Yes, my papers are made with dye from Rusty Sludge: 5 cups vinegar, 2 cups hydrogen peroxide. 2 tablespoons salt. Then put some old nails and other metal bits in a jar with the liquid for a few days. The metal will rust. Swirl it once in awhile. Either paint it on the paper or submerge the paper in a pan of sludge. I used aluminum cake pans. The paper gets a really good “tooth” ( rough texture) because some rust sediment sits on the surface and will rub off a bit so I sprayed them with Workable Fixative like used for chalk pastel drawings. The sludge can be saved and added to and used again. As with coffee dyed paper, the dye pools in the texture of drying surfaces or gets a relief design from pans, screens, lace, and other textured surfaces the paper is dried on. To get the honey comb design, the paper was dried on a hive starter frame. The paper can be stamped using a honeycomb stamp using a resist like Versamark before dying, sort of like batik). The wet sludge dyed paper can also be laid on a honeycomb stencil to dry and gently burnished to get the image to influence the concentration of dye sludge. Thanks for showing my Gayle Mail. Readers, have fun!✌️🇨🇦🙏❤️🐝 Btw the ring is a bee made of copper wire. It could be put on a spine dangle or some clever idea you will come up with. The small papers are handmade paper I made using red cedar bark fibres. Also, Gayle, you can scan and print the papers if you want. I’ll be relaunching my Etsy store soon so others can buy digis of the papers I dye. I’ll announce it when that happens. 🐝🐝🐝
Thank You Rene. I hope I have the name correct. You are so wonderful to share this process with us, and although I likely not make handmade paper of red cedar bark fibres anytime soon, I might should you decide to create a video. I have personally been saving the non-printed edges of old paper to recycle into some handmade paper! I have a clear trashbag about 3/4 full. I may need to add other fibers/paper in order to stabilize it for writing and crafting purposes. Once summer comes, some large screens I have will be put to use! Does anyone else do similar?
Thanks so much, Rene! The papers are fabulous!! I just made another bee journal cover yesterday (my videos are a week behind me as staying at home has caused me to be a filming maniac!). So I’m all set to do another bee journal. Thanks so much for sharing the papers with me, my friend!! 🤗❤️
This is brilliant Rene !! Thank you for sharing !! Beautiful papers ! Keep us posted when you open your Etsy store ! Do you have a RUclips channel per chance ?
Krissi57 yes, I do have a RUclips channel but haven’t posted for eons. I posted a tour of my patio a few years ago but no arts or crafts. BUT!!! My plan is to do a few flip throughs of some books I have made then have them for sale on Etsy, fingers crossed. I’m to be 74 in August so things happen much slower than in my younger years. But Gayle’s vids have really inspired my muse and she (muse) has been taking me on some unexpected creative journeys. ✌️🇨🇦🙏❤️🐝
Good Morning Gayle, Happy Sunday! I watch Natasha and she has great ideas for journals. Nice vintage book you’re using too. Have a wonderful day! ✌️🪻🪻🪻
Fun crafting with you! Today I was mass making of journal cards and master boards using found cardstock and magazine and catalog pieces. Part of my lifetime of clutter busting. What great journals are in my future. Thanks for the inspiration and the company.
Not having a great day and listening to your voice and hearing your laughter sure is helping! Thank you Gayle!!! So I am Bing watching your videos! SUPER BIG HUGS!!
This was fun to watch 🤩!! Ceri is a smart guy, I think that I might have to add Him to Tim Holtz list. I will continue to check Him out 😊. Cute, cute stuff that you made using His idea🤩!!
I came over here by way of Ceri! How cool that you are doing a video from one of Ceri's ideas! It's an awesome idea, Ceri, thanks for sharing with Gayle, and hence, us! Great idea! I've subscribed, Gayle. Looking forward to watching many more of your videos too. Thanks for sharing!
I've just recently discovered your videos! Who needs Netflix?! I'm new to this craft and am just starting an altered book journal! So glad I found you!
What a fun day in the craft room with you. Loved.....well, everything!! lol but especially the collage papers cut into journaling cards and tags. And those little embellishments. What fun!!! You send us running to the craft room! TFS
Rachel and Ceri are brilliant! You got so many things made today! And dont forget you're the one that puts everything together so nicely! So you are brilliant, too!
