In Dragon Ball Z there was an episode called embodyment type Fire in the episode it explains the more will and desire he has to fight the more stronger he becomes it gives him the ability to fight past his limits

A THEORY ABOUT OMNI-KING.
Omni-king is the first being in the whole universe, he doesn't have a lot of physical strenght, but he has unlimited power like super shenron, except he can't change himself, give himself unlimited physical strenght etc.. He's the one who created everything, therefore he can destroy everything he created. This means, he can destroy Beerus, Whis, or Goku. Because he created everything. But, just then, Trunks from the future comes to Earth, and talks about this character "Black Goku". He may be strong, but he's very dangerous to Omni-king. Because Omni-King cant destroy Trunks from the future, or Black Goku from the future. Because they were created by another Omni-king in another timeline. So they can kill him, except, that's why Omni-king has two guards, that HE created (they are the strongest in the whole universes, even stronger than Vados). Just like Whis, Vados and another 10 characters, who control gods of destruction in another universes. Omni-king is capable of creating anything, and is capable of destroying whatever he created.. Everything to Omni-king is like a game, thats why he wants to host the upcoming 1-12 universe tournament, but when something cannot be harmed by his magical powers, it puts everything in danger. If he dies, everyone can go crazy, gods of destruction can do whatever they want, destroy, kill other gods of destruction, without Omni-king everything would lose balance..

Well they didn't say that they don't like it, but they were really too negative in my opinion (they made 7/10 series looking like 5/10).

Deuce1042 Yeah, I don't know if you watch reviews, but Geekdom and Qaaman were mostly positive in those, so thats really weird, (same goes with RoF arc, I have to admit it was not great, but not shit either).
+Filip Jeglic half of the criticisms aren't even things regarding this arc. Like the whole foreshadow thing? Why can't gohan be used in the next arc? When was vegito ever foreshadowed in this series? And who hyped up the U6 fighters? Fans? Because the series didnt. And why are we bringing up throwaway lines from the BoG arc to criticize this arc? That's an issue of that arc not this tournament one.
Deuce1042 Exactly...also more like personal opinion on U6 fighters, I think that it's logical that they are weaker, even in DBZ, Goku ssj3 was one of the strongest beings in his universe, so for me its logical (also Champa thought that Goku and Vegeta were weak). Oh and if someone like Cabba would be stronger than Goku/Vegeta they would still bitch about power scaling...

I noticed that as an adult, my expectations for things such as sequels, follow-ups, etc always end up being too high. To be honest I'd rather watch a DB series written by the four of yall then AT.
+JRosh33 It's not the Ideas by him it's the guys handling these raw Ideas. Cause he's not truly writing Super, just what mostly happens. Like He will make up a Character (Probably include Character Traits so they'll be portrayed correctly) and say what they will do an who they'll fight, maybe how the fight ends, Where they will go. But that's probably it man. I honestly think that's why this Series is not as good as it should be. If these same things were done in Toriyama's Manga when he was fully in charge they would have been some of his best Work. Coming up with simple raw ideas and making executed them greatly is the best think about him. Toriyama's greatest faults is him writing over himself with some of his unchecked Ideas. and he's always done that since at least the beginning of Z portion

So true. All the criticism mentioned here still continue with the show today. Show has plenty of dumb unexplained stuff happening, Like an ENTIRE UNIVERSE only having 28 planets. Some things can be explained with future seasons but there's only 3 episodes of Super left in 2018.

Been a fan of this series for most of my life now, for me its a joy to watch this series. Honestly I dont have the time to watch the series as much as you guys do but after watching this video im glad thats not the case. I understad this series is made for kids and I dont overthink all the plotholes and all that shit. To me I just watch it for the laughs and to see some actions, but mostly I've always watched Dragonball for the comedy maybe thats why im enjoying this series so much. I understand everyone has their opinions but I regret watching this whole video, It didnt leave a good taste in my mouth.

In my opinion, yu yu hakushos' "The Dark Tournament" did the opponents justice.
Tbh, its pretty damn obvious that Gohan will be used later, probably for the Trunks stuff or the next tournament. The reason they didn't put him on is because the Universe 6 team would have had a big advantage if they replaced Buu or Piccolo with Gohan. Why do you think Monaka sucked at fighting and Buu slept? To give the Z Fighters the initial disadvantage. Don't know why I'm defending a character I really dislike tbh.

