usable signal! Any modern smartphone would send that same image a lot quicker and easier from the same spot! 20 minutes! I was thinking you must be kidding me, this is taking forever! That was sometime in August of this year too by the way.
I really liked your video and method for showing us what to do.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for an excelent video. Before re-gluing the back, either with oem tape or T-7000, is it necessary to remove the old tape from both surfaces? If so, what would you use for removal?
Yes, you would need to remove the old adhesive on both surfaces to make sure you get a good seal with the new adhesive. You can use isopropyl alcohol to help loosen up the adhesive or you can just try peeling it off etc. Here is a link for some if you need : www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/iFixit-Adhesive-Remover/IF145-400?o=3
@@PBKreviews Thanks!
do you know how to increase the reception for this phone?
Are there other tools I can use like DIY tools instead of buying the tool set?
Geez lets make another moto without a number. Customers always getting confused lol. Also I'm jealous your videos look so amazing XD very good quality!
Thanks! and yea I hate how they do these confusing things.
Great and helpful video. I'm about to replace lcd on my wife's phone
Thanks!
I'm just hear because the back covers adhesive is not sticking anymore and it's annoying and sadly I don't have adhesive, and I also don't know where to get some and how to even re apply adhesive is there a right way to put the adhesive back on?
This was a good teardown, although i have a question. Which part hold the internal memory, is it the motherboard or some random chip within the phone? If so lets say hypothetically speaking you'd swap the part that holds the internal memory to a different phone of the same type, and lets say the part being swapped already had images. So if the part was swapped to a different phone of the same type would it keep the images in the internal memory?
The storage chip is soldered onto the board under one of the shields. Someone with expert soldering skills would technically be able to de solder off the storage chip and solder it onto another same model phone motherboard and it should retain the images etc. I personally don't have the skills necessary to do a job like that.
i bought the nblacl shark 3 pro and both of the batteries are completly dead, they need to be replaced are tou able to provide this service thank you :)
Thanks
You're welcome
Thank you for this thorough video! I successfully replaced my charging board. However I'm having trouble now with my network connection.
It says no service most of the time. It will randomly connect but when I placed a call they weren't able to hear me then connection lost.
I tried my daughter's sim card (same carrier) in my phone and it didn't work either.
There are only 3 things I can think that could have happened....I damaged something with the heat when removing the cover, damaged something when trying to replace the speaker over the board (was a little trickier than I thought it would be) or that one screw on the outer edge that I lost and figured wouldn't matter.
Any suggestions?
Hi, did you make sure you got the exact same version of the sub board/charger port board for your phone. Since different region variations may have different antenna configurations on the sub board causing issues like this. Also aftermarket ones might not be as good quality. You can check this website, they carry oem original parts for this phone, if you scroll down you will see the sub board/charger port board and see there is 2 of them available. Don't be fooled by the pics since one of them they have pictures from the front, the other from the back. Main thing is to notice how the model number on one has a -1 after it. Meaning the different region version. Check to see what your model number on your phone exactly is and if there is a -1 or a -2 or any other number after it so you make sure you buy the correct model variant charger port board. Aside from that, the only other thing it can be is if you didnt screw down the sub board to make sure the pins touch the antenna points on the frame, or the coaxial wire cables aren't connected properly or the top and bottom plastic covers aren't seated properly etc. www.mobiledefenders.com/motorola-repair-parts/g-series/g-power-2021-xt2117.html?
My phone isn't connecting to the wifi and I'm not sure what to do. I shook it and managed to get a low wifi connection but then it went away. Any suggestions?

Ty for this great video. The mic of my phone stopped working (I tried all the methods to discard software problems), so do you know which is the hardware piece that should be changed?
You're welcome. You would need to replace the bottom sub board/charger port board that the mic is located on. Here is a link, make sure you select the right model version for your phone: www.ebay.com/itm/144653649972?hash=item21ae078834:g:QH4AAOSw~qli2QC5&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8N2LDPuoDFe6SgWREcsnDNTkN%2BjcfUnrUVoih3f8ouhpmKSnzjG6Z1nn1QMVDCvOh3JiwZI5OdznDR9A%2BfHMU19NDhKsSxUVms0F1S%2F3au1mUuuxIoPBQSYLqwk%2ByStsLv%2Bq4WymDnWez%2BeZRMNAjFUqiuAmmRr%2B1fgjnltqZrAuiHEVnAJJ%2F2WQXfnvc%2FRAiDrgz%2FN2AnYnSV94Lwqs2H2TfrlcMaW7HyuCzU5Tj2p3gdxZW%2BtmBwRW3joHcpovg3nIgrcLM%2FxXcwkFQPnJTD8syF7mt1ziJ8qbmxPFZGKg6l0poeGB9BvTTIOnq7MwYw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6j097vdYA
Hi PBK reviews, just want to ask if you can share what camera or what teardown setup you are using on this video?
Hi, It's a Sony 4K Handycam. For the setup I used a mix of items but some of the stuff were amzn.to/3d7s40W and amzn.to/3gKnHuN and amzn.to/2SWcs9A
Can you replace the charger input on it?
Nice
Thanks
i have that phone and im saving for a soldering iron and i coulf use this to add more
Does anyone know where I can find a new screen for this phone? I have this one but my screen is now shattered and I can't find a replacement anywhere.
here is a link for the screen amzn.to/3uryVby
2:14 the thermal pad sinks heat from the LED flash module into the motherboard
True, but haven't seen them put a shield under the pad before like that. I'm pretty sure there is a chip or something covered by that shield. Usually all they would do would be to put a thicker thermal pad from just the board to the flash or design the flash board to sit out more to cover the gap. Also I have never seen them use a gold colored shield before.
the finger sensor on mine is getting really hot the second i power it up, any ideas?
