Mine isn’t the oldest on this sites cottage up the road is 1100 and I have permission to tour and film it in winter when it’s owners go on their cruise and my son will be house sitting it

Such a lovely and homey, happy home! That roof is incredible! Is the video just half or part of the second floor? The home looks so big from the outside. Is there more than the two bedrooms up there? Bathrooms, attic space, etc?
It’s not so common here now houses are bigger in footprint it tends to be the older houses that are tiny this one was built as one floor the kitchen area and breakfast room was the living area as well as sleeping area the current living room holds the inglenook so was always the kitchen , the dining room was the stable for the very valuable horses above the horses was the two tier hay loft food store , it’s now holding three bedrooms upstairs with two small rooms attached in the eves . Small but perfectly formed, thank you for your lovely comment x

Okay, I didn’t know that to what was I referring to, , thank you Although I feel antique and I’m only 55 lol ah the sofas they are 25 years with us and second hand from my cousin and his wife at a push they are 27 years old lol
Great question so the house was a single story dwelling until it was rescued in 1985 where a second story was added, we get access to the 3 rd floor through my sons bedroom which has the south facing hay loft our bedroom was the west facing hay loft and originally our dining room was the stable . We have a twin house in the village that hasn’t been restored is still gas lit and single dwelling I will do a video on it very soon it’s also on a Neolithic burial mound so is pretty unique.

I agree in a finer property and would have been painted beautiful colours except that remember this was a stable and hay loft with a single room dwelling a home for the very poor , when the house was renovated English heritage agreed on its current decoration, it’s under review as we have had a paint analysis done which has shown so fantastic colours for the woodwork .
