This is a technical art! Great job. I watched at your work with great enjoy! Very interesting your technical drawings. For me unusual to see the sizes in inches (I specially stopped video for see attentively). In general, all is clear, accessible and easy to use. It's cool! Thank you!
Our entire shop went with wireless crane pendants. I know it's not the point of the video but watching you load the VTL with the wired pendant reminds me of the battles I had with mine loading a large horizontal. Watching the pendant swing far away when I accidentally let it go 🤣
Yeah, I don't think they're gonna go for it any time soon, but I hear you about letting go of the controller, and you're holding the piece cause it's kinda moving on you.
I was wondering the other day if you were still using the FIX8 tool and how if were getting along with it. Apparently you are on both accounts. Cheers.
Almost a full ton of chips per part. Impressive. That FIX8 chip was viscous! You run the parts start to finish on both the VTL and Boring mill? What did the job take you? At least a week?
@@ChrisMaj bravo sir! I wish I knew how to use manual guide. I just program using basic canned turning cycles. G71/G72/G75/G76 on a 31i. I know our lathe has manual guide. I have no idea how to use it though.

I'm trying to show as much as I can, but I'm just doing all this on a fly. If we do the entire assembly, then I'll show it if I can, and a lot of times, it's just one-offs, and I don't even know where they go or what they do.

I was just thinking about how its been a long time since we've gotten a VTL video. Chris always delivers!
There just wasn't anything worth recording.
It’s amazing how big machinery is in the steel industry. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing indeed and some would call this a small VTL
Thanks for watching!
I never knew there was a thing called “Pitape.” Just goes to show you that you can learn something new. Thanks for that! Oh yeah, you do great work!
Yup. Got it at my shop
That FIX8 was moving some serious material.
Tis but a chip... Chunky chips....
Dear colleague, it is excellent. Good luck 👍👍👏👏👏
Love that vtl great piece of machining mate 👌 thanks for sharing 👍
You bet
Man....awesome as usual but the chip guy deserves a bonus after these chunks. Thanks for posting....
As always, a pleasure watching you machining while Im machining. Clearly nowhere near your level but Ill get there haha.
Хорошее утро, Крис и VTL! 👍
Awesome chips, that must create a lot of heat, probably don't need to fire up the furnace. Thanks for the video.

Beautiful job as always mate, Cheers
Great job Chris!👍
Thanks Chris - great job and vid - kept you out of mischief for a day or two😉
More like almost seven days
Well, this is something else than our typical home shops :)
Our entire shop went with wireless crane pendants. I know it's not the point of the video but watching you load the VTL with the wired pendant reminds me of the battles I had with mine loading a large horizontal. Watching the pendant swing far away when I accidentally let it go 🤣

Very nice pieces .
Maquinário monstro, e essa kennametal é top demais
I was wondering the other day if you were still using the FIX8 tool and how if were getting along with it. Apparently you are on both accounts. Cheers.
I only use it for a large material removal. That's where it shines 😅
Gotta use the 100 degree edge. Nice work.
More chips than frito-lay.
Almost a full ton of chips per part. Impressive. That FIX8 chip was viscous! You run the parts start to finish on both the VTL and Boring mill? What did the job take you? At least a week?
I only did the turning. I think it was 7 days, setting it up, programming and machining.
Nice work as usual Chris. It makes a change from the horizontal lathe. Which do you prefer?
I like that vtl, but it scares me a little.
using chains is hardcore .... I mostly see ppl using those plastic roundslings these days...;)
With all the sharp edges, I would rather use chains.
Pi Micrometer. And thread milling.
Impressive material removal with fix8. It creates huge load on the machine, our old Yoji doesn`t handle it. What´s your thought on this insert?
Fix8 definitely needs all the Hp you can get.
How Accurate can you mesure with the Pi Band? Thanks for another great Video!
Pi Tape inch tapes have a diameter accuracy of ± 0,001" up to 144 inches.
@@ChrisMaj oh wow I think that's outstanding for such a "simple" measuring tool
Did you program this whole part using manual guide? Great job all around Chris!
All done with manual guide.

@theberrymanmanman I used to do all of it with G-codes, but once I tried manual guide, I find myself using it more than G-codes.
2 different parts in 1 video.. let's go..
I saw your video about fix8
U have been using the fix8 for the past time How do you feel about it? Do you recommend purchasing it?
U use 950-6000 hankook manual lathe and i make big and long shaft
If u say yes, than i will buy it
If you do a lot of roughing of a big parts and your machine can handle it, you can give it a try.
@@ChrisMaj we do 90-160 diameter and length 2000-6000mm shaft
Small diameter and long length is almost problem
I notice that you started with a 100º corner of a CNMG, does that insert do a better job cutting through the mill scale than the FIX8?
I don't know. I just have so many of these corners that I just want to use them whenever I can.
Hey Chris great work!! What’s the max rpm in low gear on this machine?
Low 70 rpm, high 250

Why you changed between Fix8 and CNMG
Cause I only have one fix8, and it's right-handed.
Did the mill guy drill into his angle plates? Lol
God ❤

You need to learn how to program in G code. Cycles can't go to -X.
Yes, sir. I'll start learning G-codes on Monday first thing in the morning. 👍🫡