Good morningfrom Denmark 🇩🇰 Thanks for sharing all this great stuff. Renè your papers are absolutely BEAUTIFUL 👏👏😍 Have a nice Monday to everyone 🙏❤️ Tina
How fortunate are we all? Hanging out with friends Craftin daily and still so involved with our Church's! Thanks again Gayle these turned out Devine and Ceri's idea is genius!! 🦋🧡🐞💚🌻
Boy that was a great suggestion by Ceri! You went like a whirling dervish. It was so fun to see and hear your excitement. Your backlog will be back to normal in no time.
Hi Gayle, I do the same thing with covering the folded book pages on mass. One trick I have learnt is cover the one side, cut them apart, then cover the backs together, then cut them apart again. Just makes it easy to find that join.
Hi Gayle! I start my day with coffee (or tea) with Gayle. Thank you so much for your ideas, great inspiration, and continued support of other creatives. You gave me the courage to start my own youtube channel, Linda Carol Art. Keep crafting! I'll continue enjoying!
Good morning Gayle! I agree with you about Ceris idea being a great idea to use up our scraps to make tags, journaling cards plus belly bands. Loved how you decorated everything. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing with us!
This was so much fun Gayle ! I always get a bad case of the giggles listening to you ! You sound like me talking to myself when I'm creating ! Such a relief to know I'm not alone !! Lol ❣❣❣
Hopping by, Gayle! The envelope you used was one I sent you, and I'm so happy you're recycling my things! They're going to good homes, and I hope inspiring others, including me! Hugs
In simplicity is found beauty! This technique makes this so true! so why can't I have these simple ideas! They're so beautiful! Of course, we must give full credit to youn Gayle, as the artist. Wow! -- Blessings, Cindy
Yes, it was for my family as well....we lost my mother this January at 88 years old. My grown kids and I had taken over the holiday cooking for over 5 years now, but my mother always made a BIG deal of Easter... even though my family observed Passover. It was like the Easter that wasn't.
That is a genius idea! I have started not folding mine letting the glue dry and then cutting them into 2 inch strips and making snippet rolls with paper by gluing the strips together like we do for the large collage sheets. Then I stich right down the line like we do. You could also do it with fabric. Such fun! TFS hugs, Amy
I love Blue Fern Studio. Their products are awesome. I'm planning in ordering some things from on my next payday. I love Rachel and Sarah. I also watch Chelle and Clint of the Rambeling Crafters. I have learned so very much from all of you talented crafters !!!
Gayle i really love this Collage Idea by Ceri and i also love how you created yours and cut it up - everything came out beautiful - and thank you soooo much for telling us how to find the flowers and butterflies - i kept looking in Gayles Favorite Things lol - blessings and remain safe xx
Thank you for your videos Gayle. I love watching you create. Your videos have gotten me through a really rough year and a half of personal loss. Stay safe and lots of hugs!
Oh my gosh that’s so true and so funny! I asked my brother to grunge up a ruler vs buying one. He used the band saw? I think to put notches in it. Try explaining this stuff to people who don’t get it.
Thank you for all the videos!! I love it when my notification pops up letting me know you posted again!! I stop what I am watching and switch over to yours! Happy Sunday!
Great idea! Your cards, tags etc came out beautiful as always. This project will help us all distress ourselves at this time. Ty to all subbie crafters and their inspiration too! 👍🌸🌸🌸
I also attended Mass via the Internet. It was better than no Mass at all. Easter was very different this year but we can still proclaim, “ Alleluia! “. Thank God! 🐇
So many events have been different. Here in Australia , Christmas, New Years, Easter and also ANZAC Day for us at the end of the month. The bushfires, floods and now Covid have certainly changed a lot.
Thanks Gayle. Doing well. Set up a home gym and bought a kayak. Even though we are heading into colder months I intend on going out on the water. Great for the soul ❤️❤️❤️
I've been using this technique with my folded papers since seeing you use it on the full pages, Gayle. Only I put mine together to make an A4 sheet size and I leave a small gap in between the pages so I can cut through them easily on my paper trimmer without the need to guess where the joins are. The results are fabulous, aren't they, regardless of which way you go about it. I turned my journal cards into postcards using a postcard stamp. They look amazing! I love that mini collage look. Keep those fantastic techniques coming!