How would U6 have ANY type of advantage when 4 out of 5 of them ended up not being even close to Goku & Vegeta? They chose not to utilize other Z fighters like Piccolo, Buu, 18 or Gohan for NO apparent reason. Wouldn't it have made sense to make this a training arc for Gohan? 🤔 Instead of wasting this opportunity for a FUCKING PRESS CONFERENCE!? 😑 It's a no brainer that he's coming back later in the series but the point is they missed a perfect opportunity to bring Gohan back into relevancy in a respectable way. I guarantee you his redemption will be poorly written aswell, considering the fact that I can't see how Gohan can help against Future Trunks' threat that will involve the Omni King

What opportunity? How does this tournament benefit gohan what so ever besides bragging rights? He's a scholar, that's his job, that's his dream. Get...the..fuck...over it...people. This is an issue of PREFERENCE not an issue of quality and im sick and tired of people using what they PREFER and equating it to good writing and what they dont prefer as bad writing. It's narcissistic as fuck.

If you are not quick enough to react to when your opponent starts attacking you, your time skip is useless, cause the moment you think about skipping time(because you see your opponent attacking), you already have a fist in your face. And once the first hit lands, one could argue that you are out of concept.
Goku was just outclassing hit massively in every aspect of speed.

I want to thank all of you for speaking on Gohan behalf for his mistreatment in the arc. I felt it was a giant missed opportunity for not having him in the tournament. Here is hoping he can get some spot light in an upcoming arc.
Thanks for keeping it real and not agree 100% with what Toriyama writes just because he is Toriyama like other Dragonball fanboys do.
You guys make some good points but are quick to throw out "inconsistencies/bad writing" for everything
1) Time Chamber: It wasn't completely useless as Goku learned the SSB Kaioken there. He couldn't have done it in the Whis' training room (if the time calculations add up). Although the problem here is how didn't Vegeta sense Goku using that technique.
2) On using SSB: If you remember, Goku said even Blue won't last for long in the fight with Hit. Yes, in hindsight they could have knocked everyone out with 1 punch (that would have still taken a toll), but how would they know how long every fight would last before hand? Did they know each fighter was going to be that weak? Hindsight is great, but they didn't have that.
3) On Gohan: Last time I checked Super isn't over yet. In One Piece we have foreshadowing early on that haven't even been elaborated on 16 YEARS LATER.
4) On weakness: I was disappointed in this too, but I like that they weren't just using the linear power scaling, but instead of using tricks and other features than just raw strength to win games.

The only way to get past the power scaling issue is by head canon, that beerus was lying about the percentage usage of his power so goku can go all out without losing hope, so that beerus can enjoy the battle as much as he can. lol

This is one of those times that I wished I could've been in this discussion with you guys. You guys are completely looking at the tournament differently than I did. It's funny.

Pure Rage Well, they have some very valid points, but I literally looked at every situation in the tournament differently from them. Where I do agree with them is that the Universe 6 characters were too damn weak. I mean come on, they should've been stronger than that.
With Cabba, however, it made sense and instead of talking about how weak he was, I was surprised with how strong he was. Cabba lives in a universe where the Saiyans are the good guys and they're still alive too. So it would make complete sense that nobody had figured out SSJ yet. They've probably never been in a situation that would force that transformation. Even without SSJ, though, Cabba was on an even playing field with Vegeta in their base forms and this is Saiyan Beyond God Vegeta at that. Then he literally learns the secret to controlling the SSJ transformation after a few minutes? Also, Vegeta wasn't showing off when he went SSGSS to beat Cabba. He had to go max to beat him. I liked that fight.
They talk about it being crazy that Goku wanted the rules gone so Hit could go all out then after they denied him, he eliminated himself and said he was burnt out and would've lost anyway. I think they're taking Goku to seriously here. Goku could've beaten Hit right away when he used Kaioken x10. Goku, being same old Goku though, wanted to see Hit's full potential because he knew Hit was limited by the rules. So once they denied his request, Goku stepped down. There was also another motivation for Goku stepping down. He wanted to see what Monaka could do.
Also, I know I've already said that the characters were weak, but I liked the fact that they brought back techniques as a way to win fights instead of just power. Plus, there is still plenty of time for Gohan to capitalize on his new training. He wasn't even at the party in the last episode.
I'm not excusing Super because there is still plenty wrong with it, but it's nowhere near as bad as they're making it out to be. All in all, Super is continuing the tropes that DB and DBZ did oh so often. Yet they call it bad writing. I liked Jay's line about being served shit. So I guess, according to him DB and DBZ were servings of shit too because they literally have done the same things over and over again. This was the best arc of Super thus far and it was a lot of fun. It had problems but they were in the vein of typical Dragon Ball plot problems. I enjoyed it.

