Beautiful and Powerful!
May God bless the English!
Thanks from a Scots Irish man in Louisiana
I guarantee your Scots/Irish relations would be spinning in their graves, "God bless the English " really?
we call that "Ulsterman" not "Scots Irish"
As an italian and as a roman catholic...god bless England....these verses are beautiful and the music is astonishing!
As an agnostic atheist (very good at it~!), and as a New Zealander in England ... I second your statements.
It is beautiful indeed, absolutely; the song, the country, and the people. Strange, different, weird ... but lovely.
But are not new Zealand english ? The same race and Blood....
@@lantana3217 New Zealanders are very very sensitive on this topic. Short answer, no. Even shorter answer- NO!
Brrrr ... if ever you go to New Zealand, stay very quiet on this subject or with any opinions. Brrrrr.
@@johnhough7738 Who colonized your country? Spanish? Portuguese?...no...British people
@@lantana3217 True. And a lot of people are happy with that. But ... a lot of NZ people have inferiority complexes bigger and better than anyone else - the favourite Kiwi statements almost always include the words "World beating".
Our systems are mostly British, but everything else is the best in the world.
Should be our national anthem
This is the English unofficial anthem
I agree
I am surprised the congregation didn't stand up for this.
The text is by the English poet William Blake. The poem came before the hymn.
Wow! As an American, I'm unfamiliar with this hymn. It's marvelous.
What a magnificent church and I love this anthem.
The last night of the proms version is always magnificent. More from the heart of the plebs. 🙂
Jerusalema
God Save The King
I love this. Your choral did a very good job singing it.
Beautiful feel the spirit if the Lord. Amen 🙏
This starts off from the old legend - supported by GK Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc - that Our Lord visited England as a boy, brought by his uncle, the trader St. Joseph of Arimathea, who returned after the Crucifixion and is buried here …
Anyway...the church Is a Roman Catholic One...the icon of our lady of Guadalupe, the Rich Altar and crucifix...the only real actual christian religion..christus vincit , christus regnato, christus imperat! Long Life to pope Francis, May God protect him and all the r.c. worshippers in the world, especially in islamic countries( 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😞😞😞😞😞)
Inspirational.
Our national anthem should be “ Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free”.
Hubert Parry is Jack of Clubs ♣Happy Birthday to Hubert Parry REST IN POWER Blessings and Hugs 👑💜
Beautiful!
Goosebumps
Yes should be our national anthem
How wonderful thank you.
This was banned by the BBC in 1971 because it's also a political jibe at the establishment WILLIAM BLAKE who wrote it was a champion for the poor and downtrodden of England..And he was a deeply religious man who was against our wars and colonisation of other lands and supported the FRENCH REVOLUTION..
My mum's favourite hymn which we proudly played at her funeral
@@SECRETORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR Thank you that was a fascinating insight.
What a tremendously beautiful and powerful Christ-centered Biblical song in honor, praise and worship of Our Lord and God Jesus Christ The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, The Alpha and The Omega, The Beginning and The End, The Resurrection and The Life, The Lion of Judah, The Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, who is The One with The Father, The Incarnate Logos, Our Lord and God Jesus Christ. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May Our Lord and God Jesus Christ Bless The Great Christian Peoples of America and the United Kingdom, and May Our Lord and God Jesus Christ Bless us all who stand strong in Our Faith in Christ throughout the world Amen. In The Name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit The Only One True God as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end Amen ❤❤❤❤❤
@@mchristhomasGo make a living moron 😂😂😂😂
Amen, May Our Lord and God Jesus Christ Bless you and your family ❤❤❤❤
Graça e paz!!!
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand !
This is considered the English national anthem, God Save the Queen/King is the UK anthem, this England's, Scotland and Wales also have their own national ones
So nice
Jerusalem is a British hymn which imagines Christ walked in England. And yesterday was Jerusalem Day in Israel, commemorating the miraculous capture of the old city of Jerusalem by Israel in the Six Day War. Is this irony? Or accident?
Accident. To my knowledge these two things have nothing to do with each other. I also programmed this the day of the Coronation of King Charles - also an accident! I chose it for its connection to good stewardship of the earth…. Our concert was titled “True Colors” and every piece had a color connection. This was green.
William Blake was an artist and a poet: look at his art and you will see his imagination is other-worldly. Hubert Parry was a strong composer and was head of the Royal College of Music 100 years ago (RCM located opposite the Royal Albert Hall, next to Imperial College London (science engineering medicine) and the Royal College of Art.. all prestige and specialist academic universities crammed cheek by jowl. The song is the de facto anthem for England (which is only one of the four nations which make up the U.Kingdom which has "God Save the King" as its anthem). The anthem is quite strong on social-justice : the dark satanic mills had terrible employment practuces in the 1800s (no automatic right to maternity leave, no guaranteed sick leave, no immediate accrual of annual leave upon joining the company, no protection of minimum wages to discourage child labour, no guaranteed access to health care for workers, no strong safety laws) so the anthem envisages how things would be different if we had Christ's values in England. The hymn speaks of the eternal duty to fight for those in need, so it appeals to the royals who have to live lives of dutiful service even if they have bows of burning gold. It also is the song sung before Rugby Football matches, at the Last Night of the Proms (BBC classical music festival shown on BBC America) and is the anthem of the Women's Institute (dauntless crusaders, for socual justice and intellectual discourse, dressed in twinsets and pearls) Well done Calvin Choir.
Thank you for all this insight.
Don’t a lot of England believe Jesus came there with His uncle , Joesph of Aremathea who was a tin merchant . And also that a piece of His crown was planted in Glastonbury and the bush blooms year round ?
✝️
May I edit a patriotic video of Catholic England to your wonderful rendition?
John 11.25-26 Jesus said unto her I AM the resurrection and the life he that believes in me though he were dead yet shall he live and whosoever lives and belives in me shall never die believest thou this Amen
Jerusalem
from a poem by William Blake, music by Sir Hubert Parry
And did those feet in ancient time
walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
on England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
among those dark Satanic Mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant Land.
👍
Kommt zu IHM, JESUS,mit allen Sorgen, ER ,lebt, ist auferstanden.
Am a member of a male choir for many years, we would told off if we did not know our words, so disapointed to see an English choir not knowing the words of Jerusalem.😥😥
Jérusalem après les compagnons de la Chanson, on s'en tape dehors
Bet you didn't know Jesus came to England? I hope he visited Birkenhead.
Have you asked your local imam for permission to perform such beauty, this is a patriotic song not allowed in modern former Britain, ask imam.
NEVER !!!!!!
what nonsense
It should be our national anthem and not something about a monarch who wasn't elected by the public, I'd also like to have I vow to thee my country as a second choice for the national anthem
Says a lot about Scotland, when an intelligent woman is ignored because of her religious views.