What do you need to do to replace the rear square camera, flash glass.
Just heat up the square glass portion with a hair dryer and pry it off with a thin razor or something similar. Its held on with adhesive. You can find both the replacement glass and the replacement adhesive at this website, they sell both the entire assembly with camera frame or just the glass if you scroll down: www.mobiledefenders.com/motorola-repair-parts/g-series/g-power-2021-xt2117.html?
are there cell antenna booster
I've suddenly had connectivity issues indoors with my Moto G power 2021. Possibly an antenna issue? Which antenna should I be looking at? Thank you for your help in advance.
Hi, check and make sure the top and bottom plastic covers are properly in place and screwed down. See if that will help.
@@PBKreviews Thank you for the response!
@@PBKreviews Turns out my Carrier stopped supporting this phone due to switching to 5G and that was causing it to have signal issues. Thank you for the help.
Watching this on my new moto g power in case I instantly break it
What is the small hole in the top of the 2021 Moto G. It looks like the hole for the sim card. Thanks for the help
secondary microphone hole.
please respond to this comment, i was wearing my Oculus/Meta Quest 2 and as I was setting up the guardian to get ready to play I looked at my phone with the headset on and theres this flickering at the top of my Moto G Power (2021). I don't understand what the hell that was, its right next to the camera almost and it kinda scares me since its always flashing at all times.
Was wondering if you you could take a apart the headphone jack on top of the phone because I need to replace mine and I would like to know what it looks like inside out?
Hi, I did this video a long time ago and don't have the phone anymore.
@@PBKreviews okay no problem thank you for the reply.
Is that square cover over the cameras glass? I know on my Moto G4 it was anyhow
Not sure what you mean
could i scrape off the paint on the plastic backplate to make ti see through?
Hi, no because its a solid plastic piece and the paint is on the outside of it. Usually on glass back plates, you can peel of the laminate color layer off the glass but on plastic ones its not the same.
@@PBKreviews oh well, thanks for telling me though before I tried to rip my backplate off and probably break it
What kind of sealer was used to attach phone cover?
Yeah, that would be helpful.
Are "turbo charging" cables different than other cables? Think I messed up cable that came with it now only charges slow even tho says its Turbo... before I buy a battery thought I'd ask, Thanks!!! Phones been flawless otherwise.
Usually yes, they have different type of cables for the faster charging, but it can also be a bad sub board, or charging IC on the phone etc. Also make sure the charging brick or adapter that goes in the wall is a turbo or fast charging adapter as well.
Where can you even find a screen replacement for this?
here is a link for the screen. amzn.to/3dANm6x
Where is the antenna located? Just wondered if I'm blocking it.
There are antenna lines on the top and bottom as well as built into the frame.
What mm of tape is inside the back plate at the beginning of the video?
Im not sure the exact size, i didnt measure it but you can get the original pre cut adhesive for your phone from mobiledefenders.com
What is the black cable for? Beside the white cable. It was cut by accident
They are usually used as antenna cables
@@PBKreviews do they have to be re connected? I had it cut as well
My friend got pencil lead stuck in my moto g play (2021) sim port. Do you know how I can fix that?
I think if you use a sim eject tool to press in the sim eject hole, it should push the tray out even with that lead stuck in there and then you would be able to remove it.
How can I fix the speaker? The sound is muffled
I need this issue fixed as well the only thing I found online possibly cause it happened to others was a software update from Google screwed up the settings for the sound and now some phones won't play at loud settings. Mine i can't hear music or videos it's extremely low volume and my ringer also is very muted for videos or music I now have to have an external speaker to be able to hear things being played
Please come back... please
Hi, what do you mean?
@@PBKreviews You haven't uploaded in a while and I assumed you wouldn't.
I am waiting for A52 5G teardown video..please
Will have the A52 teardown done in a week or two.
Can volume button be replaced?
yes, but would require the screen to be pried off as well since the flex cable is routed through the mid frame. Not sure if the actual buttons can be pulled out or if they need to be pushed in since it varied from phone to phone, but if you just need to replace the buttons and not the flex cable, you can try to see if pulling the buttons out would work.
@PBKreviews TY for replying. Your one of the few that reply to their subscribers.
Hello I need help my motorola does not put the volume up or down I need help
And it's does not turn off
Hello , i have an issue with my phone and would like to know of u could provide a service to fix it ? pleasee contact me please iv been truggling with my phone for the past 2 months now
What a pain in the ass whatever happened to just opening the back pulling the battery out putting it back in all this is so ridiculous just to change a battery . Easier just getting another phone
what does pbk means
There is no real meaning behind it, just an old username abbreviation from a long time ago.
What a pain in the ass to replace this thing
For real, why does the battery need to be glued down anyway?
poco x3 pro please
And here I thought it was going to be an easy battery replacement but man it seems like every new phone they come out with battery replacement it gets harder and harder to do whatever happened to simply taking off the back plate and easily removing the battery 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yup, all are pretty much glued in now a days.
My freaking battery makes sparkles I'm done😡 not my first phone dissemble
You can use isopropyl alcohol to apply some to the sides of the battery n let it sit for 30 seconds so it eats away at the adhesive making it easier to pry off. ifixit sells it, i have links for it in my more recent videos.
Who cares what vibrate motor they use
