Watching Swedish programs in Swedish is good for learning the language melody in the Swedish language. As we in Sweden do not see dubbed foreign films and series. Carry on :)

You are doing good! Being vocal is probably the biggest hurdle, and once passing it the learning will increase in amount for sure.
I remember in school I had german class, I indeed saw the similarities and I totally understand the vocal struggle.
Grasping for words as simultaneuosly criticizing yourself while lagging in 13fps.

I learn Swedish online for 3 months now on folkuniversitetet. 3 days a week 1,5 hours per lesson.
I finished the A1/part 1 and now I’m halfway the course A1/part 2. It cost money : 335 sek per course but you learn a lot in those few months.

Att se på Svenska program på Svenska är bra för att lära sej språkmelodin i det Svenska språket. Som vi i Sverige inte ser dubbade utländska filmer och serier. Carry on :)

Fully agree with you. Spot on! Since I started my lessons I now insist my that Swedish GF speaks to me in Swedish everyday so my ear and fluency become more attuned to the language.

@@LivingSwedish Indeed, but as I am not a disciplined person😂 it’s proved hard going as with most Swedes, since their command of English is excellent, it’s very tempting to switch over😂

Not everyone is good at english in Sweden. I will say that most everyone understand, but as your self feel speaking Swedish, they are shy or uncomfortable to speak the language. One reason can be low vocabulary
But if we go back what you say about some parents don't want to speak to you regarding to the language. Start to speak to them in Swedish, explane that you is not so good at Swedish yet. Start with a simple discussion about everyday things.
I think you've come a long way with Swedish already, and I am eagerly waiting for a video in Swedish.

Very informative and well presented content once again. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into making these videos and congratulations. I'd like to ask if SFI is enough for someone to get them into a swedish university to get any degree or if they'd need to have further language training and certification to get into a swedish university. Of course I'm talking about university courses being taught in swedish.
    Thanks again 😊.

To learn Swedish and get a lot of vocabulary you need to listen to it often. You can listen to radio or you can watch swedish television. Have you seen Nyheter på lätt svenska ? It's here on RUclips and I guess you follow the news in english but here you also can get them in easy swedish and extend your vocabulary because you understand by context..
Your thoughts about when you need to understand swedish.. It's the language that is spoken around you and you ar missing out but you maybe don't even know it. And soon your children wants to take friends home and they are depending on you to understand them and also that you can speak with them. And do not bother if you not have a perfect swedish.. we understand you as long as you try!

What about your husband? Is he learning any swedish too? If so you could practise together being just as bad/good and then having to revert to asking your daughter. "-What is this called?"

Our daughter says no to everything we say hahaha She thinks she is so much better than us and it's true LOL But she teaches us some words and phrases sometimes. She is a natural teacher! My partner hasn't started learning Swedish but I will give an update on our lives soon. It's tricky sometimes 😅

We call it pre-school (förskola) nowadays.

      @LivingSwedish  11 месяцев назад

Thanks for your kind words! Both of my daughters are at kindergarten/preschool (förskola) but I also work (I have my own business in Sweden). However, you should be able to sign up your child showing you're enrolled at SFI part-time. They should be eligible for a few hours a day/week at preschool depending on where you live.
