First small block Chevy I changed was actually under a tree that had a good stout branch to put my block and tackle on. Since then I changed so many small blocks that I had removal down to 30 min. The front bumper with the turn signals in it usually is a ‘72 unless there is a year break? I had a black 72 I changed out the 307 for a 350 and I installed a Muncie rock crusher 4 speed. I would wish I still owned it but the frame broke (rust)on it a couple years after I sold it. Lousy Pa. Salted roads
Looked like at 59:05 when you put the intake manifold gaskets on, you put them on wrong (swapped the gaskets to the opposite sides of the engine). The hole for the water jacket passage should be towards the front of the engine where the thermostat housing is, not towards the rear where the distributor is, there is no water jacket there. Unless you corrected it off camera, you've effectively blocked water flow to the thermostat; if you have an overheating issue or no/low coolant flow, that would probably be why. I also put a dab of silicone on the threads of the two forward intake bolts on each side, as they go through into the water jacket and always seem to weep if you don't. Love the truck and the build, glad to see another one get saved from becoming a Kia. My brother has a '72 K-20 that he's currently rebuilding the 454 for.

Yeah a great old Chevy truck save it for sure most of them had a 350 engine in them good four wheel drive trucks put many of miles on one have fun with it great video thanks for sharing

Love that body style and I had a 71 3/4 ton but it had a 402 big block and it was fun. Should be an awesome build when you're done with it.

Those are definitely not vortec heads, that engine is known as a K motor due to the 8th digit of the vin denoting the engine. The rpo code for that engine should be L05 and those engines were rated at between 185-210 horsepower and they do not have roller cams like the later L31 vortec engine. GM switched to center bolt valve covers for the 1985 model year and the angle of the intake manifold bolts was changed. The L31 vin code R vortec 350 engines only have 8 intake manifold bolts total.

Dude, u should get new freeze plugs for the motor. will the motor mount-up to the trans? the newest motor was a auto trans?

I have a totaled jeep but everything on it works as My son drove for Five years this way and now the Ins. Co. says he can not drive it anymore and has taken the Ins. off. just trying to find a jeep with title to put the good stuff . into. thank you

Dude you are still young so I will cut you some slack but you really ought to know what you’re talking about before you start making a video. A K20 is a 3/4 ton yes. This one has a 4 speed and looking at the front hubs it looks like it has a Dana 60 front axle with the big heavy hubs. The body is straight and pretty much the whole truck is there. In other words what you have is something that isn’t very common and is worth some very good money even as it sits. Don’t FUBAR this into some jacked up piece of crap. It’s worth putting the time and effort into making it right and original.id even be willing to make an offer on it if you didn’t try to jack the price up to cover the cost of your aerosol overhaul.
