This show revive Karate and made it very interesting. The arena and enterenc is cool like video game. Team behind this show are very creative.
This and BKFC is slowly becoming my favorite things to watch lol.
Agree man. Wish they allowed knees and elbows. If they’re going to do karate, do it completely!
@@joshuacolborn2085 yeah they need to open up the striking otherwise this is nothing but bullshit points fighting with some flash KO’s. Overall I really like what they’re doing and how they play with the set design per location. This production seems to have a lot of money backing it.
@Rocco Durazza I understand that, certainly! But in my opinion what we see there is not true Karate, but a diluted, stylized imitation of it. I train in USA Goju, and we train at distance (kicking), close (boxing, knees, elbows) and even some groundfighting. We are proud of our style because all of these things are very traditional, as seen when analyzing the history of the art and how it was used in warfare. Aesthetics are important in developing an identity of Karate for the mainstream but it’s important we don’t lose so many key elements of the art either, as has happened in points fighting. I think even just allowing knees to the body in a clinch, but keeping the clinch timed, would be a nice little addition. But I’d like to see both-I think the nature of knees and elbows in Karate is a bit different than in Muay Thai, especially as they limit clinching and groundfighting, and I think we would see that if they allowed it. I like Karate Combat and none of this is going to keep me from watching it, but I wish it were a little more true to the traditional. Maybe that’s just my own bias because of the dojo I train at, though.
@@Bbknuckles Agreed. It reminds me a lot of the point fighting from tournaments, and let’s face it, none of that is TRUE karate. Always wide stances, always weight on the back foot, always looking for that KO kick, that’s not how it should be. We should be seeing more hands, knees, elbows, sweeps, trips, reaps, more diverse stances than just the horse stance, less of their horrific head movement. I get that there is an aesthetic of Karate they are attempting to preserve but it is to the detriment of all the things Karate is really capable of.
Easily the most enjoyable presentation format of any combat sports out there, your use of After Effects is top notch!
We are so honored to see the father of modern karate himself through this show. Thank you, Karate Combat.
Great show, but please, don't ever but some guy in "acting" like Funakoshi again--YIKES
I’ve been loving this season, just wish some of these events were a bit longer! Shoutout the Schmo and Helen Yee
Love these matches and also the environment they create for them.
You hear from many of these guys that they're cross training in Muay Thai. I like the fact that MT seems to be having some influence on these fighters who are among the first to branch off the old secluded karate path, which seemed almost impossible due to a lack of opportunity and the close-mindedness of the karate world. Cross-training in MT It makes a whole lot of sense, since the techniques are similar, but the prevalence of the point fighting style changed karate so much and shifted the action to a very long distance and turned the stances almost fully sideways, which doesn't lend itself to full contact very well. It's kind of crazy that nowadays you actually need to cross-train in other arts to reverse-engineer your style and bring back the stuff that was lost, but that's where we're at. The sooner things start to change, the better. That's why a league like Karate Combat is so important.
Just in the montage at the beginning you see a spinning elbow (which might of been a backfist as elbows dont seem to be legal in this because it's karate). But yeah as a Muay Thai practitioner myself, I see the influence.
The guy that said that got his ass kicked hahaha
Ferreras vs Mathes man what a great fight.
Excellent Job from Deivis Ferreiras... FTA Academy had a very good representation today; warm greetings and respect to Omar and all the team from FTA Academy in the DR.
Awesome event guys. Loved Azouz's hustle, boy's got game.
I'd love to See how wonderboy does in these...
Wonderboy is one of the best kicker in UFC 🔥🔥🔥 🔥
I think he'd destroy everybody. Total respect to every person who fights in karate combat but it's still early days and the combat (again with total respect) looks very amareurish. The cream of the karate combat fighters still needs to rise to the top, it'll get there eventually as the fighters get used to it. I feel that in a few years it will really just resemble american kickboxing with different gloves.
