Thank you for comparaison. I like the Hassy color better personnaly, althought i can understand that Leica can be better in use, but after all, what remains ? Feeling or Picture ? ..
Thanks for the video. Downloaded the files and viewed in LR. I've always been a loyal Leica fan but from the images uploadied I preferred the HB rendering over the Leica especially the colours. The Leica seemed over exposed, and not sharp enough yet the bokeh was brilliant. The HB colours are more vibrant to me, exposure is great, and sharpness spot on; but didn't like how the background appeared. Obviously with some post LR tweaking both files can become brilliant. I've been contemplating on purchasing my first camera to pursue my creative craving. I wanted a system that would allow me to relax and enjoy the process of capturing moments (whilst preserving native colour tones). Upon coming across the Leica M series I fell in love, especially combined with the new 50mm noctilux but had a few reservations for the M10- P when it was released so held off making the purchase (hoping the next M11 would address those concerns). I've always been blown away with that Leica magic and its ability to render colours, and the sharpness of its lens, yet today upon seeing these files, got me thinking that maybe I need to trial the HB systems too. Was kind of disappointed seeing the colour rendering on the S files. Maybe the S3 would be different. Love the M series but I'm not satisfied with the clarity when it comes to large wall prints henceforth had my eye on the new S3. Thanks for uploading this comparison it will help me on deciding on which system to go for when the M11 is released.
Beautiful photos, great model and superb location. Very gutsy to shoot in that light. Me personally I liked the Leica S, more film like. I started out shooting all Canon FD way back 1980's. Keep up the good work . By the way do you still use your Pentax?
I regret selling the Pextax 645Z, its just a system with no new lenses coming out, but I do miss the file output of it, its the best MF files I have used, Leica S 007, so right up there with the 645Z !
Hey James, RUclips compression really makes it hard to get a good idea of the quality of the files. Can you make some of those RAW files available for download?
So after looking at both files in LR, they have dramatically different color and WB. After applying WB correction, the Leica files look a lot better color wise. The Leica files also have more bokeh making them look a bit more pleasing. Having said all that, I don't see any difference vs full frame that could justify me moving up to cropped MF. Thanks for the files, you saved me tons of $$$!
Thanks for sharing , great video. The dynamic range test : the Hasseblad performance was just amazing. I hope the long overdue X2D fixes the focusing issues. It is not going to become a Sony ,In the older times we have Aperture , capture one and Adobe , and the worse skin conversions were coming from Adobe. The best were from aperture in some most cases and sometimes from Capture one. Today we still see issues with Adobe cartoonish limited range skins. It’s frustrating, because it has become the best converter in terms of performance , features and pricing compared to capture one. In fact I did not pay the Capture One upgrade this year: to expensive and primitive. But I still have issues with Adobe conversions.
James, Enjoy watching your video. Hasselblad color cannot be seen from RUclips video. People don’t know what you are talking about unless you see it in Phocus. I only use back-focusing on the X1DII because it is bad. But if all you care about is the photo, boy no one can produce color images like the Hasselblad can.
I gotta agree, the colors SOOC is really amazing, thats why I just had to show a short comparison if using Phocus, I still have both cameras, hard decision to stick to just one, I still have a choice actually... get my friends X1D II or the Leica S, I think im gonna stick with the Leica S I do love the S lens rendering.
The hassy lens is good but the Leica lens is on another level. So is the price tag 😢. I’m using Otus lenses on the Gfx, produces a nice look. Germans just make the best lenses.
This is a surprise. It seemed that your Leica photos were soft, however you claimed you had difficulty with the blad… it would seem to me moving the focus point on the blad via touch screen while looking through the EVF would be the easiest method. With the fixed focus point of the Leica, did you find that focus recompose was making the images soft? Because that’s how it looked to me. Also the blad captured better dynamic range in the whites of the dress than the Leica
yes this could be the reason, focus and the recompose really reminds me of my Nikon DSLR days, its phase detect, and if the lens isn't calibrated properly then it could be off, but I generally get sharp pics with the S 007, and the X1D is contrast detect so it would be more accurate but slower. Yes the DR maybe slightly better on the X1D.

That is a glorious backyard! Add to that James’ determination to own & use All The Cameras. ☺️ Enjoyed this a lot.
Hahahah thank you!
Should you compare the same apurture iso and shutter speed.

You are very welcome! Yes a hard decision!
They both looked great. Leica looked ok but a bit on the cartoony side in comparison to the Hasselblad regarding the colours.

She is so pretty. Excellent review James. The Leica S files look yummy.
Thanks Ted! Katrina is awesome! Yes it does, I just put a google drive link, to download some X1D II and S raw files.
Hey James, RUclips compression really makes it hard to get a good idea of the quality of the files. Can you make some of those RAW files available for download?
Yes, good idea, I will upload some comparable raw files, via dropbox or google drive, I will put a link in the description, give me a day or two :)
I put a link in the description, 2 sets of raw files, so 4 files total, let me know if it works for you!
@@GuamPhotography Thanks! Downloading now. I'll let you know which one I like better.

X2D just announced today :)
hope you get a chance to compare the new Fuji 50s II v. the Hassy
Thanks! Only if I am able to get in the Fuji 50S II, before the X1D II sells.
Awesome backyard, I hope I can shoot her next time my photo shoot on Guam haha !
Yes Tomo! Just let me know!!

I think they do, I mean its not super clinical like the newest Sony GM lenses, but it does have a different rendering for sure.

X1d doesn’t have their own profile in lightroom? Thats a shame
Do you still have the Nikon Df?
No sorry I dont :( one of the cameras that I miss.
why wouldn't you use flash?
I mainly shoot natural light sorry.
Nice comparison... I am surprised by the results... enjoy the rest of your week...
Thanks Noah, you as well, enjoy the rest of your week, and stay safe!
Just by looking at Katrina’s backyard I can tell she has enough money to buy a majority stake in Leica Camera AG.
Hahahahha, it is a nice backyard :)
She probably bored and would like to shoot somewhere else lol. Jeez what a beautiful backyard.
lol, it was raining like crazy just before the shoot, then all of a sudden the sun came out.
Hasselblad only. Don't waste your time testing other cameras.