Dragonball has never really had complicated plots, so this was fine to me. What I fell in love with when I was a kid was the fighting and the choreography. I think they need to have better animation and fight choreography, and I'm sure many people's issues with this series would be diminished.

+J Smooth Soul Beats I get that it's trying to be more lighthearted like Dragonball but even that series had its serious moments. There's just a major lack of tension in most of Super. Closest thing was when they couldn't stop Beerus, but that was a retelling of the movie, so you knew what was going to happen.

I'm about 39 minutes into this vid and I gotta say you guys are being kinda stupid. This is a show, and if Goku and Vegeta were to one shot everybody then there wouldn't be an arc. If we are going to put logic into this show then why didn't everyone pile on Cell and kill him instead of participating in a tournament? Why did Goku hold back SSJ3 when he knew Buu would be a threat and that he was wasting time?
Cause these characters want to just fight and they will come up with any reason to fight! Come on ya'll, this is Dragon Ball. Everyone knows that this show has never been that well thought out, especially after the Namek saga, but we watch it because we love the characters and to see what whacky ass shit they're gonna get into. Could things be better yes, but some of these complaints are just silly.
Goku wanted the kids to take of buu because he wasn't always going to be there. He wanted to do someone on their own to protect planet earth. Also everything that you said I just started watching so I'm not answer but unless I'm problem about what I said correct me.
crzyboy190 No you're right, but that is dumb. To leave everything on some kids he barely knows is stupid. He should especially be weary of this because he saw what happened with Gohan and how that got way out of hand and had a harder time beating Cell than they should have. But here's the thing, we let those lacks in logic go because we love the show and it entertains us. Not saying they should get away with whatever they want, but the things they are complaining about really aren't that bad.
+animecool999 You know I always say that dragon ball biggest problem isn't the repetitive nature of the Z part as it the underwhelming characters. Yyh Is a good example of this because it is just as repetitive as dragon ball in just 19 volumes but the characters are fucking great.

Great video bud.......Chasing the dragon feeling and trying to get that first high is hard we have to remember that there different approaches now....and as a fan yes I agree that in hinds sight it needs to get better but let's step back from that and say are they finally using there mistakes as a way to fix there errors and finally give us a more complete story? I think that's what they are doing and what sucks is we have to wait.
I agree with y'all on everything... when I was watching the retelling of the movies, I just couldn't wait for them to be over, I'd tell my buddies not to worry because this new arc (champa) is going to be allot better. and in every aspect it did, from the animation to the fight scenes. but it hasn't got to that akira, dragon ball/dragon ball z feel. I still have allot of faith in it and hope it bring us older fans to that feeling of when we watched dbz. but that's long over due and they really need to get their shit together. thanks for reading in advanced.
I think people trying to explain away all the poor writing in Super are forgetting how many great moments DB & DBZ had. Sure, there were problems with previous arcs before Super, but in general the good greatly outweighed the bad. I feel like with Super, as you said, we are teased with SO much potential plot lines and characters constantly, and honestly, 40 plus eps in it still does not grab me the way DB/Z still does. Great analysis video here, you guys broke it down fantastically (I expected no less from y'all). Let's hope there is something good lined up for the future, otherwise Super may end up feeling more like an afterthought than a continuation.

with black goku coming, and the fact that there will be a fight that goes throughout space and time and events involving xeno, i think its safe to say that vegito will make an appearance so that they can keep up with gods and im sure that gohan will be useful in the next arc with trunks since the two have so much good history. The discussion about gohan was so spot on
something that really worried me about super was the recent info that recently came out about Toriyamas latest ideas for the show, he said that he asked editors for ideas and they basicly told him to write in things that fans have always wanted, Future trunks and an Evil Goku. This tells me that Toriyama isn't really trying or putting too much thought into the story. "hey gimme some ideas, what? evil goku? sure fk it, ill put it in" what's next? bardock comes back and Broly becomes cannon?

