Those top feeders literally are the best feeders, and I have been doing the same thing you do for years. The only problem I have with them is my Russians are such angry bees in hot, humid weather, like we've had in Missouri, they will swarm you. My others, no problem. I can't smoke any of my bees, as it makes them angrier. I just use light sugar water. Just ordered 3 more candyboards. Thank you!

Hi Robert, really love your video - I’ve watched it several times over a few months bc I keep forgetting the info - I finally made my candy board 🎉😅❤, was as easy as you show. High quality product for sure! I didn’t put anything on the bottom between the screen and sugar. When I put it on the hive it was bumped up leaving an 1/8” gap. Adding the wood made it worse. I just cinched everything down tight with my strap but now there’s no bee space. Anyway, wondering how to do this better next time? I’m thinking a little spacer might be in order😊

I LOVE YOUR IDEA,IM THINKING OF USING BREAD PANS FOR CANDY TREATS LIKE YOU MAKE WITH MOLASSES,SYRUP SUGAR.HEAT 350 FOR 15 MINUTES,WHAT DO YOU THINK.

Because that gives an additional hole for unwanted pest to get inside. Inner covers have a hole usually. That’s why I said not to use one.

Just got mine! Put a couple coats of paint and will be making the candy boards and putting them on my three hives soon!

Can I use the candy board for pollen patties?
You can put the pollen patty on the top of the frames. You could put the pollen in the middle of the sugar if you want to use the Candy board

The bees will access from both ways.
how do you keep from robbing bees getting into your hive through the top?
The bees will set guard bees at the entrance at the top. They will keep it safe don’t worry.