He would destroy these guys. Without breaking a sweat
Great question! I would love to see Wonderboy compete in this
Raymond Daniels and Venom page would be sweet too
Watched the event Thursday in Europe - so glad you have contracts with broadcast networks!
Wao muy duro Ferrera, arriba RD República Dominicana 🇩🇴 🇩🇴 🇩🇴 🇩🇴 🇩🇴 🇩🇴
L'entraîneur il vit le combat, il est dans la peau de Tommy azouz pendant le combat chapeau 👍
Excited! I am loving Karate Combat.🥋
Totally love the look/presentation of this event
This event was fantastic. Great fights guys!
Azouz pulling out some savate very nice, Britto just couldn’t seem to understand the importance of combos
Great fights ! Awesome end with Danny Trejo, Georges St-Pierre and Bas Rutten !
I dig these. Hope it comes to Dallas
"a punch is a punch a kick is a kick " well said GSP 💯
I love these Figthers are too Goods Wow
Pretty creative, I like what they are doing.
You can hear Bas Ritter drooling while he says “liver shots”... 😂!
Savage knockdown!
this is definitely what Karate needs to stay on the same level as Muay Thai/ Kickboxing, or ONEFC/ UFC MMA championships. I feel that it became way too condensed with control measures and point scoring that most people just viewed it as too closed minded. This looks far more interesting and the influence these fighters clearly have from other arts like Muay Thai and Japanese kickboxing (which ironically was created by a Karate practitioners who studied Muay Thai and fought Nak Muay in bouts) clearly shows in style and techniques, although it remains Karate at heart.
UNFORTUNATELY, THE FIGHTING STYLE NO LONGER LOOKS LIKE CLASSIC KARATE, BUT MORE LIKE KICKBOXING WITH CLINCHING AND WRESTSLING / GRABBLING ELEMENTS, LIKE MMA. BUT THIS IS THE TIME AND THE " FIGHT TREND " IN MOMENT. THIS KARATE, LOOKS LIKE VERY GOOD AND THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT ENTERTAINMENT ;) greetings from germany & namaste
Original karate had grappling. WAY before MMA. They're just relearning karate properly
this is amazing.
El Guapo and GSP...what a combo.
"Oqinawa".....
Lol .. NewJerseyOwa
This is pretty cool...I must admit. 💪✌️
Wish there were more fighters from Asia. They should scout out fighters from SEA. Quite a few ones from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia would fit right in. Of course, they should get some Japanese fighters, as well.
Nice !!!
Bas Rutten and GSP should be the commentators they're pure gold
Great Match up, arriba Dominicana 🇩🇴☯️
this is so dope.
Karate combat needs more Kyokushin fighters. Maximilian is good but he's too skinny.
What's the reason for not kicking in the thigs?
My guess is to prevent kicks to the privates, since I don't know if wearing groin protection is legal in here (pretty sure not, just mma gloves)
I’m curious as to the requirements. Could a kickboxer or Thai boxer with no karate experience compete or is a karate rank required?
GSP and Bas, epic
Karate Combat has certainly been a very entertaining experience, watching all these practitioners of the art of Karate do what they do best.
Looking fowards what's in store for the future events.
🥋👊
Love the fights, still not sure how I feel about the gimmicky production though.
8:08 Brito vs Azouz (men)
29:45 Ferrers vs Mathes (men)
Would love to see how Raymond Daniels would do in this. Then again there's really nothing he has left to prove in terms of karate and I'm sure Karate Combat would find it extremely difficult to match whatever Bellator is willing to give him to keep him around for the foreseeable future
They have a Swiss flag for Ericsson but didn't he say he was from Sweden in the trailer at the end?
I friggin love Karate Combat!
when he did the spinning back kick. he could performed another attack. kind of like a side kick or an axe kick with the same leg
Tkd combat anywhere?
Ferreras has some serious hands.
