I stand with you on this one! There was something warm & cozy about those. As with most “new” “modern” products it’s always so sterile and flat and zero character. I could go on but I’ll just stop here 😅
I think the LEDs could achieve a similar effect if a warm white LED was used that's similar to the color temperature of the old incandescents, and then the diffuser was colored instead of the LED changing color, which is how the old incandescents produced different colors. Unfortunately I've never seen an LED strand that's manufactured in such a way.

Can’t quite decide yet, surely them being tight would make a better image but I’m not sure!
I'm pretty sure there is a way to use twinkly lights with Xlights. I haven't tried it, but I think its possible.
That’s what I’ve heard. Not sure on difficulty yet, although like your normal pixels are cheaper so I’ll probably just go that route!
