I wont say Choi min Sik is the best actor I ve seen. But I ve never seen anybody act like he does. He owns every role he gets all the way to minute details .. Nobody would have gotten close to the performance he put forth in I saw the devil . Which is why the remakes of his movies and performance are not even closely matched . He is one my GOATs when it comes to acting .
This movie was sooo fire lol. Korean movies in general are just outstanding. Heres a few i recommend. 1. The witch ( the first and sequel) 2. The Gangster, The cop, and the Devil. 3. Old Boy.
Why can't Hollywood do this? Lol. It's a great movie but there's nothing in it that Hollywood hasn't done before. Movies about sadistic serial killers, brutal revenge movies etc.

I like the fact that korean movies don't tend to give you happy ending. they are brutal and cruel yet you are so intrigued. i remember watching movies like "I Saw The Devil" and "Oldboy". at the time it affected me so much especially Oldboy that movie will leave you angry, disgusted but you'll still appreciate it because it's so different and good.
the 2 guys in the taxi were robbers that killed the actual driver, was planning on robbing/killing gyung-chul as well by picking him up, guess their plan backfired big time...
I think he was crying because even though he got his revenge he still lost that deep hole in his chest will always be there , he's tired, lost , shaken up by everything that happened to him and even the things he did so i think that's why he was crying at the end at least from my perspective when i put myself in his place i would be crying too it's exhausting and horrifying
This is top top tier S.Korean movie. You picked the right one. And there so much more top tier kmovies that doesn't reach out globally much, good digging will keep you entertain bet on it 100%

Love this movie, I’ve seen a lot of reactions for this and this was one of the better ones, a lot of people can’t stomach it. If you want something just as brutal if not more, but just as good, try The Chaser (2008) However if you'd rather watch something lighter as a palate cleanser, I'd recommend The Outlaws (2017)