id really like to see more hour long podcast like descussions from you guys
i agree execution of much of it could improve but im not seeing several negatives you all mentioned the same way as you. some of it may be from already anticipating a longer game on a few things like gohan's reemergence as a fighter. but i also thought that while i predicted what was going to happen was that the dragonball would be the site of the tournament id rather they had to go on an adventure for it where vegeta and goku didnt go but some of the other characters did. another reason i think im less bothered by some of it is it felt more appropriate to original dragonball and not the z portion so the fighting was more a backdrop and goku often wasnt at his max until the finals. he was always toying with the competition. the one difference was the lack of surprise they were so much stronger than most everyone else. usually krillin and goku thought they would be underdogs only to realize hey this is easy until the last 2 rounds.
True-I agree with jay- the execution let me down as well they did have all the potential to make this arc pretty epic , but yeah I agree with you geekdom as well about 'protecting' Goku and Vegeta's strength

I will give an edge to Super because it gives minor and side characters more screen time and it feels like DB product and I cannot say the same thing with GT.

what I didn't like about the arc 1.they didn't show goku's mark 2.botamo vs goku in the anime 3.the fight between piccolo and frost I know people will say what! what I see that the fight in the anime didn't make sense because of the special beam canon because we know that piccolo won't hit frost with because he won't kill him

The Universe 6 fighters are actually strong because none of them train with Vados where Goku and Vegeta are only that strong because of Whis. Pre-Whis if they came into this tournament they would've all lost easily
Great review! There were things I definitely dug about this tournament, but on the whole, it really suffered. I'm holding out hope for the next arc, what with Future Trunks and all, but I'm keeping my expectations low, as we're 42 episodes into this, and I'm still sorta indifferent to the series as a whole.

Ironically DBS needs to do what One Piece does and explore these worlds that Syper mentions. When IOne Piece mentions new places in the world and foreshadows it in like a year or 2 before they even get there. Super needs to do this.

Hey guys I loved haring this commentary about t arc. It really opened my thoughts about the series. In general all of your videos do. My question is does Super have to be what the fans deserve as a continuation od DBZ? Of course there's GT but as you've discussed, not the best either. What I'm saying is why not create your own story for DB? As you've said in the past just because Toriyama didn't touch it doesn't make it invalid to the series. Because I agree with the ting you guys said about the horrible use of the foreshadowing in Super from Gohan to the Universe 6 potential adventures. It seems that there is -- or maybe that there was -- amazing potential for incredible stories to be told and expanded on. Because from what I've herd from you guys it seems like the writing for Super is not what it should be and I think you guys could do better in capturing the feel of Dragon Ball. And especially -- I know you've talked about your feelings on this one -- seeing Goku transform into a Super Saiyajin for the first time. Those moments are what makes this series stand out. I think what you guys could come up with would be better than what is being produced now. Better power scaling and better character development. With the following that you guys have of, for the most part, informed and loyal viewers of the channel and of DB, you've got the a significant portion of the community to where if somehow you guys could find the time to make a proper DB series that you are happy with, you'd have the proper support backing you. It would be amazing to see this story take a step to where the inconsistencies would be far less abundant, and if so it could allow for a much more in depth creation of a universe -- all the characters could really get their own chapter so to say in order to really create a vision in the reader/viewers mind as to who the character is and what their significance is. I don't know. Just my thoughts after watching the video, so please excuse me if I said anything that make absolutely no sense. Love the videos, and keep up the great work guys!

When it comes to the goku being burnt out then wanting hit to go all out logic wise agreed but honestly bro that really does sound like goku. As dragon ball as a series has showed us when goku has 0 gas in the tank.. that's when he's at his deadliest not saying that's what woulda happened. But goku is the OG limit breaker and nobody can deny that everything else though spot on great video
just out of curiosity, was it ever stated at any point in the series that kaioken multiplies your full power or your base power? because if SSB + kaioken isn't stronger than Beerus, then it can imply that it multiplies the base power

In a positive note though, in this next tournament, since Goku and Hit weren't satisfied with the rules of the last tournament, wouldn't that leave room to make the rules that allows for people to go all out? You could say the Champa tournament was just set up to introduce new characters into the story who could grow in power and develop as time went on. If this tournament didn't exist, and somehow there was a universal tournament, we would give a shit about the Universe 6 fighters as much because we wouldn't know them. Maybe I'm giving Toriyama and Toei too much credit but it's what I would do. Granted, I wouldn't make most of the Universe 6 fighters pushovers initially but I'm not writing this lol.

I have a feeling they are saving Gohan for something special?! Maybe he will train his body back into peak condition and compete in the next 'Omniversal Tournament', alongside Goku and vegeta. They give him the SSG ritual on Earth to unlock God ki (the red hair form), he then transforms into SSB, maybe in the time-chamber with Goku, and something eventually sets him off and he unlocks a completely new form.

