they made a promise…. 😞
They did owe them something, you could tell the big guy with the beard who seemingly had some kind of rank with them was totally blown out of his tough guy / wasteland persona to survive by Carol and her mention of a movie, a taste of a long lost normality. This new community they found allowed them to feel like their old selves a little bit again surely and that was worth fighting for.

i liked enid and didn't mind henry...but tara was the big one for me here, i was so looking forward to seeing how she ran hilltop...as a side note, when i saw henry my first thought was "oh carol is gonna burn your whole community to the ground"

She had so much potential and they were finally giving her a good storyline, I really wish they'd killed someone else instead.
the pike scene was so beautifully done .. the music, the suspense of who was bopped .. i screamed so loud when i watched this. i met Alana Masterson (Tara) and have a picture of her head on the pike which she signed :)

The show somehow made this more impactful than the comics. In the comics there were two major deaths from this scene (three depending on....your views I guess) and both of those characters are still alive at this point in the show. It's pretty cool how this show is able to change things up without feeling like it's ruining the source material.
uhm... every major change has actually hurt the show to the point that it's mediocre now to say the least. everybody have their opinion I guess.
@@ginofactap idk about EVERY major change. Keeping Carol alive was definitely a plus for the show, introducing Daryl, not killing Ezekiel and Rosita on the pikes. There's plenty of other decisions which have actually paid off, although some have definitely hurt the show.

@@nashscheber2362 yeah Carl's death was Gimple being an idiot. It didn't make sense at the time but I'm glad Angela Kang has managed to steer the show away from that and improve the quality since then.

You guys are one of the few reaction channels that didn't just poop on his character everytime he was on-screen. I remember when these episodes were coming out, so many people were saying that Henry was annoying and that they wanted him to die and then when it actually happened they were like, "wait, I didn't mean it like that" lol.
And that corny edit of Rick in the field was so dumb but it got me 😂
Yeah fr I didn't know why ppl hated on Henry. He was one of those very rare characters in this universe that would actually sacrifice everything to make life better for one person. So powerful. Unfortunately, the show had to show us the reality of an outcome with things like that, but it was still special.
@@abbasfarhat3972 I am sure that 99% of the Henry hate was because in the comic books, this was Carl's role. Lots of people never got over him dying in Season 8.
Super you're right... So many people found Henry annoying, til they saw his head on a pike. Then, they were sorry to see him go...I was one of those people. What made him so special was that he gave Lydia the affection she yearned for and needed. Tara's death hit me the hardest. She was finally coming into her own, and they had to kill her off, and remember, she did not for a shot at the prison battle. Love you Alanna Masterson.
@@kevinmahoney2400 I miss Alanna and Tara so much :(. I still remember instantly jumping all over the room when her head came on the scene. I was so shocked.
My favorite part was how it took the cliché of TWD of how all the many times a character was built up character-wise during one episode before they were killed that same episode and now this season they built up Henry's character over most of the season this before they unexpectedly killed him instead of Lydia, who we knew Alpha was upset with for betraying her people per Alpha. Also they built her character up. Henry's development was slow during the season so the kill was unexpected.

This was literally the episode that got me into RUclips reactions! I watched this alone and had to find others that were in utter shock as I was!

I was despondent after this episode. For those we lost - Tara, Enid, etc., for Carol, Lydia, etc. I adored the Highwaymen, and seeing their bravery in that moment made me love them more. The loss to every community is devastating, and I mourned with them.

Bear McCeary has been killing it with the score these past few seasons. IMO during the Savior arcs, the music was starting to sound pretty uninspired and "action movie-y", but with this season it seemed like he brought back that orchestral sound that resembled the roots of the show. So many motifs that show up in this season's soundtrack sound like callbacks to the music of the first 3 seasons.

Waiting for this episode didn't disappoint. All the reactions were so expressive. Made me cry even though I've seen this at least 30 times. Waiting to see the next one.

Carol can’t have any kids on this show. Rick lost Sophia, Lizzie killed Mika, Carol killed Lizzie, & now Alpha caused the pipe damage to get over there
She also lost Sam the kid that was attached to her after she found out that his dad was abusive. He was also Jessie's son.

I remember this episode/scene, anyone that had directv and DVR'd this episode at the time will probably remember this episode ran an extra 10-15mins. And directv cut off that last bit with the head spikes from the dvr recording bacause it was over 60 mins, so a lot of people that didn't watch the episode live didn't see the head spike scene till the recap in the next episode which caused a whole flurry of complaints to directv. I remember getting the entire month free off my bill because I complained I didn't see it live (even tho i did) and was "spoiled" lol.
Ohhhh yes…”slowly nods” This episode dug up my Deadpool cussing mood. I was already sickened knowing about the highway men, the teens, and that brave old lady. But Tara, Enid and Henry - 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬💔💔💔💔💔

The great thing about the spike moment is that they gave Henry more protagonism, I dont love him but is a good twist that they kill him like that even before he became a biggest character....in my opinion season 8 is the worst and sucks but this season is really fresh air for this series and is really good
I honestly think killing him was a mistake. The show kills all the young actors/characters so they don't have to pay them more later on, but it really dulls the story without the younger dynamic

Ah, the pike scene. I'm glad that they mixed up who Alpha killed in the show, so even those of us who read the comics would still be in for a surprise. In the comics, she got Ezekiel, so you can imagine how glad I was to see him safe at least!

Rip Tara, Enid, Henry, Tammy Rose, Frankie, Addy, Rodney, Ozzy, Alec and Dj, the highwaymen death and Dj death is the one that got me sad, because Ozzy and Alec barely knew them and Dj was working with Negan in season 8, ad he died trying to save the people he tried to kill in season 8

Seriously. I remember staying up all night after this aired just thinking about that scene. It had been a while since a TV show made me feel that way but when they showed that first shot of the heads at the top of the hill, I felt my stomach drop

Why was EVERYONE so upset about Henry? He was the WORST!!! He made Carl look like a badass…other than Tara, all of the characters were secondary at best, yes including Enid.

I’ve been checking back for this particular reaction. This episode was so rough. I cried watching along with you guys. Tara was one of my favorite characters. I was not prepared. Did you know that it was supposed to be Ezekiel and rosita according to the comics?
I didn't even know that, but I fully expected Ezekial to be the one killed here instead of Henry. Would've made for an epic comeback story of Henry becoming King later on and rebuilding the Kingdom with Lydia and his mother Carol. But they decided to go a different route :/

Courtney's getting the biggest WTF moment in her life trying to wrap her around what she just saw. Just in disbelief of it all, just chillin' like a villain. Does Courtney even have tears? LOL! She's stone cold. I think by now we should fear her. Just kidding. I could tell when she's silent like this while still watching, she's so freaking pissed. And she said it too. I feel ya Courtney. While poor Molly's over here all heartbroken and wanting to throw up lol. Yep, what Alpha did still hurts and it just reignites my hate for her. But the one suffering the most was Carol. Another child she's lost AGAIN. Someone needs to hug this woman like right NOW. The two losses I feel the most are Enid and my girl Tara. LOVED Tara. Her bright personality is gone now. And Maggie ain't even here to know what the heck just happened to home girl Enid. Loved how they set up the music at the big reveal there. It's like as if we were watching the worst ending to a movie and it kinda was. Or at least, that's how it felt like for me. But boy did our kidnapped friends fight back. I'm glad we got to see that cuz that's how I wanna remember Tara, Enid and the rest of the group. They fought back, went down swinging hard. Poor Siddiq. He was forced to witness them murder his friends. Those bastards. It's just so sad to see them gone now. RIP.
