I was pressured in the corners a few times by multiple players recently. Now I understand what's the difference between them and myself! This is gonna get me to advance my gameplay way further since I was easily losing to being pressured in the corner unless I got lucky! Thanks lots
Man I’m so glad I found your channel I’ve been binge watching all your guides and they’re so simple and straightforward. I’m currently hardstuck diamond 5 but your tips are helping so much I can’t wait to get on again and lab this stuff out. Thanks again man keep it up
Glad it’s helpful! And don’t you worry, if you’re at diamond 5 it’s only a matter of time before you hit master. It’s just a bit of a grind to do it. Let me know when you hit master!!
@@Chris_F You was right Chris thanks to your tips I finally made masters thank you so much. Keep up the great work and can’t wait until your next video!
Only a suggestion because it would be a big undertaking, but SF6 has almost no “how to beat/punish (character)” when I played MK11 there were so many videos for how to beat every character. They’d show you what moves they had that were minus and punishable, what moves that were plus, gimmicks the character might use and how to beat those as well. Just a thought because I keep looking for those and they are few and far between, which I find odd. Thanks for this video! I’m going to log on and see what leaves Blanka at +42 right now!
I’d love to do character videos but I’m not confident in my ability yet because making these videos has taken up a lot of my ranked play time. What I would like to do is go over things on my stream and answer questions more casually. I’ll be starting up regularly next week. Thx for watching and for the suggestion!
Probably because A: it’s barely been a month and B: most characters are pretty honest and intuitive to understand how to beat if you have fighting game fundamentals. Most MK characters are doing some extremely annoying/unintuitive stuff to play against. A random decent fighting game player will have a much better time in their first match vs Juri than their first match vs Noob Saibot
Holy fuck this channel is a gold mine 😮. Thank god I’ve found it early in the game life cycle and not later. These videos will be my bible for improvement 😂. Also a huge plus for me having Luke as examples since his my main. Can’t wait to binge watch these and level up. Already got lots in my watch later list 👍🏾
Don't forget to include character specific anti-safe jump options like JP ex amnesia (frame 1 counter so your jump in will activate it) and zangief level 3 (there's 1 frame of landing lag so jump in loses to meaty throw and his is frame 0)
Love your videos Chris. I have a suggestion for a video. It might not fall in the same realm as most of the videos that I personally have seen from you. I have a hard time slowing the game down a bit when playing. When watching the game it seems slower. When playing the game it seems faster. I tend to get my inputs really messed up and tend to rush inputs on accident. As sad as it sounds, it is hard for me to link attacks in with many character standing LK. And the two characters I play have weirdly different timings on the HP --> MP links and I tend to rush it with the slower characters links. So, how in my mind and I supposed to slow the game down in my head so this occurrence happens less? Just hours/days/years of drilling the move in the lab? I get a bit anxious in a match so the practice tends to go out of the window lol.
IMO it doesn't take much more than 10-15min of practice over 3-4 days to get the timing of these things down. Just be sure to practice those links 10x in a row without a single drop every time you load up the game. As for dropping it in matches, I recommend doing casual matches/battle hub matches (so you dont lose rank points) and focus JUST on doing those combos/links. It will help keep your nerves down and allow you to practice properly.
Incredible video! The only thing is, some light DPs are faster then EX DPs, such as Ryu and Chun Li, so preferably, you should use them as the reversal option. Actually, most of Chun Li's safejumps can beat EX reversals, but not L DPs
Because the opponent will stand to block your jump in which means a low will beat them standing. A cr lp can be blocked standing so the speed isn’t important here
so do i understand this correcty. . .as you save jump, u are simultaneously blocking and striking at the same time? if not, how is it possible to hit and block their counter?
It’s all based on frames and timing. Without getting overly technical a safe jump allows you to land and guard before their invulnerable attack active frames begin.
Can someone help me understand this? I play chun li and have a meaty corner combo that sets me up for a safe jump. In practice, I am able to successfully block OD Reversals, but when I set my dummy to throw on wake up, I lose every time. Are throws also a counter or am I doing something wrong?
I don’t play chun so it’s hard to say, but I have two theories about why you’re getting thrown: 1) chun has a floaty jump so she needs more than 42 frames off a knockdown to setup a safejump. IIRC it’s +47 for her but I could be wrong 2) are you jumping with an attack on the way down? You have to attack to not get thrown AND to beat people pushing buttons on wakeup.
I can't figure out Juri's safejumps. he only move I found that's has a good enough knockdown is heavy fuha store, which is +46. But when I try to do a safejump, she jumps over completely and it puts me in the corner. Any advice/help?
There are a lot of videos on RUclips and twitter that show specific character safejumps. Try typing in “Juri safe jump” on RUclips or twitter and I’m sure you’ll find stuff!
Not exactly sure what you mean by this, but a safejump will beat any attack option your opponent has so we can reduce the amount of things the opponent will do to a) guard b) reversal. If they do something dumb like mash buttons on wakeup your jump attack will hit and you can react with a full combo
I feel like an idiot always trying to anti-air the corner jumps / cross ups w/ light attacks which only causes the game to produce a weird glitch where both players get hit and get returned to a neutral state, I feel like anti airs will soon be added back as a solution for this problem
I’m not exactly sure what you mean, but if you’re talking about early SFV style AA with st.jab that doesn’t really work in this game. You’ll need to use a dedicated anti air button or an invulnerable attack
This is genuinely one of the more useful tutorials on SF6 mechanics I've seen

Thanks Chris,
One more time you've made an incredible (and detailed) vídeo.
It will help a lot

Many thanks!
Great video! I didn't think about just learning the actual frame advantage that sets up for safe jumps so that was helpful to learn
Glad it was helpful! Thx for watching
@Chris_F Thank you. This helped! Now I'm less confused when playing defense! Sometimes things feel broken when you don't understand the mechanics.
@todayilearnedsomething8105 that’s so true! A lot of things are much weaker once we learn the counter play
THanks for the frame timing.
No problem!
Awesome video again Chris! Thanks a bunch :)

Empty Safe Jump -> Command Grab works every time 90% of the time :)
Great video as always. I'll be practicing this in training ready to take online. 👌🏽

Great video as always! Would've just added a small note at the end to use OS parry for free drive meter/avoiding burnout

At +42 frames you’ll still be able to safejump 5f light DP attacks so it doesn’t make too much of a difference
Why do a crouching light kick instead of a crouching light punch( punches are usually faster then kicks) after a empty safe jump?
Because the opponent will stand to block your jump in which means a low will beat them standing. A cr lp can be blocked standing so the speed isn’t important here
Hi thx for the video but what about drive reversals? Where u block and than forward drive impact i dont know if drive reversal is the right term
Not sure what you mean by this. Drive reversals in general, or against safe jumps?
@@Chris_F against safe jumps is it a good option?
No because the person doing the safe jump has enough time to block the drive reversal and it’s -8 on guard

@@Chris_F Hey thanks man. I think my heavy kicks were firing off too soon. It hasn't been much of a problem after practicing more.
what do i do if the opponent does normal throw after waking up and me safe jumping? ialways get punished countered
Frame trap them or neutral jump and punish their throw whiff
if i get over 42+ frame how can i get safe jump like on 47 for example
I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s possible
maybe if I frame kill with jap then jump

what a cheap move, need to take this crap out the game, fighting games should 100 percent be a bout reactions, like a real fight