Funny how most of these statements are obsolete now lol. That's a good thing. It's interesting seeing the criticisms back when there was skepticism that Super would do anything of substance. Especially because of the movie recaps, dark times.
As for the arc itself, looking back you realize Piccolo is the Yamcha of this tournament, that dude performed but got nothing in any tournament. Botamo is Pamput, agreed, and Frost is Cyborg Tao, Magetta is Nam, Cabba is Uub, and Hit is Tien. I wouldn't say they copied, but storywise you see how they've taken structural concepts from past tournaments. I'm also surprised with all the complaints of Vegeta and Goku holding back, I thought they made it clear they were there for good fights, not just to win. Whis's comments on Magetta made that obvious. Plus Goku didn't just think he would've lost, he argued that Beerus sho0uldn't have argued against removing the rules and Goku thought he'd lose his form before Beerus stopped. This also missed how Beerus and Champa fighting was the point, they were the stars of their own show, the tournament was secondary. Goku and Hit showed that they weren't pawns in their game, which they were the whole time otherwise.
Anyways, this comment hardly matters. My point is most of this is clearer today, and I think everyone here understands that today. I think a rant like this now can turn from a negative video to positive when you have the gift of greater hindsight.
At this point is super especially with the multiverse tournament coming I would fully accept Broly showing up because this shit might as well go full fanfiction

Honestly, if the U6 fighters were all serious threats to Goku and Vegeta, it would have been weird to me. Having so many characters above Cell, and Buu would have been weird to me. Why was U7 so much weaker than U6 to me. I guess you could have had like Gohan and Piccolo fight the other guys, but then Vegeta would just get knocked out by Hit and do nothing, same with Goku. We get Cabba and Hit out of this so we have some returning characters for the universal tournament that we can see grow. On a side, I thought Goku and Vegeta were trying to hide SSJB from Hit so they could take him by surprise with it, just like Frost was hiding his true form Goku. I still like the Goku and Hit fight, but it would have been absurd to me that this many people could be strong enough to challenge gods.
When future trunks comes back it will be interesting to see what he says about Gohan
The Problem is Toriyama Is not doing the Execution of these Arcs. Him just Giving overall story elements is not working because these Money grubbing Idiots in charge of this show. These Fights would have been So awesome that we couldn't complain much. Toei's Tweaks are ruining Super. They are not respecting the fans enough. IF they are going to tweak Toriyama... like Toyotarou let it be by a fan of this Legendary Series that will improve it. Just think.... would Goku Vs Vegeta be awesome if it wasn't Executed my Toriyama and in Stead by Toei? HECK NO! Same for Goku Vs Frieza and Cell. TOEI Would have REALLY MESSED THOSE EPIC FIGHTS UP. They would have 2 and 3 min one sided Fights that don't add up in Power Scaling. Goku Vs Cell was so good that even though Goku Gave up trying to Win for the first time ever, he still came out looking good. You know Why...? Toriyama Executed the fact that he tried his VERY HARDEST but it wasn't enough. Goku Vs Vegeta was done so Masterfully that it made everybody look good including VEGETA THE FRICKIN' VILLAIN. Super is getting So far on my bad side after this Arc that I don't know if they can come back. The last padding Ep was better then half the fights in the World Threatening Tournament. that's just a joke to me. Maybe that's what they think of Super, That it's just a Parody and a Joke and can't be taken serious. But hasn't Z shown us that Dragon Ball can be both. HECK EVEN DRAGON BALL WAS MORE SERIOUS THEN SUPER
Now beerus stated in the Manga that poison doesn't have effect on God's... does that mean that goku doesn't have enough God Ki inside his body to be immune against poison? But wouldn't that mean that goku wouldn't have been effected in his SSB form?
I hope this multiverse tournament in the future has no rules. Pretty much go like the Tu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament.

imo 3 years is not a lot of time, once you get to a really high level progress generally slows down, so i really cant agree with you guys, in my opinion its really justified that beerus is still stronger than Goku and Vegeta, it would be just ridiculous to me otherwise, they've grown strong enough , quick enough, beerus is a born god, dont make goku and vegeta surpass a GOD in MERELY 3 years, to me thats SUCH a LITTLE amount of time. btw, great video as always // btw, the reason why goku and vegeta dont go blue, they are cocky, they want to beat someone with less than their whole power, it has nothing to do with saving energy, they just want to fcking troll people thinking in their mind "Hah loook how weak you are, cant even beat me in SSJ form".