I love, love, love those! Cari is a genius for sure and you are the artist who brought them to life! I adore that floral shabby chic looking style you did on the tall tags… SOOOO beautiful, as were the rest! I adore those cards and things made from you large collage roll too! 💖🌸💖 On my gosh I have to make some today! I am so inspired! Thanks for sharing with us. Big hugs! 🤗🤗🤗
I know this is a recorded ahead of time vid, but I’m looking at the Acknowledgment page of your new glueing book, and thinking the blank parts will make a nice back sheet for a journal card. Of course I’m sure that page is long gone, but I’ve been saving those sheets from books my hubby finished and love using them for that now. 😊
My friend and I just did collage boards on FaceTime this week. We loved how they turned out. We are going to scan them but I am not sure we will have the nerve to cut them up. We spent 4 hours making them. It was so much fun.

Fun! This is a life changer! Lol
Yes, Easter was very different this year. But the purpose remains the same and I am grateful for the eternity given!

While you are using your used book pages you are making more used book pages. Oh goodie it will never end.
I also attended Mass via the Internet. It was better than no Mass at all. Easter was very different this year but we can still proclaim, “ Alleluia! “. Thank God! 🐇

Great way to quickly collage journaling cards. They turned out well
Hi Gayle, anther clever idea from a subbie! Thanks for sharing!
Love the kits . You should see what you could create with the kit with no pages in it .
🤗💕🤗Gonna get my scraps and glue stick!
Way to go Ceri!
Really cute Gayle ❤
I did this same thing a few months ago. After I had about six feet I started cutting! So fun and fast! 😊
Gayle, I am in love with your epherma books in this video. Do you have a video explaining how you made them or did you purchase them? Happy crafting!!
Search Gayle Agostinelli Ephemera Folio on You Tube and the videos should come up. 😁❤️
@@gayleagostinelli_ct Thank you so much! Im loving this addiction! :)

At 51:14 I couldn’t help noticing that if you put your paper on your grid mat, you can line up the cuts for a tag on those diagonal lines.
Hi Gayle.
Hi buddy! Thanks for the wonderful idea! Big hugs to you, my friend! ❤️
GREAT idea Ceri!!! thanks for sharing it with Gayle and us :-)
I know this is a recorded ahead of time vid, but I’m looking at the Acknowledgment page of your new glueing book, and thinking the blank parts will make a nice back sheet for a journal card. Good idea. Thanks
My friend and I just did collage boards on FaceTime this week. We loved how they turned out. We are going to scan them but I am not sure we will have the nerve to cut them up. We spent 4 hours making them. It was so much fun.
The book was a good price too!
Well that was fun!! Got lots done today Gayle!! TFS!! Hugs, Liz:)
Productive and beautiful! Easter was strange for us. But my daughters said we will have our annual Easter dinner and egg hunt when all the is over even if it's the end of summer!
They are so cute and vintage looking. The paper is so pretty where did you get the floral paper?
I believe the floral paper is a digital from www.etsy.com/shop/TimelessCrochet4U. ❤️
fab work, love them xx
Good Morning to all. I ordered the tear rulers they, came yesterday love them lol
Love this idea! 😘🤗💜
Great idea for getting journaling cards made quickly! I love how everything came out. Eager to hear the new ideas for May!
Cary and I must've had the same idea because I recommended you do the folded book pages as a snippet roll back on your April 12 vid. Came out great and exactly as I envisioned. Great minds think alike - LOL!
I remember that, Rachelle! Ceri just shared first. You’re right, great minds! ❤️
Thank you
Ahhh Ceri... Great minds lol. I was thinking about this as well. My thought was, if you want to keep the shape of the book page, collage one side as a snippet roll. Then cut apart between each book page. Then collage the back as a snippet roll and you have a guide to cut apart again. Kind of similar to when you sew things on the sewing machine one after the other and then cut in between to separate them. That way, if you have pocket, tags, bookmark shapes already created, you get to keep those shapes but collage quicker!!! Love it!!! TFS Gayle!!! Hugs, Sharon 🌷💜
Happy Sunday morning Gayle. Have a great day xoxo
Have a great Sunday, Lorie! ❤️
What a great idea!! THank you for sharing this with us. I have been using my book pages for journaling cards. But, nothing like that. I shall have to try this the next time I make journaling cards... probably.... tomorrow!? LOL.
Take care, Gayle.
Hugs!!