This deserves a much more love
Alright!👊
Mark Goddard looking like a Mission Impossible henchman
Japanese Gandalf at 21:46
Yes,Yes,Yes..Oss.
Maybe you guys will have some Japanese karateka's
This proves Karate is not useless, and not only exciting but a great way to gain focus and determination for any of lifes many obstacles.
Ehhhhh.... its really a bunch of far less successful mma guys fighting in a "karate event", and most train kickboxing. But ill agree Karate is not necessarily useless, depends on the club.
Oss 💥👊🏻🥋🇧🇷
OSS! Algum brasileiro?
I really enjoy watching this. Wish there was more then 2-3 fight's. 6 fight's would be awesome.
I like the electric sign reminding us that it is 1890.
The whole point is the fighter entrance was a time travel portal you idiot😂😂
You might as well complain about the cameras in plain sight you negative Nancy😂🤡
What in the world is with these stoppages? Mathes was actively defending, and ferreras was barely landing. Saying the ref had no choice is just, incorrect.
I wold love to see knees and elbows with pads. And tight kicks...
I hope warrior instincts wins next fight. He has potential.
Man, I love this channel. Good stuff!
GSP brought me here
Now I know we're I can wacth a karate fight. Thank to jesse the karate nerd. I love karate so much.
I want to learn there move and I will use it to my protection not to harm.
You’re welcome! 🥋
@@KARATEbyJesse sicken smygare.
@@KARATEbyJesse you watching live too?
@@Mememulelife yep
lol
Could a Taekwondo black belt compete in this tournament?
if you market it as korean karate yeah maybe
4:34 My man on the right cracking himself up
Early stoppage. Max was defending..
Perfeck..osh
Or endkamp
Fun
Bro this german guy is fucking nuts I think I am a fan
edit: nvm I like the Dominican guy more
Please get a real crowd of proper fight fans without autocue clap shit like top of the pops, bomboclaat
PS: Covid restrictions. Watch Jesse Enkamps latest video
@@gi7685 I don't mind the fake clapping, but the whole vibe and look of the inside of these events, seem very futuristic, which I like a lot

😞💭Ficou LOUCO...
The Funakoshi bit was weird.
Kyokushin fighters can't defend their face from punches... That's their biggest weakness. I hope they get to kick the thighs also...
Where are all the Japanese fighters lol?
Dominicano 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
2 fights not enough
I think “Chirom Oramashiri” (dafuq?) should be “Ushiro ura mawashigeri” - otherwise the french guy is on some next level karate shit
Awesome fights very good action I love it
25:30 well that was awkward.
What are those Japanese-like-Kabuki girls for around the fence clapping n cheering brawing guys?
Show is about Karate, guy who wins first fight says "My coach...MUay Thai..." has this just turned into limited mma?
Bas Rutten 👊
🥋🇩🇪
This would be a lot better if they bothered to learn some decent take downs. Get some sanshou guys in there and it would be a much more exciting sport
Sanshou does not even exist anymore. Now the name is sanda. And they already have strikes they only need shuai jiao part.
これがKARATEか、
These guys have got to quit kicking inside low. It just goes straight into the shin every time. That can't feel good!
How can we get tickets to come watch in person?
Know a crime lord
@@ericgrajeda9916 lol. You got any connections you can give me?
Some good entertainment right here☝🏾❤ from NewZealand🇳🇿🇳🇿 stay blessed🙌🏾🙌🏾👊🏾
They could have gotten a better actor to play Gichin Funakoshi and put some effort to look like him. The one they got sucked! LOL.
Danny Trejo, on the other hand, looks and moved pretty good for someone who's in his 70s.
It certainly looks like Karate heard all the shit MMA was talking about it on the internet and went back to the Dojo to train with Akuma..
I like the aesthetics tho... The octagon looks boring compared to this arena
🌧🌧🌧🌧
this karate guy needs to learn some judo to do a smooth clinch and takedown
Should have bigger arenas
So glad this show is getting more popular. I hope it lasts forever!
